    Can you use this as a front camera too? It’s cheaper than the front camera

      True, it is cheaper. There are two issues:
      1. When recording, the red revolving lights are on and this will be a problem and may even be illegal in many places (red lights need to face back).
      2. Mounting would not be as easy. This is setup for the rear. That said, if you purchase a mount and the 'garmin style' plastic mount, then it could work. Though consider these are extra costs.
      Summary, with the front facing red light, I would not recommend this - instead look for other cameras. Many however may be even less user-friendly or be orientated for action cam sports use which means higher quality footage but less battery life / runtime.

      @@bicyclesnetau I’m in USA so it’s definitely legal to put any color light on the front. Also I would use it strictly as a dashcam in case of a crash. Do you know if the battery life would be sufficient for 4 hours a day and if not, will a 10000 mAh battery pack suffice as a power source for 4-5 hours?

      @@Pintexx New, these will last for 4 hours though without all the extra light functions (ie. unnecessary lights stay off).
      Formerly, Cycliq have said not to use external charging.... but in practice I know people who have used them without problem. Battery packs can be tricky - so I would start without initially.
      Mobius used to be a very low cost solution ... quality was not as good and it didn't loop, but was far cheaper so I would still have a look, though most cameras including the discount / cheap and nasty tend to be action cam orientated with short lifespans. However I would be curious if a dashcam with power source could be repurposed.

    I have a Gen 3, and after about a year and a half the battery wouldn't take a charge. And I guess it's difficult to replace the internal battery yourself. I made a comment on the Fly6 home page. They wanted a purchase receipt number or something. I couldn't find it anywhere. So a while later I bought a new Fly6CE. I hope I don't have the same problem with the battery.

    I would record my ride but the FLy6 Gen3 That Cycliq sent me has not ever worked. They refuse to support me now that formatting the SD card (Cycliq card) did not fix the problem . They now ignore my requests for a refund. DO not buy this product unless you like to have fancy paperweights.

      Did you buy this directly from Cycliq or from another retailer? You first point of contact (regarding consumer protection laws) is the retailer.
      I understand that Cycliq have had supply issues (much longer than many other brands) though they appear to still be active on social media. They have used an outsourced customer support service so it is probably time to seek out their direct emails and try and make contact. If you are not getting much joy, contact your bank and see if there is an option to reverse the payment.

      Same here for me. I got a Fly 6 Gen3, took it for my first ride and within 30mins it died on me. I thought i did not charge it enough but it was water ingress or more like lithium battery leakage. Contacted my local seller and he has able to get me a replacement unit. However this 2nd unit also suffered power off/on failure for no apparent reasons after 6 months of use. I submitted a ticket on Cycliq website informing them of the issue and how I followed their website instruction to do a master reset on the Fly6 Gen3 as published with no effect. They asked for my receipt which I do not have as this unit was a replacement from the 1st that failed. Cycliq then told me that as this is a second hand unit, the warranty is over and also do not provide any solution to reset the unit. So, buyers beware. If you are lucky, you receive a good unit. If not, they are over priced paper weights. Look up TH-cam and you’ll find numerous recurring issues over years ago which Cycliq still have not found a way to resolve.

    Bad: the old one looked like a light with an unobtrusive camera lens, the new one looks like a camera with LEDs below. You don't want people to think you are filming. Go back to a red light appearance.

      An opposing viewpoint is that if others know that they are being filmed, they may be more aware of their actions so there is less abuse or safety risk to the bike rider.
      Originally Cycliq was pushing that message with an idea that it would be well-known that bicycle riders are filming though the reality was that most drivers are not interest as it is not commonplace to be assumed.

      Great comment. This was filmed in Germany where the overwhelming majority of car drivers look out for bike riders and on straights you can usually very safely keep to the side and can expect that drivers will slow and wait until it is safe to pass or when there is space can still slowly overtake safely even when there is oncoming traffic.
      Cycling in Australia is a different story, there are more aggressive and impatient drivers who struggle to identify when it is safe to overtake or the risk of close overtaking. With these driver unfortunately 'occupying the lane' is necessary to persuade more thoughtful overtaking, but along with the obligatory menacing behaviour and insults if they feel bike riders shouldn't be on the road.
