I already did old chap.
Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for!
Glad I could help!
I really like your comparisons! 👍 The two 4 gen sounds better than I expected
I got the Echo yesterday, and I was amazed by its sound. This vid makes sense.
Please do 2 echo dots Gen 4 plus subwoofer vs 1 studio for a cinema setup!!
Thanks for this video, they are now selling those three in a combo, an update with the 3 at same time would be nice
I actually have all of these speakers and I have them in my garage. Over the past summer I've had friends over and it's not uncommon for us to play pool and listen to music. I also have a fridge in the garage that I try and keep stocked full of beer. My friends, guests as well along with myself prefer the wide stereo sound of the 2 x Echo 4th Gens to the singular Echo studio. Also, I bought both of my Echo 4th Gens for $50 each on sale, so, $110 with tax roughly for the pair. The one thing that I think hurt your test is that the Echo 4th Gens are not spread far enough apart so your ears could enjoy and appreciate the stereophonic sound of the pair. Also, the Studio has a larger sub which you needed to compensate for in the two smaller speakers. If it's something you would have done in real life then it's how you should have tested them, so boosting the bass slightly would have been a more accurate test for you. When those two Echo 4th Gens are spread apart and in stereo, the sound is much bigger and dynamic than the single Echo Studio. I wish you could have tested these differently than in this video. Those 2 Echo's 4th Gens that close to one another is not an accurate use-case scenario. People are going to spread them apart across the room to "open-up" the sound profile of the pair. The bass is much deeper and fuller when this is done as well as the bass covers a wider area than the studio. If you can get a pair of these for $100+ tax, these are a fantastic deal for what you get.
i agree, i have 2 studio and i love the way they sound.
Thanks for another great video, i bought an echo 4 gen based on one of your previous videos
Hope you enjoy it!
This is exactly the video I was looking for.
Great comparison video Martin. I have 2 Echo 4th gen. In the Alexa app I put up both the treble and bass to the maximum setting. This made a tremendous difference to the impact of the audio. To my ears, although the Studio had punchier base, it lacked the clarity and sound separation of the Echo 4th gens. I'm thinking of getting the new Echo Studio 2022.
lol not sure what you are expecting by putting treble and bass to maximum but you should get your ears tested ;p
Parabéns pelo comparativo, esclareceu muito. Eu aqui do Brasil lhe agradeço muito.
Você é bem vindo
@@UTILITARIANTVUKis studio better ?
Well, Echo Studio definitely has much more sound and this is why I would go for this. Amazon and Mediatek doing so well together for these devices.
I got two of the 4th gen echos today as part of the Black Friday sale for $74 AU (Around 38 pounds). At 50% off, a pair of these was way cheaper than the studio (even with the studio also being on sale, it was still $260 AU (132 pound)). So looking forward to giving them a test out when they get here. I like the bass from the Studio, but for a much lesser price I am getting true stereo sound. I might add a sub later to beef up the bass, but this should be sweet for now.
I doubt that this was recorded with a static gain, and with auto gain it really hides differences between them.
Static gain on recorder, and test different volume levels with both, as we didn't test things like distortion.
Personally I use echo dots hooked to a small micro amp and use my own speakers. This is the ultimate solution.
Personally, for pleasant background music, I prefer the Echo 4th gen over my Hifi stereo setup. Bass is rich, voices are smooth, nothing grabs your attention. Perfect.
I recommend anyone with these wireless speakers (Echo, Sonos, etc) use the EQ setting in the app and pull the bass back one or two clicks, and the treble by at least as much. Bump up the volume to compensate. Makes the midrange fill out a bit for a more natural full sound, less hyped/fatiguing sound.
I got two echo studios and an echo SUB. I often don't even use the sub.
You got it right on! The studio has better bass for sure. But the stereo separation is nice so it's hard to choose what's better to listen to. The two Echos would probably benefit from a dedicated subwoofer.
yes then they'd for sure win, but that adds £120 and makes the setup far more expensive than 1 echo studio
I have two of the Echo 4s on my nightstands in one of my condos. For ~$50 each, I can't think of a better-sounding speaker for the size.
I added an external Bluetooth receiver piped into the Aux-Ins of the Echos so I can get true stereo Bluetooth audio on them from my tablet or phone. Tablet/phone control >>> Echo's built-in options. Set them up as a Stereo pair in the Echo app and the volume control on one will control the other, even when using the Aux in.
great video! im going with the echo studio, thank you for this it has helped me make my decision!!
Thansk for the video. I literally couldn't decide this. I actually like what u said about the studio being fulle round and punchier bass. I will get that thanks!!
I work in a loud sheet metal shop next to a press brake with a loud hydraulic pump. I picked up a gen 4 echo last summer to replace my old Bluetooth speaker.
I didn't didn't want to go bluetooth again, loosing connection every time I walk away from my work area.
I wanted something that would connect to the company network and play music independently of my phone.
The catch was that I wanted to be able to control the music and volume from my phone. Amazon echo and Amazon music does just that.
The gen 4 echo isn't quiet loud enough. Some songs are adequate while others are not loud enough. Volume equalization only seems to lower overall volume.
I decided the answer isn't more volume, but more speakers spread out. This evening I bought a second echo, on sale. The plan is to put one echo on one side of my work area and the other on the opposite side.
Both of these devices! The echo is a nice device and I can’t wait to get the new one
Hey, these days you could do a sound test of an echo sub with two echo studio and 2 echo generation 4, I would be very grateful if you did. Please and thank you.
Thanks for this video. Very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Yes sir having Echo Studio is better as it's Dolby Atmos n overall has best sound output and also adopts to acoustics of the room
Doesn't the Echo adapt too?
I think what you forgot to mention sir is that the studio is Dolby sound and the dot's aren't. I've tried adding two dots to my studio but can't get it to work apparently you have to have two dots and a echo bass speaker. Or two studios.
You can't stereo pair dots with the larger 4th gen either.
Now with two Echo studio 😈, good review btw, I think you have more play with two Echo 4th
The 2 echos'' sound better than I expected but the studios is still a lot better on it's own
What about playing all 3 of them together would you get a decent sound?
I just set up 2 Echo Dot 4th gens on either side of my couch for a small home theater setup and they sound AMAZING!
Did you set up the 2 echo to play from tv at the same time ? Can you connect the two of them?
@@arizaleta1 I connected them both to my Fire TV Cube
@@arizaleta1 to answer your questions a little better yes they play my tv audio that comes from the Fire TV at the same time but it’s also a left and right channel as well meaning that if sound on the TV on the right side of whatever you are watching then it will come out of the right speaker and visa versa with the left giving you audio that will blow away any built in tv speakers
Im thinking to do this, bought 1 echo dot 4th gen, to replace my broken echo 3. The sound of the echo dot is so tiny 😢
@@nathansanchez5 yeah unfortunately that is the case but if you were to pair it with a second echo dot similar to what I did that could probably help. I definitely recommend larger speakers if you were able to but the echo dot is not terrible in my opinion.
I agree with you
Studio - Better..... Maybe all 3 together would be best...???
Good video but no db meter or osliscope!
I have my echo4 but should I buy 1 more or go for echo sub cause I really like to listen bass wen playing music
Really liking these reviews! ... I have a question, currently I have 2 echo 4th gens with a projector ... I have recently acquired a majority Sierra plus soundbar and sub and these are now connected for a home cinema set up ... I feel as though the 4th gens are better?!? Sub is not as pronounced obviously but Dolby Atmos content seems better on the echos?. Are my ears deceiving me fyi, never considered myself to be any kind of audiophile so could do with your expertise! Cheers Chris
The 4th Gens to tend to give very clear mids, so the voices come through quite well. The Echo studio will do a better job with Atmos as it has an upward firing speaker.
That's great, will look to get the studios then on prime day ... thanks for the quick response!
I have done similar $200 smart speaker comparisons with my Echo Studio on its own, my Sonos One Gen 2 on its own, and two 4th Gens in stereo pair. For that amount of money two 4th Gens are what I would personally buy.Stereo pairing speakers just makes sound that much wider and clearer.I also tried pairing a Sub the 4th Gens and it made very little difference to my ears. The Sonos had superior clarity to the Echos but the sound stage was extremely narrow with very little bass. For a very loud and bassy smart speaker pair I would be looking at two Studios IMO
Thanks
Sonos one or a echo studio wich has better sound quality?
I've got the echo 4th generation and dissapointed in how loud it gets. I was thinking of getting the studio. Wouldn't the wattage be more on the studio?
The Studio is louder and does have more watts. It still doesn't go super loud though.
Remember yes higher wattage can mean louder it normally does but sometimes it’s just by a bit cause the studio has 5 speakers to share that power with
Hi, Would you recommend two 4th gens and a sub over a soundbar and sub - on the same budget (approx 300), cheers!
For around that price, I'd recommend the edifier s350db 2.1 system over both of them.
Here's a video I did comparing two echo studios plus sub against the edifier s350db th-cam.com/video/ZeaO6dc8TjY/w-d-xo.html
I have 2 stereo sets of gen 4 one set in each bedroom and I have a single studio in the kitchen , I prefer the sound of the 4th gen, I don't know if the studio has a problem but the stereo 4th gen sound so much better.
I think it comes down to each individual's preference. I liked the sound of the studio over the stereo paired 4th gens but someone else may hate the sound of the studio?
How do you pair them to play from both speakers
the studio is much fuller, no surprise. And the 4th gens do sound thinner. So I agree with this guy!
Can i connect an acho 4 Premium + echo Studio on home theater mode firestick 4k? Nice vídeo!!!
You need to use 2 of the same speaker for theatre mode. 2 echo studios or 2 echo 4th gens etc. You can't use different echo speakers.
The two echo 4th gens sound somewhat harsh/bright. The studio sounds more pleasant.
Some prefer bright some prefer bass heavy but videos will never represent a sound unless your in the room hearing it the 4’s are balanced but the studio is better for a sound system for movies lol but for the price of a echo 4 you can’t beat it I just got one for $64 Canadian 😆
They are good but missing the solid punchy bass. They need a subwoofer I think.
I know im late to the party echo studio on its own better sound than the 2 4th gens, im using head phones.
keep up the good work mate.
Which has the loudest sound? Great video!!
The studio is louder.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK Thanks
This is where the Echo Sub is amazing
What has better sound quality the echo studio or the JBL Charge 5?
I've not heard the JBL Charge sorry.
The echo studio is also using its microphones to calculate the distribution of sound around the room which will become more apparent when listening to immersive and Dolby media. The two 4thGens are just dumb speakers pumping out sound with zero regard of the room.
Naturally the Studio sounds better though because it's physically a bigger woofer AND heavier so it can produce slower (lower frequency vibrations) than the smaller 4thGens - The Studio has a physical advantage
One Echo alone is not enough for me personally. Either two Echo Studio or two Echo as a stereo pair. Depends on how much money you want to spend.
I got two echo 4s at the store I work at for under $100 for the set. To me it was worth it compared to one Echo Studio. I may get a studio eventually and have them all place at once.
you can complete them with echo sub.
that accent is unmistakable, are you from south wales?
Yes I am! 😀
C'est très bien, j'aime beaucoup et tu semble un bon homme
Is the studio really worth it if you have a soundbar
Depends on how good your soundbar is but if you're not worried about the echo smarts, a soundbar is better.
Echo studio hands down
If I'm not wrong the dots have a better and newer processor than the studio, How's the smartness of both of these?
It's not any faster and the mics aren't any better. th-cam.com/video/HPHCe7tPrkw/w-d-xo.html
How about compare with a pair of Echo Studio?
I did two 4th gens plus sub vs 2 studios th-cam.com/video/XPDZl3tK_ao/w-d-xo.html
The 2 Echos sounded better from here!!!
The echo 4th gen is a far better value than the cumbersome echo studio. The echo studio is a good static speaker. It's hardly transportable. It is also too expensive for what it is.😢 The echo 4 has beautiful all-around sound. Why pay so much for the echo studio...there's no need. My opinion of a person who was once a bowers and wilkins audiophile....back in the day.
Can the Echo 4th gen be hooked up to my TV via optical cable?
It has a 3.5mm audio jack. You could connect it to the TV if your TV has a headphone socket. If not, you have to use a digital analogue converter. You can get one for around £10?
Studio 👌💪
Adjust settings on Echo Gen 4 for meatier bass sound...
Eagerly waiting for the Echo Sub review. 👍
Can I connect my mobile to 2 echo 4th gen speakers and use as 2.1?
No, it's not possible.
Great video can you use 2 echo dots and 1 echo studio for home theater setup as one group
You could pair them with an echo sub but not an echo studio. For the home theatre set up you need two of the same speaker. E.g. 2 echo studios, 2 echoes or 2 echo dots. Each pair will only pair with an echo sub in the home theatre set up.
That's a shame. The echo studio is marketed initially as the only speaker you will ever need with equal woofers as the Sub. Why not Amazon allow the studio to be used as a center speaker with woofer in a 5.1 setup along with 2 echos
Your stereo field for the two speakers is very narrow. You’re not getting the full stereo effect like when you have the speakers father apart. Try that and judge again.
Mate can u connect 2 echo 4th gen and sub to a jvc fire tv ?
You can connect an echo speaker to that TV but not sure whether you can stereo pair? I'd imagine it's possible?
I liked the two Studios, but because I watch a lot of dialogue intensive shows and movies. I don't watch a lot of blockbuster movies, sports, or listen to music. So, while more bass is great for a dance party, it is distracting when trying to understand what characters are saying.
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻👏🏻 Awesome review really liked it thanks for sharing it appreciate it
I prefer the two echoes.
2 echo 4's were cleaner, more open sounding - bass better balanced. Studio sounded muddy with bass overemphasized.
Would the 2 x 4th gens sound better playing vinyls than a studio? Trying to decide between the two options as I was to use them for the tv too.
I would imagine a studio would still be better? However, If you have space, I would also consider using some 2.1 powered hi-fi speakers instead. You'll get much better sound quality. A few weeks back, I posted a video comparing some Edifier S305DBs to 2 Echo Studios plus an Echo Sub. IMO, the Edifiers were much better. Watch it here th-cam.com/video/ZeaO6dc8TjY/w-d-xo.html
@@UTILITARIANTVUK thanks mate.
Speakers are to close together, no stereo separation unfair test, studio will win as it’s designed to mimic a wide range. Place the gen 4 6ft apart then do it again
I had them at 6ft apart in another room. Wasn't really that much difference and the echo studio was still better IMO.
Who is better?
The solo Studio sounds better. 👍
In my country getting two Echo is 50% cheaper than getting a single Echo studio 😢
the sound on the studio is richer
Can u connect 2 echo 4th gens to your iPhone to listen to music on Spotify
Or even 3 echos
Try another song please xD. I prefer the echo 4 anyway
Sure I'll use this next time th-cam.com/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/w-d-xo.html ;-)
Good video but please edit out the trigger word Alexa. You said Alexa level 9 and nearly blew my speakers out.
Or you could mute your Alexa. 🤣
You’ve just saved me £100? Our 5th gen needs support to extend around the house and the studio didn’t sound that great on the high end.
Sir That's a echo dot 4 it only has 1.6-inch driver
My wife told me that size doesn't matter. Maybe she's lying? 🤔
@@UTILITARIANTVUK she probably is because the small one is the echo dot 4th generation with a 1.6-inch driver but the echo gen 4 is the big boy with a subwoofer and 2 tweeters

Yes that's a pretty good deal.
I can get two for under 100 USD
more bass less surround sound thats the difference

These companies should be paying people to have them.
Echo studio hands down ... better quality ...better bass ...like the stage better
330watt on the studio, 30watt on each echo, makes sense
