I am right there with you. I purchased a HomePod when it was first introduced and it has exceeded my expectations for how well a speaker (of its size) can sound. One day I’d love to purchase a 2nd HomePod to put in a stereo pair. Down the line I’d love to see a “HomePod Pro” which would allow you to place a HomePod in each of the 4 corners of a room and pair them together to create fully immersive 3D system for music, TV shows, and movies.
I have the Echo Studio with the Subwoofer and I could not be happier....I have no reason now to get out of bed...(it's in my bedroom)...it's smart, answers my questions, plays my music and movies, and tells me what is going on in the world and frankly, it's a cold dark world out there but it's bright and sunny and cheery and I can dance to it in here, Cheers!
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
I just have a HomePod with a few Echo Dots lying around the house. If I want to listen to music I pump up the HomePod. Otherwise I just use Echo to do all the smart things.
As inexpensive as the 'dots' are this is a good arrangement. Downside: my Echo Show 8 units don't 'hear' very well a) if there's even medium ambient noise or b) if I'm to the side or behind the Echo.
It seems like a good approach, which I tend to do, is have both HomePod and Echo or Alexa devices. But the Alexa devices can be cheap ones for quick questions, etc. Then use the HoemPod for tight Apple integration, and better sound.
Have you tried the echo studio with 3D music against it though? Not sure what difference it would make but if you’re pitting these two against each other surely you should be testing the maximum capabilities of each rather than bringing the echo down to the home pods level by just using Bluetooth?
Kyle Clevenger well in the video he says he can’t stream Spotify on the HomePod like he can on the echo studio, so for a level playing field he used Bluetooth on both I think! So yeah, not using the full potential of either
Excellent, insightful review! I think both have their redeeming features. The Echo Studio is significantly less expensive, and also allows wired connection to sound sources, which is a major plus in terms of versatility.
You left out a key component... Bluetooth. HomePod doesn’t have Bluetooth and can only pair with AppleTV 4K, can’t even pair it with my iPad Pro when I watch a movie. The Echo Studios has Bluetooth and can pair with EVERYTHING.
I have 2 Echo Studios paired for Home Theater with the Firestick 4k...if you want Dolby Atmos...the studio echos will blow your mind. After watching this video.... I’m still not sold on the HomePod. The Studios offer a brighter, crisp sound and thumping bass - great when you watch movies, sports, news, and all types of music. Love this review but I would say go for the Studios instead.

Hey there, I picked up the Echo studio earlier this week as I was curious about the 3D audio, which you made no mention of in this video, and the ATMOS compatibility when paired to certain FireTV products (which I currently can't comment on) For smart assistants I've chosen both Google and Amazon over apple, I just find they can do more, and are compatible with a wider range of products. I use Apple products a well, but after seeing Siri through the phone, ipad, and the Mac, I just felt it was too limited compared to the others. I can't comment on HomePod, as I haven't gotten one, but I can say, how music sounds depends on so many factors, the recording, and master, the mix, how the equalize is set on equipment, type and genre of music, etc. I have a JBL Pulse 3, a second BT speaker from Onn, a couple of sound bars with a dedicated sub, and rear speakers for true 5.1, an echo plus 2nd and echo dot 3rd, plus the Studio. I find in all fairness, that each device services different types of music equally different so each device can sound equally good or bad based on those factors. Anyway love the video, and have a great day!
Waiting for a Homepod 2 at this point. I keep feeling like Apple are going to drop one right after I spend the money. Would love Siri to be as good as Alexa.
1) you're wrong; next-gen homepod is gonna be awhile, no earlier than late 2021 imho. 2) even if Apple releases an improved device the aftermarket for the 'old' homepod will stay strong. Borrow a homepod for a few days- amazing sound. You'll miss it when you return it to your friend. If you're in the ATL area I'll lend you one of mine. Great sound is addictive :)
Design wise, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the cylindrical design of the Echo released before the HomePod? So then, it would be the HomePod that took styling cues from Echo?
I got a HomePod recently and very happy with it some songs as loud as I can actually turn it down some songs I can’t get loud don’t know if it just depends.
I can’t tell you how many people have visited my house and been shocked at the sound quality of the little HomePod. Some have not even heard of it before. Oh, and the outro of Tim Cook makes me laugh every time.

The weird channel Amazement I still think that both sounds great together and you can connect the audio to the tv and sit down for a theater like experience. Hi fidelity comes out from this speaker up to 300kps, dacc, flac and much more. Also every speaker in the HomePod have a amp.

Yes the Studio can be paired for stereo, Yes they monitor their position too. I cant agree with your 'fair review' statement. He didnt use all the Studios features to do a well rounded review. Limited the audio on the Studio to bluetooth quality because that's all the home pod can do... (probably wouldn't of made a massive difference but still.) Also didnt test the 3D audio that is built in to the Studio. Even if there is limited 3d music at the moment would of been nice to have a comparison to standard audio :/ First and last time viewer of this channel :(

Because of all your videos on the HomePods, I’ve decided to replace my current setup with two white HomePods. Audio is my primary focus too, and I’m an Apple user so to me it’s a given that Siri is basic, so it really does work better for me. Thank you for all your efforts and feedback on your experience with HomePod that I could get that clear for myself. I’m curious tho. In your first video you had a space grey HomePod. I have owned both. I recently returned my homepod due to the echo studio just sounding louder, cleaner, and the bass is more memorable. The echo studio also connects to Amazon fire TV for Dolby Atmos surround sound, let me tell ya it's amazing!
I’ve listened to both and prefer the HomePod. The bass is tighter and the imaging is better. Don’t get me wrong, the Echo Studio sounds good, but just not quite as good as the HomePod.
That is where the echo fails as a smart device. It can wirelessly stream neither lossless music, nor atmos. WiFi 6 has been around longer than this Echo Studio.

For me the audio I would simply put it as amazon slaps you in the face with its audio but apple caress you with theirs, its just so buttery smooth and balanced and the bass is unbeatable
Yes the HomePod is sound quality is amazing! After contamplating for months going to BestBuy listening to both of these speakers I went for the HomePod and I bought two of these babies for stereo mode. They look great and sound great. The deal breaker for me on the Eco Studio was that it distorts at 100% volume and it looks ugly.

Does the the echo studio allow you to pair with other devices and listen to something other than just amazon music or pandora like the Echo Sub pair? I have my house cleaning playlist (5 years old mp3 playlist lol )on my phone and I can't use it on my sub pair. But if I use "play everywhere" (2- echo shows, 2- 3rd gen Echo's) it works but the sub is not connected. Amazon won't update their products to be compatible with never speakers. So Fire TV and Firesticks won't connect to sub either.
I just got an Echo Studio and completely agree with your conclusions. I have a HomePod and the sound is just crisper overall. The biggest advantage of the Echo is that it has Bluetooth. I think Apple killed the HomePod’s potential by not making it compatible with Bluetooth devices. If it would be compatible, hands down I wouldn’t even be looking at other options in this category.
The home pods sound is too compressed. At loud volumes people perceive quality. The Echo has a way wider dynamic range and fidelity. All opinion though.
Hey Efron great video I loved it!! But I think you forgot 1 important point which is price. The HomePod is $300 meanwhile the Studio is $200 so for the price Conscious consumers that might mean a lot, not to mention for the price of 2 homepods (600$) in stereo mode for even more great sounds you can get 2 echo studios for stereo plus a echo sub which will help out with the low end for $530.
Many people that have not much idea of audio quality make this type of test I want to know the difference with "dolby atmos" that is the new feature in Echo Studio, but people just play music from their iphones to make these tests. my Question is does Atmos really works?
I tried it on a few tracks and I heard almost no difference. Plus the feature is limited to certain tracks and only on Amazon Music. Kind of a gimmick IMO
It’s a video the speaker actually has full sound. And it sounds very well. Deep bass shakes the floor and counter. The high end times war clear and not bright and harsh they are smooth. Also they 360 audio adaptation that works with any acoustic in any room sounds truly theater like.
Funny how you didn't seem to mention how an Echo Studio can be paired with a smartphone TV also and with two echo studios you can get great affects watching movies from Netflix.
So in My country Apple has just announced that it is gonna start selling Homepod so do you think if Sound Quality is my first priority with some Smart Speaker Features I should stick to Homepod ? But I get confused thinking Amazon Speaker is just so freakin smart !! That is when I get in a Fix ? So what do you suggest ?
we're talking about smart speaker here. HomePod is good SPEAKER, but Siri is not as SMART as Alexa on EchoStudio. For me smart weight more when I decide which one I'll go with.

Great to see you back with a very fair review. I love the audio quality of my HomePod’s and if only Apple would give in and allow built-in support for other music services it would be the best choice for Apple users by some way.
From my experience , homepod delivers better quality with apple music rather than Airplay from spotify. I just don't know why Edit: they sound pretty much the same now, i think Spotify "fixed" it

Down to homepods level? HomePod doesn’t use Bluetooth, it plays over WiFi. The echo studio wants to be a HomePod so bad but failed.

I have 2 echo studios just got them yesterday and set them up today in stereo mode they sound great and that’s not playing HD music.

Well I bought 2 echo studio and the echo subwoofer 🔊 for my bedroom hope it goes well and 2 echo speaker 🔈 stands.
Actually yes I felt the sound difference between the two speakers , I still prefer echo for the smart technology they have

Haven’t tested that but probably the Echo. Its hearing capabilities are unreal. Even the very first Echo is incredible.

Hey Efron great video I loved it!! But I think you forgot 1 important point which is price. The HomePod is $300 meanwhile the Studio is $200 so for the price Conscious consumers that might mean a lot, not to mention for the price of 2 homepods (600$) in stereo mode for even more great sounds you can get 2 echo studios for stereo plus a echo sub which will help out with the low end for $530.

Many people that have not much idea of audio quality make this type of test I want to know the difference with "dolby atmos" that is the new feature in Echo Studio, but people just play music from their iphones to make these tests. my Question is does Atmos really works?
I tried it on a few tracks and I heard almost no difference. Plus the feature is limited to certain tracks and only on Amazon Music. Kind of a gimmick IMO
It's funny how much you love that song from Dr. disrespect. Echo sounds VERY flat, kind of hollow.
It’s a video the speaker actually has full sound. And it sounds very well. Deep bass shakes the floor and counter. The high end times war clear and not bright and harsh they are smooth. Also they 360 audio adaptation that works with any acoustic in any room sounds truly theater like.

Funny how you didn't seem to mention how an Echo Studio can be paired with a smartphone TV also and with two echo studios you can get great affects watching movies from Netflix.

So in My country Apple has just announced that it is gonna start selling Homepod so do you think if Sound Quality is my first priority with some Smart Speaker Features I should stick to Homepod ? But I get confused thinking Amazon Speaker is just so freakin smart !! That is when I get in a Fix ? So what do you suggest ?

we're talking about smart speaker here. HomePod is good SPEAKER, but Siri is not as SMART as Alexa on EchoStudio.
For me smart weight more when I decide which one I'll go with.

Great to see you back with a very fair review. I love the audio quality of my HomePod’s and if only Apple would give in and allow built-in support for other music services it would be the best choice for Apple users by some way.

From my experience , homepod delivers better quality with apple music rather than Airplay from spotify. I just don't know why
