What I Miss About Living In US ( Living In Dominican Republic )

  • I didn’t live in the US for my entire life only about 8 years. I’m originally from the Dominican Republic but only lived in the Dominican Republic for about the first 5 years of my life. This is relevant because I’m not 13 years old, so there’s a gap of almost 14 years of me living in places like Tortola and Puerto Rico. ( I’ll tell you later how that affected me )
Now I live full-time here in the Dominican Republic, is there anything I miss? I’ll talk about the few things I miss and the truth behind them.

    1. Convenience In The US (this is my fault and my Choice )
    - Amazon
    - Uber
    - Insta Cart
These are all things that are used a lot
    - Here Amazon Prime doesn’t work, more like Amazon 1 week
    - Uber is mostly for cities, so here we use buses, taxis, and moto taxi
    - Insta cart, not where I live
If I lived in the Capital or Punta Cana:
    - I could probably have access to one of these services
    - But the truth is, it would be such a waste of money
    - We shop for groceries maybe weekly
    - And amazon not arriving so fast, has saved me a lot of money on shopping like a crazy person and spending money on Prime
    2. Highways and Roads
    - This I really miss about the US
    - You have no idea how much safer it is to drive in the US than in Dominican Republic
    - While I’ve been here I’ve been in two accidents, people backing up without looking and people trying to pass me on a highway without time
The Best advice for people is:
    - Create a routine where you don’t need to drive long distances
    - Try to drive at night
    - And learn to protect the other person
    - Be patient
    3. Food quality
    - Although American food sucks for the most part
    - We do have options in certain places to shop for organic
    - Here that doesn’t really happen ( it’s a very small market )
    To me it's important:
    - The meat you eat
    - The fruits
    - The veggies
    - Filled with chemicals and pesticides
    Long-term solution for this:
    - Grow your own food those you see me learning the basics
    - With the latest video I made
    4. Poverty
    - This seems strange but it's true
    - Poverty in the US which I was in the section for a few years myself is different
    - We were poor but
    The difference:
    - We had internet
    - Phone service
    - Food
    - Fridge
    - Housing
    - And all the basics
    That’s not the case here
    - I know certain people say the Dominican Republic is not a third-world country that its rapidly developing
    - But go to the neighborhoods, go to the hospitals, go the markets, and lastly visit people in their homes
    5. Recreational Activities
    - Like parks
    - Running people
    - Sports people
    - Just more recreation
    The truth:
    - The most wealth the community is, the more you see this
    - But here depending on where you live, and I live in a not wealthy neighborhood at all
    - Those things are not given any importance
    The gyms here are:
    - Are disasters atleast where I live
Let me know if you want me to make a video about the things I don’t miss about living in the US

Many Dominicans can be difficult, many think foreigners are gullable and ignirant. I would say, they are protected by Law enforcement in their country, if a Dominican pull the scams they do in America. The law would be in our side, to physically defend yourself and your property

I like your honesty. I am Peruvian, moved to the US when I was 16. There is a very good reason thousands of people risk their lives to come to the US. In third world countries there are no labor laws and there is real poverty

@@TommyBrysonlmao yeah ok good luck having your power go out every 5 minutes. Not to mention if you want to go out to eat in an even moderately ok restaraunt it’s like 15 dollars. Nevermind something upscale, it’s basically midsized U.S. prices. No thanks , plenty of other budget places that are safer, more culture, better food, etc .,

I completely agree with all your points, I am from DR aswell and have studied in the USA for a while and is just not the same thing, sure there are nice areas in DR but the danger of driving, the literal risk of walking on the street, you have to think twice about getting the latest phone or a nice watch, the lack of consistent electricity and a long etc make it a not very desirable place, also it is very boring unless you live in the capital or punta cana as you mentioned, and the cost of living is high, the difference between the prices of the US and DR are not that big when we factor the low income if you are earning in Dominican Pesos. Thanks for your perspective.

Same! I actually get bloated and sick here all the time here in the US and when I go in DR and the food quality for me is better. I have celiac and lactose intolerance. Not sure where he lives but all things considered food wise is its better almost at the same price I buy it here.

Why did you even move over there ? There are States in US with low cost of living and prices of homes are very affordable , lije Tennessee , my friend and her family moved there because everything in California is very expensive . They’re happy there , and not dangerous . They are also away from the city but safe .You should fo your research before moving there .

    YOUR POTENTIAL COACHING/COUNSELING PROJECT:
The TH-camrs that I am a member follower, Quazi and AliAbdoul both have professional, Ivy League backgrounds, in fact, Ali, was once a doctor.
While I get value from following them, they don’t have the local community and expertise that you have demonstrated. You would reach an entirely different demographic and audience. More to consider……., if I had your experience of the states AND the Dominican Republic, I see a great opportunity to help the people.
