Thanks to the comments I found a feature to make the vocals sound even better and make this a better sounding speaker all around than the Sonos. Just go to the settings for the Echo studio in the app and then select "Audio settings" and then turn off "Stereo Spatial Enhancement". Makes the vocals much better!
This thing is a piece of junk. I purchased it as a 2nd bluetooth speaker for my Smart TV. It would not sync. I purchased the optical cord and connected it that way. It worked for a few days last night it just stopped working. I cant reset it. It will no longer make a sound. I regret my purchase.
@@ms.c3977 I don't have one, but I just ordered one. I have read that you can fix this issue by changing the TV speaker settings to the internal TV speaker, then back to optical out, and it will work again. Not ideal, but is should work.

From what I've read, I think the problem with the optical cable is that once you use the echo studio for streaming or some Alexa function, you have to go back to the TV settings and turn off and on the optical out. That may explain why it only works for a while. It doesn't make it better, but at least that may explain why.
Hey Travis, great video. I have never owned a Sonos product, but have Echo products including the Studio, a couple dots, and a Flex. One thing People that compare sound usually don't mention is amazon's default setting for the Studio under settings:device settings, and audio settings for the studio to enhance stereo with spacial enhancement. If people are using this setting without knowing it, it will distort certain music. If you haven't already, learned about this try turning it off, this fixes the audio problems most people bring up. At least it did for me, and vocals are very clear. Have a great day!

I've posted on your videos before because I have many many Sonos speakers. I have everything from Play 1, One, Play 5, Sub, and Playbar, AMP, Connect...all throughout my house. I love Sonos and I love how Alexa can easily integrate with Sonos. But when Studio came out, I had to buy it. But I also have many Alexa's throughout my house. Fuck it, I bought 2 Studio's and the Alexa Subwoofer anyway. I'm keeping all my Sonos but the Studio pair plus Sub is freaking awesome. I'm seriously digging left/right Studio with Sub! And it cost me $600 instead of a similar Sonos setup for over $1000. Keep up the great videos brother.

If your Echo studio vocals and midrange on regular music sound muffled, turn off the 3d upscaling or enhancement on the Alexa app. It will sound much better.
I think I may have to be about this! I was playing around with IKEA's new bluetooth speaker just yesterday and the sound from that thing was amazing! Sounds like this may be on par. I have an Echo Dot in my living room but it is wired to my home entertainment system because the sound from the Dot is atrocious! But, sounds like this thing will solve that and I wont be forced to listen through my entertainment system all of the time, plus the option to do so is still there with the 3.5mm jack. Great review! Keep your dot. As good as the studio sounds, it will not compete with my dot hooked up to a full 7.2 theater system plus the 3.5 mm on the studio is line in only, not line out like the dot.

I have a echo show 8 (2nd gen)and the sound is perfect. Looking to reproduce that sound with just a echo device and not necessarily the screen. I was thinking of getting several of the showes( 2 for the price of one studio). What's your take on the sound diffrence?
I might consider getting it if it works with my Nvidia Shield as a bedroom surround sound (when its on sale of course). My living room already has a 5.1 and I would like to replace it with an Atmos 7.1 or 9.1 when quality and prices are right. But in the meantime, this speaker does have my interest if it's Atmos capabilities isn't locked into the Amazon ecosystem. After all, there is a reason why I don't want Apple products in my home. I prefer the freedom of choice to mix and match my electronic components.
I'm still rocking the original echo in my living room and I'm wanting to get into a higher quality of sound so this may be a natural move to upgrade to this one
I am torn between the two. Have you listened to the Bose one? I'm wondering if maybe Bose has both three sound clarity of the Sonos and the loudness and bass of the Studio. I like it loud but I also want a lot of toney deep low hz. bumpey bass along with treble that will give you the chills with clarity. I'm thinking the Sonos might be the best choice for me, because in the near future I want to get Sonos Architectural in ceiling speakers with amp which sound AMAZING btw- they will literally give you the chills and will blow your ears away. So it would be nice to connect this to it and put it in the bathroom for whole home sound. Does the Sonos give you full Alexa skills? What about a video of the amazon echo studio vs the fairly new Sonos move. I don’t own an echo studio and it seems awesome but I do have a Sonos move and I love it. And the move does sound a lot better than the Sonos one and play 1. The Sonos play 1 is kind of old now though.

Can I connect the Echo Studio to my tv without having a fire stick? If I am not wrong, it supports only an optical cable which would down convert the dolby atmos signal to dolby digital. Am I missing something?

Tried this, have to say that Sonos sounded much nicer. Bluetooth connectivity was laggy for me as well. Plus, it's ugly! Sent back. I'm not a believer in true 3d sound from one speaker, sorry :)
But you said there's only 3 songs adapted for it.. So it's not a big deal since it's limited for that big sale for now. For me I have Google Assistant things so Sonos would be on my Christmas list
I bought an echo studio to replace a Sonos one off the back of the great reviews. The echo studio is terrible in comparison to the Sonos one. The tone too sharp and doesn’t sound full, the base is really underwhelming. 3D stereo turned off, it’s a little better but still not a patch on the Sonos.
I referred my dad to this over the Sonos just because he has too many apps on his phone, and he can't remember any of the passwords, and Sonos would be one more, and the specs were legit - and setup would be so much easier. The sound is comparable to my Klipsch bookshelf speakers, but as you note, the vocal clarity is not there - I haven't heard a Sonos, but with the Klipschs, you can hear the singers lips as they move... My dad loved the thing at first listen though. - My family all chipped in to get him Klipsch/Onkyo surround for his home theater, so he's not going to use it for that - but for intended use - He loves it.
Wrong, HiFi is much better than both options, Sonos in my opinion, is terrible. Any modern song will clip the levels and sound terrible and force you to put volume down. Excited to hear the studio soon though

bought multiple sonos speakers for the house. They just don't have that kick/punch. They're great for casual listening to music (think of background music at a store in the mall) However, the amazon studio....BREH! The studio is noooo punk. Its clear, punchy. and great as an indoor speaker or back yard add on for like a BBQ or something. At the $200 pricepoint Amazon is over-delivering.

meh, i own one. I use apple music and its disappointing cause you can't play music playlists on speaker groups (all your echos at once).....Also the base is Aight. The sound quality between the echo and studio isn't worth the money. If i did it all over again i'd get a sonos.

I have both Echo Studio with sub and Bose Home Speaker 500. Both are good but Bose kills it with clarity and adequate bass according to it's size.

Completely different. They aren't looking to battle monitors, it is a smart speaker first, bassy music box second.
