In fairness to Valkyrion, you can at least tribute Alpha, Beta, and Gamma from your hand as well as your field to summon it. Doesn't make it THAT much better, but still an easier summon to pull off than having to have the pieces on the field, like Gate Guardian.
Even then, Valkyrion the Magna Warrior is probably better than Gate Guardian simply because it actually has an effect that it can use once it hits the field, while Gate Guardian is just a high-stat monster that's REALLY difficult to bring out. As a result, I can imagine that Valkyrion is more attractive to try to play because you can actually do things with it other than just using it as a high attack monster to beat over your opponent's cards with or possibly even attack directly for a large chunk of life points. As you said, still arguably not THAT much better than Gate Guardian, but it does have a few more things going for it regardless
Thing about Moai Interceptor Cannons is that there’s actually a niche of rock monsters and support that love rocks that can be flipped over and over and in terms of stats, it has one of the best DEF stats out of the lower level ones. Problem is that besides being a slightly better wall, that’s all it does. The others at least have bounce effects or other forms of disruption on top of being able to reset for stuff like Exxod. Still belongs on this list, but I would put it up higher because there is a deck that it works in. At least more than Ironhammer. Don’t blame DuelLogs though. Sometimes I feel like the only person that remembers the Rock structure deck and that Sphinx is an archetype (and I’m not just talking about the ones from the Pyramid of Light movie).
I think it also involves the aztec statue card, that doubles damage taken. I remember play this strategy in the past in GX game in nintendo DS, combined with continuous destruction punch spell. Not good, really slow, but still fun regardless.
@@gunturadisurya8830 Add Savage colesium, Ring of magnetism, Mage power, the dragon that protects equip cards. You'll lock your opponent and can get some win condition cards.
About the Crystal Skull / Ashoka Pillar / Cabrera Stone at the end: the main reason for their Duel Links effects being absolutely nothing like the TCG ones is due to the fact that Duel Links over the years occasionally adds the Video Game / Anime Exclusive cards to the game that, at the time, "Didn't exist" for the physical card game. This, however, does become a bit of an issue of sorts when said Anime / Video Game exclusive cards actually do finally get real physical versions. For example: Sherry LeBlanc's cards, more specifically, Horse of the Floral Knights, Centaur Mina, and both Noble Knight Shield-Bearer/Spearholder, have BOTH the anime/videogame and the physical TCG versions of their cards in Duel Links. Their anime/video game versions were added in Duel Links during 2019, back when those cards were anime/game exclusive and as such "didn't exist". The actual physical TCG versions were all released in 2021, and as of March 2024 those TCG versions were all added to Duel Links when Sherry LeBlanc was released as a playable character. So now Duel Links just has two versions of Horse/Mina/Spearholder/Shield-Bearer as a result of this quirk. The Anime/Game versions of the ancient treasure cards were added to Duel Links around September/October of 2021, with Crystal skull getting it's official physical card in 2022, and then Pillar/Stone/Triangle-O in 2024. So maybe one day they'll just pull a Sherry and randomly throw the updated versions of these 4 cards into Duel Links to exist alongside the Anime/Game versions like they did with Sherry's monsters.
Well, about Moai Intercept Cannons, we have a contínuos spell card that I forgot the name that shuffle your face-down cards by paying 300 LP on the End Phase, and an NPC on the first Tag Force game use this card because has the higher defense of Those "Flip face down itself" Monster, so you have a random chance to attack a 2000 defense and maybe taking damage trying to attack the monsters that have low defense.
I feel like saying that Enraged Muka Muka is worse than Muka Muka due to requiring a tribute is only true in a vacuum. Realistically, in any deck you're using it in, you're cheating it out of the deck, something not particularly difficult due to its low stats. Of course, that doesn't make either of them good, and there's very little reason to ever use either outside of the old video games, where they were actually pretty good. As for why Moai Interceptor Cannons doesn't have an effect except to flip face down again, it's because it was part of a really short-lived archetype involving the other "flip face down" monsters with a continuous spell card called "shifting shadows". The idea was that a lot of those other monsters don't have their effects activated on flip, but on flip summon, specifically. So you had to protect them. Enter Shifting Shadows, a continuous spell which lets you rearrange all your face down monsters in any position, and Moai Interceptor Cannons, a high-defense (comparitively) monster that you wanted your opponent to attack instead of those other monsters. It wasn't good, obviously, and they scrapped that design concept very quickly.
The thing with Enraged Muka Muka is if you're gonna cheese/bring out a tribute-summon monster with stats based on cards in hand... You may as well pick Slifer instead.
That's fair, it's easy to forget in GOAT format, you generally weren't using every card in your hand and using Giant Rat to summon it for free to get a respectable high attack monster on the field sounds pretty solid, especially given it grows every turn and that may be all you need to push for game if you wiped out all your opponent's big beaters and are going for a long game. Yeah, EVERY card is "useful" if you know how to deck build right and can prepare for the one niche situation where it pulls forward, though keep in mind, Duel Logs DID put it pretty early in the list, meaning he acknowledges that in the proper format with the right strategy it's STILL a VALUABLE card compared to the others. It's just a bit difficult to pull off as you need to effectively not play any cards in your hand and ideally you want to cheat it out, but as a back pocket comeback card, it could turn a long game around with tempo.
Man it stings seeing the Ancient Treasures at #1 Personally the series is one of my favorites for how interesting the strategy is, that awesome duel Yusei has, and how they feel like the perfect encapsulation of the anime’s message of any and every card being important solely if you believe in it. I’m glad they were acknowledged for having cool effects in the TCG but it feels a little unfair to rank them so low for their appearance in Duel Links rather than the actual card game, considering Granmarg got #10 because he was a bad Monarch and not really that bad of a Rock
Not sure where the Duel Logs is coming from. But Valkyrion was indeed a Promo Card for World Championship 2004. But only in Europe. The US got different Cards in this Game though.
I don't think Granmarg is bad enough to be on this list. In old formats he is a decent card that synergizes well with some strategies (like earth beatdown on GOAT).
Hehe I don't mind the snark, the humor is nice, just as long as it's not "I never played the game but from what I heard, this card sucks cause no one wants to play it and I'm obligated to agree." and being completely wrong. But he does do a LOT more homework on the cards and their potential use case (even the worst ones) compared to certaon OTHER yugi tubers who makes a lot of shorts that are literally just "This card sucks! I don't get why anyone plays it and I don't even have to tell you why! Moving on!" (you know the one)
2:21 no, Mobius doesn't have this problem because the card's still a Spell/Trap Card - if you target a Call of the Haunted and they chain it to revive something, Mobius still destroys that Call of the Haunted on resolution. The reason Granmarg has issues is because it says "that target" instead of saying "it" meaning the game checks if the target is still legal on resolution, and if the card is no longer Set, it isn't. Mobius meanwhile does have the same wording but its quite rare a card will get targeted by Mobius and then stop being a Spell/Trap Card, isn't it? Regardless, I'd definitely still say Mega Granmarg deserves this spot a lot more. Granmarg is old as hell and when you don't have better Rocks to use for Evil HERO in Edison, you might actually pick him up occasionally. You can't say the same for his Mega older brother. I'd similarly say Valkyrion can't be on a list of worst monsters when you can use it as either an OTK machine with Dark Gaia or alternatively as a Trade-In target. If it was Level 9, though, I'd absolutely give you this one, though. You could also use Fusion Conscription to fetch it due to Imperion Magnum existing, but that doesn't apply in Edison and therefore I'd not count that. 28:35 I feel like counting the Duel Links versions of these cards is cheating if you're going to admit that Valkyrion was good in Duel Links but still put it low, surely?
The Mobius issue is that the card can still be activated after it's targeted, giving the opponent a window to use it to benefit. Of course, Granmarg is *even worse* because it *won't* destroy Continuous Traps, but regular Traps and Quick Spells can often dodge both of them.
@misirtere9836 regular traps and quick plays will still dodge mobius, but that isn't the point. Granmarg is literally just bad, while Mobius does it's job whether you get the benefit or not. Mobius also does not have to target set cards. So just going off of cards used at the time, Granmarg was strictly used to remove cards like Man-Eater bug, and battle traps. Mobius was used to get rid of Call of the Haunted, and floodgates. Granmargs only usefulness is getting rid of Flip effect monsters that are face down, or something like mirror force. Which at the time of it's release was good enough. But as time went on, Mobius became useful, and granmarg became useless.
Nah Mega Granmarg is aight. The Granmarg vessel is one of the better ones, so it isn't difficult to get off the effect on top of the bonus draw. I wouldn't run more than 1 of him but he's pretty clutch in certain matches.
@ugochukwunyere3196 That's not a fix....you could make Six Sense or Last Turn once per duel as well...but their overall effects like Pot of Greed are so game changing...that "restriction" becomes an instant non-factor.
Hold on…… is Monk Fighter an alternative path if Captain didn’t join the army???? The hair, the face, and the symbol in front of the chest! I never realized that after all these years!
They're finally making a manga series that focuses on the card lore stories. I randomly came across it when looking up this really cute dragon sprite monster and found out they have one for the Sky strikers and one for that dragon and both came out in 2023 and 2024 respectively (this year) so it's on going. We'll FINALLY get definitive lore on The Warrior Dai Grepher!
Monk Fighter looks aged, and you know what happens to men when they age? They tend to go gray. Not saying it is him, but it looks a lot like him older, especially when you consider all the other cards he is featured on
@@ForteGigasGospel Actually, he looks younger going by his face lacking the lines that Captain has. The grey hair makes him look older. My Dad had this, it allowed him to go into bars underage, because his grey hair made him look older than he was.
Valkyrion is part of the reason my magnet warriors deck is so good, if delta goes to grave its a free summon. Usually, my opponent uses all their resources by then and can't beat over it so they forfeit despite being in a winning position all because magnets annoy them too much
@@neroneroren6788 Well Duel links has a very different meta. While a lot of try-hards may not respect it, it IS the most accessible form of Yugioh for many players, particularly casuals. and is arguably one of the most successful versions of the game today. It's right for Duel Logs to consider Duel Links players cause frankly, most casuals don't play the TCG, either due to expense, or the fact that "If you're not playing Tears, you're wasting your time." mentality. at least you can play OTHER decks in Duel links and actually get a game going past turn 1......
@@MarioMastar Duel Links (Speed Duel format) hasn't been especially casual-friendly in a while, and I'd argue Master Duel is more accessible solely because of the ability to generate cards.
Old-school Yugioh was all over the place when it came to how good cards printed back then were: while a lot of older cards are bad, much of that comes from how power crept the game has become over the years. But at the same time, there are other old-school cards that were historically insanely powerful, such as Chaos Emperor Dragon (of which was partly responsible for the first ever ban list being created) and Ring of Destruction infamously being taken off the ban list after having their effects neutered to a point that makes them basically unplayable by today's standards. This is most likely due to them still figuring out how to properly balance the game back then, as the 2 examples I listed that got their effects errataed would probably still be quite good if they could be played with their original effects intact
I think it's mainly due to how in the OCG's first ever release, the highest ATK monster for a lv4 was 1200 (Hitotsu-Me Giant), so 1300+ ATK LV5 may be common back then before everything gets powercrept by later higher atk Lv4 releases.
Just a little tip from Tag Force. Enraged Muka Muka can be special summon via Giant Rat. If you can reliably summon or search Giant Rat and have it ram into a monster, you can get a pretty reliable beater on the field.
Neat analysis video! Thanks for uploading! Here's looking forward to more like this from you in the near future! Also, if you're going to talk about power level at the time, no mention of Giant Rat synergies?
6:33 Idea to take this card’s current hand focused effect and lean in on that more: _Massacre Muka Muka_ (EARTH) Level 5 Rock/Flip/Effect _FLIP: Both Players Draw 2 cards._ _If Your Opponent activates a Card or Effect from their Hand, you can discard 1 card (Quick Effect); Normal Set this card from your Hand or GY. Each time this card inflicts Battle Damage to your Opponent, your Hand Size Limit is increased by 1 for the rest of the Duel._ ATK/1200 DEF/600
Food for thought: while useless today, enraged muka muka worked well with Giant Rat back in the day. it was a garnet before a garnet if you drew it however, the most you’d do is run one with 2-3 rats
8:16 Idea to make retrains for this card AND its counterparts, that also make use of the originals: _Valkyrion the Mag-Knight_ (EARTH) Level 12 Rock/Fusion/Effect _"Alpha The Magnet Warrior" + “Beta The Magnet Warrior" + "Gamma The Magnet Warrior"_ _Must be Fusion Summoned. This card's name becomes "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior" while in the Extra Deck, GY, or on the field. While this card is Face-up on your field, your Opponent cannot Target other cards on your Field or GY for Attacks or Card Effects. If this Card you control would be sent to the GY or Banished, You can Shuffle it into your Extra Deck, then target 1 "Alpha The Magnet Warrior", "Beta The Magnet Warrior", and "Gamma The Magnet Warrior" in your GY; Special Summon them._ ATK/4700 DEF/5000 _Alpha The Mag-Knight_ (EARTH) Level 4 Rock/Effect _This card's name becomes "Alpha The Magnet Warrior" while in the hand, Deck, GY, or on the field. You get 2 out on the field and the third is yours to summon at will, for the low cost of a discard of course. Beyond that, they all need to be tributed or used as material together to confer their other effects onto the monster you’d summon, making them perfectly viable for the OG Val. or it’s proposed Mag-Knight retrain, or even the God Cards if you wanted to run a Yami-styled deck (although in practice Obelisk would easily make the most use out of these cards, since it HAS any original ATK and DEF each to make the most of of Beta The Mag-Knight’s conferred effects.)
I believe the idea with Moar Cannons, based on some Tag Force games, was that to play it together with other flip to face-down monsters on the whim (like the shown in the video) and use Shifting Shadows Continuous Spell. If your opponent tries to attack one of you weakers face-down, they would hit the Moar instead then harass your opponents with the others. One probably would need to play Messanger of Peace or Gravity Bind to this to be consistent. Edit: In older formats, you could just crash Giant Rat then summon Enranged Muka, making it have 3200 ATK. If doing so by Creature Swap combo, it would hit the field with 2800 and maybe a direct attack. Not the best plan but this makes it better than the regular Muka Muka. Edit: Sorry, it is "Moai Cannons" .
@@mikhailvarkovsky4150 Not a "post on reddit" person myself. If this about the cards uses, I am just adding some context for uses at the time the cards were released or older formats t explain why not just play Giant Soldier of Stone or Muka Muka as mentioned in the video. If it is about the typo, that is just me kicking myself for reading the card wrong in such a dumb way.
For #1, I think it's moreso Duel Links porting in the anime version of cards before they get retrained in the TCG/OCG. Sherry's Noble Knight's archetype is an example, where we have the anime and TCG versions cards like Shield Bearer and Horse of the Floral Knights (that do share the same name). It's weird.
I actually remember I once built a deck built around the the Monarch's and used all of them in that deck at once. I did have Granmarg in my deck, but I don't think he got as much use as the others did when I ran that Monarch deck. In fact, I don't even run that deck anymore.
I used to run x3 Armor Exe and x3 Skill Drain with United We Stand, Fairy Meteor Crush, Mage Power, Axe of Despair, Megamorph, etc. Was busted to pop all that out in school grounds for a long time for me. 2400 beatstick with Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity made this deck fun for me to topple many of the "Rich Kids" expensive at the time deck builds. Would often use this strategy with Royal Magical Library and Exodia engine as a backup strategy in the deck for either Exodia or beatdown win conditions. Always fun when you run into the issue of Jinzo being summoned on the oppenent's field after the Skill Drain activated the turn before and having to figure out ruling for which card works over the other. And I had Maha Vailo as my other beatstick in case the setup for Armor Exe wasn't ready, or I needed to kill Jinzo for Armor Exe setup. Even ran Premature Burial for extra equip for both in case, over Monster Reborn, because it instantly boosted Maha Vailo. Fun times, especially when I got the Exodia win with a 4k+ attack Armor Exe on field. 😂 Running this setup with Messenger of Peace and Swords of Revealing Light along with x2 Solemn Judgement for Mirror Force gave me a lot of grief from other players, cuz my deck at the time was low cost cards (mostly commons, cheap rares, and unwanted holos) that beat over with a high win rate over others with decks that cost more than $200. Started losing ground during the GX era and banlist changes around 2006. Was a ridiculous, effective, and cheap deck to play with until then, with minor growth and changes (Berzerk Gorilla) until I graduated high school and joined the military. 🫡
I just have a... deep hatred towards some "type", not because I don't like the design, but like.... ROCK! It just further complicate things and add an unecessary "type". The only reason it's a type by it's own is because Yugi has Giant Soldier of Stone.... That's the only reason.
i feel the same about plant types. you'd think that'd sponsor a diverse array of art - and sure enough you get some cool ones, but half are literally just 'human adorned with three flowers'
I feel bad for the cursed relic trio. 5Ds was my favorite, it's what I grew up on, and the two facility duels are some of the ones I remember from back then. Wanna give them their due, but unfortunately, none of us have the superpowers of anime and friendship.
#5 was used for the structure "Invincible Fortress." The boss monster has an effect to inflict 1000 damage for each flip effect monster flipping face up. But there's other monsters in the deck you can use better.
I think Moai Interceptor Cannons was included in the Exxod Master of Guard structure deck. Exxod stating that any time you flipped a rock monster, you inflicted 1000 damage to your opponent. Not good at all, but it's at least something that Moai can help with... sorta 😂
Even though it might not have very high attack points either, at least it can destroy something then protect itself with 2,000ATK which most main deck level 1-4 monsters wouldn't be able to get over.
Reminds me of how I typically get Yubel out from Mystic Tomato. I am surprised The Duel Logs hasn't done a list of the top 10 best/worst recruiters yet.
the point of Moai Interceptor Cannons is to attack, then be able to turn into defense mode in MP2. By turning face-down it also benefits from face-down support, which was a thing at the time. Is that good? No, but that's what it's supposed to do.
Other funny thing with avatar of the pot is you dont actually gain anything off its effect. You need to use one card to draw an extra card, so still just a plus 1 which pot already does
Duel Links not updating its anime-accurate effects to the TCG/OCG modernized one is an awful reason to put Yanagi's treasures on the top of this list. They shouldn't even be in this list in the first place, much less at the top.
Yeah, the point of the duel was to use reverse damage cards to inflict high damage on your opponent, which I thought was a brilliant example of how to turn a self harm into a win condition. I guess in a vacuum they technically are the worst, but I agree I don't like the assumption that "EVERY card has to be positive to be good" as if Konami didn't think of that when designing the card. There's a way to get a positive effect out of any card really, it may not be as optimal as using another card that does similar, but I thought Yusei showing Tanner up with those cards is what made Yusei such a GOAT and showed he truly had mastery over the game and wasn't just a "deck list copy paster" like most modern yugioh players seem to be....
Muka Muka may not be a good card, but I'll always have a soft spot for it being the card that gave me my first win as a duelist back when I was 10 years old.
avatar of the pot may not have a useable effect but think of it this way. You can summon pot of greed which allows you to draw 3 cards from your deck (even if you cant activate it)
Idea for a “Pot”/“Jar” joint Support and Anti-Support card that uses this card as a base: _Divinity of Greed_ (EARTH) Level 3 Rock/Flip/Tuner/Effect _FLIP: Pay Multiples of 500LP; Excavate Cards from the Top of your deck equal to every 500LP payed. Add any Excavated Flip Monsters and “Pot”,” Jar” and “Greed” Spells/Traps to your Hand, then shuffle all other excavated cards back into your deck._ _You gain 500LP, and this card gains 500 ATK/DEF, for every card that either player draws or is otherwise added to their hands. Each time a “Pot” or “Jar” Spell/Traps card or effect is activated; You can increase or decrease this card’s level by 1._ ATK/1200 DEF/1300
The cannons were actually used in that rock deck because one of them had the effect which was the boss monster that anytime a card was flipped up. It did damage to your opponent so what you would do is to use it affect to flip it face down and then flip it back face up it would work because the other flip effect monsters that you had would keep the opponents monsters off the field
It makes you wonder why they don’t retrain the monsters that give a better plus with pot of greed, and have them work with other cards instead. Jar Turtle doesn’t count cause nobody is running that, but you’d think someone would at least experiment if they had the ability to work with the legal draw bonus cards. Or even have one where you summon it and it lets you bypass the banishing effect of desires.
I wouldn't say that the moui cannon is a good card, but I would definitely not put it in this list. The flipping effect it have is to put it back in defense after it attack way back in the days.
Moai interceptor cannons is a card that you use with Exxod Master of the guard to burn your opponent for 1000 for every flip summon. It is also the only self-booking level four with the highest defense the only other card having a higher defense is guardian statue sphinx. Back in the day I was a big fan of the exxod defensive play style
0:17 Idea for a Level 12 “Omega Monarch” version of “Granmarg” (regular Monarchs are level 6, Megas are level 8, and the one-off “Shadowflame” Monarch is level 10), that’s designed to play Normal Summon/Set focused support for EARTH Monsters. _Granmarg the Omega Monarch_ (EARTH) Level 12 Rock/Effect _Cannot be Special Summoned. You can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 1 Tribute Summoned EARTH monster. While you control this Face-up card, You can Normal Summon EARTH Monsters with 1 less Tribute. During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 2 EARTH monsters in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) Once per turn (Quick Effect), you can Target up to 2 cards on the field; destroy those targets, and if any of them were Set when first Targeted; Either Draw 2 Cards OR Add 1 EARTH Monster that cannot be Special Summoned from your Deck, GY or Banishment to your Hand._ ATK/3800 DEF/1000 So I upped the level and ATK, made it so you can’t special summon it, made it so it supercharges your EARTH Monster Normal Summons, and modified the main effect to A: Be a soft OPT Quick Effect, and B, made it so the “Set” part is optional, but optimal (either letting you draw 2 cards OR letting you search out an EARTH monster that can’t be special summoned.) Any other “Omega Monarchs” for the other Attributes would follow much of the same pattern.
I like using the electromagnetic warriors and since I recently got the valkyrion berserkion fusion in a master pack I now run a Valkyrion as a garnet that can fuse into a cool bit gimmicky boss monster
Regardless of how bad it is, I still look at Sand Stone with a bit of nostalgia, since it was the first "boss monster" I got in my first ever pack(Legend of Blue Eyes).
to elaborate on Moai Interceptor Cannons, it was supposed to be a combo piece with Structure Deck - Invincible Fortress, where you had Exxod, Master of The Guard doing 1k burn each time a earth monster is flipped summoned. ya didn't Exxod make it into your top 10 worst structure decks video? XD
I think the idea for Moai was just being a wall that doesn't need to become vulnerable to attack...not great for competitive but I can see it being the signature card of like an anime duelist and being the scourge of an early playground meta.
I can slightly understand Granmarg for the time it came out. It probably would have been better to special summon face-down a level 4 or lower (from GY) when tribute summoned.
Granmarg saw tournament play in a couple Shonen Jump Tournaments from 2006-2007 in Monarch Control. Nobleman of Crossout was banned and Monarch decks often had one or two in the sideboard or even occasionally one in the maindeck.
Love how the treasure cards are number 1. Again why we're these awful anime cards even printed beyond 5Ds fans constantly asking for awful cards being printed and no one sane will play beyond copium thinking they can replicate anime scenes without them being staged
Look, Valkyrion is the coolest looking mother fucker of all time, they knew that if they even gave him a decent effect and summoning condition the meta would be in shambles. For once, Konami saved us, and none of y'all can appreciate the sacrifice they made fr fr.
In defence of Enraged Muka Muka, it can be special summoned from the deck using cards like Giant Rat, It's not a game-changer, but... You know. Silver linings and all that.
I think once in an episode of history of Yugioh where MBT play moai interceptor cannon just because it is horrendous to look at. Which is perfect for a garnet type card
For Moai Interceptor Cannons.... I think it works the way it does because it's suppose to work in tandem with those flip-flop Rock types that got their own Structure Deck featuring Exod as the "boss". Though the concept was ditched latter on for being..... well, bad.
First the Pot of Greed, which I swear does something relating to card draw, now an Avatar of The Pot? I swear, eventually you'll be able to fuse them. The monster will have the effect to Draw 3 Cards when summoned.
Imma have to call out Armor Exe's placementt simply because its the highest attack rock 4 star for summomer monk dark gaia decks in early XYZ era :3 smonk fetch exe, overlay for Lavalval Chain and detach exe and dump a fiend and now your calling is live
I don’t care. Yes, Crystal Skull, Ashoka Pillar, and Cabrera Stone are cards with detriments to them, but if Yusei could make them work, anybody could. One card this guy forgot to mention is the Curse Reflection Doll, which is a quick-play spell that can shift the damage you would normally take from a monster effect to your opponent instead. That’s especially good if you’re about to summon Crystal Skull. Or at the very least, use Skill Drain, which negates monster effects. I may not play Duel Links, but so what? Even the worst have their advantages to them if the duelist is smart enough to figure out how to bring them out.
oh no, saying Valk's bad is fightin words! We obviously cheat this card out with Delta, and do that to either help make a Magnum, a 2nd Magnum, or just add to the damage to help that deck OTK with multiple big bodies. Regular Polys, Fusion Gate, and currently in MD we still have Verte anaconda, so theres that. we can easily fuel the delta grave eff with Epsilon, and Berserkion just acts as a D.A.D. for Magnets but Magnum+ Valk and pals is whats hitting for game. Its never going to be competitive, but in low power tournements/locals- this deck is a heavy hitter, and Valkyriekion is apart of it
Types with a Top 10 Worst of List: Reptile, Rock, Dragon, Cyberse, Fish, Zombie Leaves Spellcaster, Warrior, Beast-warrior,Beast, Winged-beast, Machine, Fiend,Fairy, Insect, Dinosaur, Aqua, Thunder, Plant, Psychic, Wyrm and Illusion (didn't count Divine-beast since it has way too few members). You gonna cover them right Logs?
Honestly ashoka pillar is good. Pretty much the best level 3 earth rock if you feel like making mat beast in adamancipator. It's far from optimal, but its a pretty good option.
If you're going to count Sand Stone, you might as well throw in Stone Dragon, who has the absolute lowest ATK of any non-Pendulum Normal Monster that requires two tributes, tied with Slot Machine.
I think part of the reason why Sand Stone specifically was picked is because it has worse stats than Giant Soldier of Stone, which was released in the same set, had the same attack power, higher defense at 2000, and was level 3, making it outclassed even way back then. And this was back when people cared about how high of stats their monster had for their level a lot more so than they do today, so higher level monsters were expected to have good statlines if they wanted to get played -- this is part of why the monarchs were as popular as they were when they were first printed, even if their powerful effects on-summon were arguably their biggest selling point. But I'm honestly not sure where Stone Dragon comes into this discussion here, but looking at it's stats for it's level, it's probably worse than Sand Stone because it's attack is more in-line with what you'd expect out of a 1 tribute monster.
U can special summon Valkyrion without respecting his summons condition with another card too (maybe the magnet boss monster) & u can fuse him also
Dude the fact that rush duels give the magents actual good effects and fuse with each other sucks dude i lowkey love magents
Valkyrion was a popular choice for Dark Gaia OTKs back in the GX years since it would give you a Dark Gaia with a minimum ATK of 3500
@TheGreatSalsaMan That's true but man magnets reallt need a fusion based card

I remember getting the rock structure deck one day from the hospital’s gift shop. Kind of fond of it for that reason.
I think I only used it because it had good Stats
I think it also involves the aztec statue card, that doubles damage taken. I remember play this strategy in the past in GX game in nintendo DS, combined with continuous destruction punch spell. Not good, really slow, but still fun regardless.
You're not the only one. I didn't see your comment before I posted mine. I still have the cards from that structure deck.
Back in the day I would always run Enraged Muka Muka in decks that had Giant Rat in them as well, So I could cheese it out that way.
If any of you were smart back in the day like I was you'd know giant rat was the best way to summon it
That's fair, it's easy to forget in GOAT format, you generally weren't using every card in your hand and using Giant Rat to summon it for free to get a respectable high attack monster on the field sounds pretty solid, especially given it grows every turn and that may be all you need to push for game if you wiped out all your opponent's big beaters and are going for a long game.
Moai Cannons were also used with Rock Cards that deals extra Damage when their Defense is higher than the attackers ATK
Man it stings seeing the Ancient Treasures at #1
Personally the series is one of my favorites for how interesting the strategy is, that awesome duel Yusei has, and how they feel like the perfect encapsulation of the anime’s message of any and every card being important solely if you believe in it. I’m glad they were acknowledged for having cool effects in the TCG but it feels a little unfair to rank them so low for their appearance in Duel Links rather than the actual card game, considering Granmarg got #10 because he was a bad Monarch and not really that bad of a Rock
You got the wrong video game for Valkyrion. It was really the promo card included in "Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel".
Yea sometimes he throws some random cards on the list if they’re more interesting to talk about
DuelLog's scripts have gotten snarkier and snarkier, and I for one welcome this development
@@mattevans1643 Also, there's the light monarch who can destroy a monster on summon, and is a light which is better than being an earth.
Nah Mega Granmarg is aight. The Granmarg vessel is one of the better ones, so it isn't difficult to get off the effect on top of the bonus draw. I wouldn't run more than 1 of him but he's pretty clutch in certain matches.
5:09 RIP Pot of Greed. The card that will get a million retrains but will never get off the ban list lol.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this!
No, it's just a hairstyle. Marauding Captain's hair is blonde, Monk Fighter's is white. They also have different jawlines.

Ashoka Pillar is a staple in Mikanko so I don't think it deserves to be on here, even if you're primarily examining it's performance in Duel Links
The duel links is also the original anime version that only had the negative effect
Playing the "But in Duel Links" card to fill that video length

Old Yu-Gi-Oh logic, bad R&D...
8:05 - muka muka itself is actually pretty good back in critter :)

SO, basically the intent is to make the Mag-Knight Warriors be the perfect tribute/material fodder for any Monster that would take them as such.
Edit: Sorry, it is "Moai Cannons" .

i love this series 😅
For #1, I think it's moreso Duel Links porting in the anime version of cards before they get retrained in the TCG/OCG. Sherry's Noble Knight's archetype is an example, where we have the anime and TCG versions cards like Shield Bearer and Horse of the Floral Knights (that do share the same name). It's weird.
I've been trying to build a 60-card adamancpator rock pile, and I think I'm yet to find 10 rocks that aren't terrible lol
This video idea rocks
The crystal skull episode of the anime stuck with me for life and idk why.
#5 was used for the structure "Invincible Fortress." The boss monster has an effect to inflict 1000 damage for each flip effect monster flipping face up.
But there's other monsters in the deck you can use better.
I'm more interested in finding out what Master Monk's relationship with Dunames Dark Witch is. There's obviously some kind of story there.
Moai are clearly meant to combo with Exxod for the powerful Rock Burn deck.
Enraged Muka Muka is a target for Giant Rat, which would at least get around the tribute issue.
Reminds me of how I typically get Yubel out from Mystic Tomato. I am surprised The Duel Logs hasn't done a list of the top 10 best/worst recruiters yet.
In the manga and anime Valkyrion was a contact fusion like XYZ Dragon Cannon, Konami completely ruined it by making it a main deck monster.
Fun fact: the 'double effect damage' effect of Totem Pole was added to make the OTK from 5D's possible in the real card game
the point of Moai Interceptor Cannons is to attack, then be able to turn into defense mode in MP2. By turning face-down it also benefits from face-down support, which was a thing at the time.
Is that good?
No, but that's what it's supposed to do.
Other funny thing with avatar of the pot is you dont actually gain anything off its effect. You need to use one card to draw an extra card, so still just a plus 1 which pot already does
Ooh, I'm early! Can we have top 10 worst dragons next?
I love how randomly specific this video is 😂
Muka Muka may not be a good card, but I'll always have a soft spot for it being the card that gave me my first win as a duelist back when I was 10 years old.

_Granmarg the Omega Monarch_ (EARTH)
Level 12
Rock/Effect
_Cannot be Special Summoned. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) Once per turn (Quick Effect), you can Target up to 2 cards on the field; destroy those targets, and if any of them were Set when first Targeted; Either Draw 2 Cards OR Add 1 EARTH Monster that cannot be Special Summoned from your Deck, GY or Banishment to your Hand._
ATK/3800 DEF/1000
So I upped the level and ATK, made it so you can’t special summon it, made it so it supercharges your EARTH Monster Normal Summons, and modified the main effect to A: Be a soft OPT Quick Effect, and B, made it so the “Set” part is optional, but optimal (either letting you draw 2 cards OR letting you search out an EARTH monster that can’t be special summoned.)
Any other “Omega Monarchs” for the other Attributes would follow much of the same pattern.
11:26 GRANMARG the Electromagnet Warrior 🤦
Granmarg also will force you to pop a facedown s/t of your own if your opponent has no facedown s/t. Mobius says: You can....
I like using the electromagnetic warriors and since I recently got the valkyrion berserkion fusion in a master pack I now run a Valkyrion as a garnet that can fuse into a cool bit gimmicky boss monster
Rock monsters are surprisingly . . . solid.
It's funny how the out of place artifacts ended up being wildly out of place in Duel Links
Your dad jokes were pretty rock solid....I'll see myself out now
I can slightly understand Granmarg for the time it came out.
If i played yugioh id play that archeology deck. Those cards have fascinated me ever since the anime.
Love how the treasure cards are number 1.
Again why we're these awful anime cards even printed beyond 5Ds fans constantly asking for awful cards being printed and no one sane will play beyond copium thinking they can replicate anime scenes without them being staged
And here I am thinking Ashoka Pillar actually had a use
Valkyrion is great used it in my Dark Gaia deck plus its level 8 as a trade in target
You will apologise to Granmarg right now dammit!
Imma have to call out Armor Exe's placementt simply because its the highest attack rock 4 star for summomer monk dark gaia decks in early XYZ era :3 smonk fetch exe, overlay for Lavalval Chain and detach exe and dump a fiend and now your calling is live
Genuinely amazed Stone Dragon somehow didn’t end up on this list despite being in your top worst vanillas list
I think Moai Intercepter Cannon was supposed to be used with Shifting Sands and other self-flipping cards like Guardian Sentry.
what im learning is the statue of easter island might be the best rock monster out there
Granmarg is Ironic. Lorewise he's the 3rd strongest Monarch. Gamewise.. Nah.
Shoutouts to "Unexpected Dai" showing up unexpectedly in this video. XD
Valkryon does have a somewhat competitive use, in Edison format. It's a good target for Gaia Turbo decks
2:56 certified James moment
Now i need a retrain for Iron hammer and the star beasts
4:45 the reason why i want pot of greed to be unbanned, or or it to get minimum a "pot of greed" retrain so this thing actually does something
oh no, saying Valk's bad is fightin words!
Its never going to be competitive, but in low power tournements/locals- this deck is a heavy hitter, and Valkyriekion is apart of it
Types with a Top 10 Worst of List: Reptile, Rock, Dragon, Cyberse, Fish, Zombie
Leaves Spellcaster, Warrior, Beast-warrior,Beast, Winged-beast, Machine, Fiend,Fairy, Insect, Dinosaur, Aqua, Thunder, Plant, Psychic, Wyrm and Illusion (didn't count Divine-beast since it has way too few members). You gonna cover them right Logs?
Avatar of the pot into Enraged Muka Muka 🧠
what i use valkyrion for is to turn phantom of chaos into pseudo rescue rabbit (phantom copy valkyrion name and effect, tribute itself for 3 lv4)
Honestly ashoka pillar is good.
Pretty much the best level 3 earth rock if you feel like making mat beast in adamancipator. It's far from optimal, but its a pretty good option.
Top 10 cards that give monsters immunity maybe?
But I'm honestly not sure where Stone Dragon comes into this discussion here, but looking at it's stats for it's level, it's probably worse than Sand Stone because it's attack is more in-line with what you'd expect out of a 1 tribute monster.
i find it ironic that the next video recomended to me is Mah-Dry-Bread's regigigas only pokemon black 2 run
