Hi, Jay; for your information, we have great brain surgeons here, and our doctors also perform open heart surgery on a regular basis, with 0 complications; you can find a qualified specialist for any medical emergency that arises; and that includes back and neck surgery, too. Great video, stay safe and congrats.
Thanks bro, for sharing this. Hopefully viewers read your comment so they will know. Do you know what the best hospitals here for those types of complex conditions?

During my visit, when we linked up, it took me 3 days to establish a personal bank account at Banreservas. The min amount was, as you stated, $500 USD. Additionally, I applied for and was approved for a loan of $180k. What's crazy is that took all of 2 hrs and included approval of an open account and debit card. DISCLOSURE: The loan was NOT through Banreservas, only the personal banking account. Association Cibao approved my loan. Additionally, I misquoted the loan amount. The amount approved was for $108k opposed to $180. My apologies. That was the purchasing cost of the condo.
You have to give more details. SO what was the calateral? Was was the income requirement? The credit score requirement? 180k is a enough to buy a whole rental property, so i know they didnt just sign papers and shake your hand with a wink and give you 180k.
@PolishBehemoth My apologies. I misquoted the loan amount and corrected it in my post. I was approved for $108k, not $180. As with most foreign purchases of property abroad, there is typically an investment of so much cash collateral upfront. This is collected through a series of installments due during set stages outlined in your buying agreement. For me, it was a new build where I paid 20% of the cost of the condo upfront. This was followed by an additional 2 installments of 10% of cost of condo each with the remaining amount due at completion of the build. US credit scores aren't typically shared overseas due to data protection laws and identity. Technically, it's not tied to what it is in the purchasing country if a local lender is used. Credit worthiness is demonstrated then through a list of financial documents you must present to the lender for proof. In my case, I didn't have to show any credit score information, but I did present W2's, proof of employment, banking statements, income, and disclose any evidence of debts. When doing so, I had a friend present with me who assisted with all interpretations. If interested, I can share my lenders name with you if you so desire.

Interesting, I've actually farmed here. Grew plantain, yucca, bananas, and cubanelle peppers. Learned from experience farmers on how they grow crops. Also, we've worked with many farmers who sold products to markets and grocery stores and never heard that. But I guess just being from here trumps all that...lol! I’d love to know if insurance companies would actually decline a claim if the driver is overstaying on their visa. It’s not as if they ask for your residency when you purchase the insurance - they are happy to accept the premium payments from ‘gringos’.
I can answer the 2nd part they don't ask for residency when you purchase insurance. I'm not saying they will deny it, but it's chance you take. That's just the nature of the beast.
Thanks for the information. I plan to move there next month from Atlanta GA. Could you recommend a source(s) to find an apartment there? I have a nice budget to work with.
We didn't actually live there we were considering. We were there for month. I like the city better. Didn't like tourist feel. Santo Domingo is more authentic. I love it here.
@JayAbroad thanks...i appreciate it. I'm thinking about investing in Punta Cana. I'll be retiring soon. I'm only 48 so i don't want to get bored. Santo Domingo is only a few hours drive away. I'll make it work. Thank you sir. Happy Holidays.
We got our A/C fro Electro Lama in Sambil Mall. I can't say what the best bank is but as I mentioned in my video the 4 we use are all credible, BanReservas, Scotia Bank, BHD Leon, and Banco Santa Cruz. And another I didn't mention that popular here to is Banco Popular. Any of these work.
I have planned to work for USA REMOTELY FROM HOME FOR THE USA WHEN I MOVED THERE AND MY girlfriend is Dominican and I planned to marry her there or in USA I don't know yet don't know
Jay serious question here. how do I visit the DR by myself? what will i need to have a safe fun trip? (besides a plain ticket) I seriously am considering going but I just dont know the land to well plus I dont travel outside the states much to be honest.
Not really sure how to answer this because you're asking what do you need. Because all you really need is a plane ticket, a place to stay, and money. Outside of that what do you mean what do you need. Also l, you have to honest what you are coming here for, for real. That way I can answer honestly.
@adifferentperspective8448 affordable is very subjective, however if you are wanting beaches and real tourists areas go to Punta Cana. If you want the city vibe and authentic Dominican Republic come to Santo Domingo. If you wand a mix of tourists and local vibe go to Puerto Plata. You want to chase women all day go to Sosua. If you want small town but vibrant vibe go to Las Terrenas. If you want a natural eco-vibe go to Jarabocoa
Said I was coming... Just arrived in Puerto Plata on my EXPAT journey looking to meet up with you soon but...what you got for me in Puerta plata...(Hint hint...I will become the PP Connection...lol)
This my question Jay! I like to look at beautiful women but I am a family man, how do you not get carried away? I know you said you spend a lot of time with your wife and daughter does that help a lot?
Great question. Discipline. And just not putting myself in certain situations. And yes that does help being with them. Honestly, I've been there done that in my life. It's just not a top priority anymore. Making sure my family is good brings me the most joy than banging random women for no reason.
J, DR has no healthcare Guidelines, there is no HEDIS review or CMS, and the Dominican DOH may or may not be lead by a doctor. So, when it comes to healthcare you’re pretty much at the mercy of what you know and where you go. You can’t suit a doctor for malpractice, and Meds are not covered. So for preventive care, sure they sort of work, but for preexisting conditions or to managed comorbidities, it’s tricky. Now, if you are a MEDICARE RECIPIENT and you have an advantage plan in the states; DO NOT GET RID OF IT. cause if you have to go and be treated you gonna be penalized for opening a plan. Be sure to keep paying those premiums so when time comes for you to get something done here, you don’t pay through your nose. If you’re on Medicare, go and verify what I’m saying before you stop re-certifying. Great as usual J. 👍
@@rosemaryvpI visited my ex wife’s cousin when he was hospitalized at a public hospital in Cotuí. He suffered a brain aneurysm then developed pneumonia. He died. Never seen dismal hospital conditions like that. No sterile conditions for some procedures, dirty rooms, dried blood on the mattress and walls, flies, a horror show. Zero standards. Very eye opening; medieval comes to mind. His room was shared by two other patients with infections from diabetes. Family sleeping on the floor on cardboard. Had to bring his sheets and feed him through his stomach tube. Paid a nurse for extra checks on him - which amounted to drive bys by her to say “probecito.” Not even going to describe what we had to do with his body when he passed. I always have an evac plan back to the U.S. when I visit. Just my experience.
@@kah4325 sadly, that’s the state of affairs for the uninsured. Public hospitals have not ever been “kosher” primarily I feel people don’t care because they are supposed to be “free” … of course you have to bring even the alcohol to clean the wounds of one’s relative so yes. It’s rough. The private clinics, which accept private insurance have slightly better conditions, at least esthetically speaking. I know of a high class clinic that everyone I know that goes there leaves dead. So, yeah, it’s rough. That’s why my mom has to come once a year to re-certify her insurance here even though we also have insurance there for her day to day. You can’t play with our fraile elderly.
What if I want to rent an apartment in DR do they check my credit. ? I have good credit here in the states but obviously not in DR because I don’t live there.
@JayAbroad who do maintenance for you all place or for apartments down. How can I talk to one on one if possible. My name Carlos I live here Charlotte NC.
The white brother comment was great! Let him know that I will get him a ticket to Europe, and he can get me a ticket to the DR and I'm sure everything will be Copacetic! If you gotta ask, then you shouldn't go!
Very very good content in a short time span. For the white people 😅, there are a few gorgeous gated communities in the north developed by Canadians like Casa Linda (Cute House) in Cabarete, Samana and Las Terrenas 😂
Jay, you must of made this video on the fly. The info you've provided is nowhere near the caliber of your previous videos, especially those with wifee. Just to identify a few things, you contradicted yourself about the visa requirements. First you say no, a visa is not needed...then you say a tourist visa is issued upon arrival at the airport. That sounds like a yes to me, caveat with, you do not need to obtain a visa in advance. How else can you overstay your visa if you've never received one? Besides, where is the visa penalty graph you mentioned? Dude, you chopped the hell out of the foreign earned income exclusion (FEIE) piece. It's not a 350 day limit, it's 330 days out of the U.S accumulatively in a 1-year period. And you are still taxed, with FICA withholdings and social security. You are only exempt from federal tax, and even with that there are additional rules. Just as you mentioned, a simple google search could answer that question. Most of the questions covered were addressed in full detail in some of your previous videos. Just refer them to the video instead of just winging it. Like the question to move to Dom Rep....you and wifee dropped a full segment on that in crazy detail. You've answered that. I'm not trying to cherry pick your video or knock your hustle. I've learned a lot from your previous videos that will help me during my transition. Including this one, especially the part about earning a living there. Great piece, and I appreciate you for that. But certain parts of this video, Bruh...............

Thanks for the information. I plan to move there next month from Atlanta GA. Could you recommend a source(s) to find an apartment there? I have a nice budget to work with.
Depending on what city you are looking to move to.

And by the way, your place looks amazing!

So if your mini split air condition would break down who would you called to repair it, because that s what do!!! fix it or replace it!!!
A repair man.
Quick question, i remember you mentioning that you lived in Punta Cana. Why did you move to the Capitol?
We didn't actually live there we were considering. We were there for month. I like the city better. Didn't like tourist feel. Santo Domingo is more authentic. I love it here.
@JayAbroad thanks...i appreciate it. I'm thinking about investing in Punta Cana. I'll be retiring soon. I'm only 48 so i don't want to get bored. Santo Domingo is only a few hours drive away. I'll make it work. Thank you sir. Happy Holidays.
Do you speak Spanish?..I live here now too .
No I don't.
What’s the name of the place you got your AC from and the best bank to have an account with
We got our A/C fro Electro Lama in Sambil Mall. I can't say what the best bank is but as I mentioned in my video the 4 we use are all credible, BanReservas, Scotia Bank, BHD Leon, and Banco Santa Cruz. And another I didn't mention that popular here to is Banco Popular. Any of these work.
@@JayAbroad ok thanks
Brugal or Bermudez, which rum is better?
Barcelo:)
Brugal for me
I have planned to work for USA REMOTELY FROM HOME FOR THE USA WHEN I MOVED THERE AND MY girlfriend is Dominican and I planned to marry her there or in USA I don't know yet don't know
Jay serious question here. how do I visit the DR by myself? what will i need to have a safe fun trip? (besides a plain ticket) I seriously am considering going but I just dont know the land to well plus I dont travel outside the states much to be honest.
Not really sure how to answer this because you're asking what do you need. Because all you really need is a plane ticket, a place to stay, and money. Outside of that what do you mean what do you need. Also l, you have to honest what you are coming here for, for real. That way I can answer honestly.
@@JayAbroad I honestly am asking about good affordable vacation spots. just relaxing and enjoying the DR scenery.
@@JayAbroad thanks I appreciate it. DR sounds like a good place to be!

@@JayAbroad 💯 true, thanks for your honesty, I see the smile on your wife and daughter face, priceless.
@@JayAbroad I love and respect my wife and try to spend most time around her doing stuff or enjoy her company
Thanks for sharing this. Of course I'm not well versed on the Healthcare here. Thanks again.
@@JayAbroad I’m just looking out for the seniors that may want to venture into el patio. 🤗
Do you have to go back to the states to start the residency process or can you do it all from DR?
I started my process from DR. Some lawyers will tell you you have to do it from the States and some will say you can start it from here.
We moved to Santiago 2 months ago and at first we weren't thinking of residency, but we want a car now so we need to get it now.
What if I want to rent an apartment in DR do they check my credit. ? I have good credit here in the states but obviously not in DR because I don’t live there.
They don't check credit here to rent an apartment. You just need a Dominican co-signer or they will ask you to pay some months in advance.
@@JayAbroad ok thanks you
Hey I do HVAC heating and Air Conditioning can you help me get a job in that area down there. Help me out I would like to move there with a job.
I'm not sure there is a huge HVAC market here. You would need to do some research on it.
@JayAbroad who do maintenance for you all place or for apartments down. How can I talk to one on one if possible. My name Carlos I live here Charlotte NC.
Hi Jay, if you get the DR residency you dont have to pay exit tax but do you have to pay US taxes even if you decide to live in DR ?
Yes, I understand this. Thanks.
Do they have wigs stores there?
Not that i know of. You don't see many Dominican women wearing wigs here. I've never seen a wig store personally
@ ok Thank you
The white brother comment was great! Let him know that I will get him a ticket to Europe, and he can get me a ticket to the DR and I'm sure everything will be Copacetic! If you gotta ask, then you shouldn't go!
Lol😅. I know that's right sister. You should come over to visit.

Very very good content in a short time span. For the white people 😅, there are a few gorgeous gated communities in the north developed by Canadians like Casa Linda (Cute House) in Cabarete, Samana and Las Terrenas 😂
Do you think someone can survive there on SSI/DISABILITY @ $1800 Month
Yes, of course. Much better than you'll live in the US with that amount. That won't cover rent in the US. Here that covers a lifestyle.
What your email

Don’t worried about it you won’t get deported like USA 😂good job 👌👍
I agree, I just didn't want to be the one to say it😅😅
Are there grocery stores in the Dominican Republic. 😂😂😂😂😂I don’t think that person is ready for the DR. They will not survive there very long. 😆😆😆😆😆

@@Dee-pj7hh I love the grocery stores in DR, they’re clean!
Ok, if you say so😅
Cool! If you can afford to live the dream do it! If you are a liability to your family???? Stay in America and get a proper job
