It's no secret that Japan is facing challenges, and among these, one stands out prominently: the country's severe demographic crisis. Japan seems doomed to gradually fade away. Projections suggest that over the next 40 years, Japan will lose almost 40 million inhabitants. This is precisely why there will be fewer and fewer young people available and willing to join the Japanese armed forces. However, Tokyo has come up with an idea: to create a new techno-army. In this video, we share all the details about how Japan plans to revolutionize its self-defense forces.

WW2 was a traumatic and deep lesson for Japan, and now that it is in a population decline, every soldier's life is precious, and they have to force multiply each soldier to make the most of them, and can't afford to lose men. Japan may seem like a Jpop star on the outside, but it is a sleeping samurai if push comes to shove. If war wakes up the sleeping samurai, it will either find a way to fight back or die trying.

Even I, a Japanese citizen, was surprised to see that Japanese people participated in the war in Ukraine as volunteer soldiers (some of them died in the war). (Of course, modernization of the Japanese military may be essential, but the most important thing is the "will to fight" and the cooperation of the allies. Japan's willingness to fight means that it is willing to play "Kamikaze"...

    • @Dang3rMouSe
      @Dang3rMouSe 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

As a soldier one must be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice so others may live. While sad & often tragic it is an honorable death. But with the technological steps being taken by your country I hope the "kamikazi" methods will never be required unless absolutely necessary. I could be misunderstanding your use of the term though.
Could you clarify what you mean by "willing to play 'Kamikazi?"
As an American the term "kamikazi" is associated with the idea of suicide attacks. This is due to our experiences in the later part of WW2 with "kamikazi pilots" ramming their planes filled with fuel into our ships & other attempts of suicide attacks made against our military. This history could very easily lead to a misinterpretation of the term.

    • @neetchang
      @neetchang 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

@2121 PhilE First of all, I would like to make the premise that modern Japan has completely broken away from the imperialism and militarism of the past, and basically desires cooperation and peace with other countries in the world, even from the level of ordinary citizens. Even with this in mind, I think it is natural that "a country needs an army," and I think everyone knows that even Switzerland, a country of permanent neutrality, has an army.
Now, as for your question about "kamikaze," the kamikaze I am advocating is not an "action" but a "spirit.
You stated that "planes loaded with fuel carried out suicide attacks on warships", but suicide planes are not loaded with fuel. Just to be clear, a suicide plane can only carry enough fuel for a one-way trip. The reason for this is that in the latter half of the war, Japan was suffering from an extreme shortage of resources and was not able to fly planes satisfactorily, and technologically, it was difficult to reliably sink warships. This is when the "Kamikaze Suicide Attack" was invented, an attack method in which bombs were loaded with enough fuel for a one-way trip, and the bombs would strike the enemy ship. This operation was really a foolish and foolish plan, and could not even be called a strategy. But what do you think was the thing that supported this operation?
      It is "ultimate dedication.
I don't know if "ultimate devotion" is the correct English translation, since I am Japanese, but I interpret it as "kamikaze," which is what military personnel do. Of course, this assertion may be interpreted differently by different Japanese. However, I believe that the basic premise of military personnel around the world is to serve their country, and that the fundamental purpose of military personnel is to protect their own citizens and their own people. I believe that the ultimate act of doing so is "kamikaze.I know that people in the West consider kamikaze a barbaric practice. Make no mistake, we do not want them to be confused with the bombings that terrorists carry out that involve civilians.
I am in my 40's and have an American friend who served in the Vietnam War. I know that the Vietnam War has a mixed reputation in the U.S., but I respect my friend and will continue to be a good friend.Humanity is stupid and there are still conflicts and terrorist attacks all over the world. Nevertheless, I believe that humanity must not stop learning and understanding. Finally, the Japanese do not intend to act aggressively toward other countries, but we will make the necessary claims and take the necessary actions. However, Japanese people fundamentally do not like conflict and are curious, so they are willing to converse and be friends if the other party is friendly.

Ultimately speaking, in ancient times, there was no border between the two countries. And the Miao people in China actually claim to be descendants of Korea's Goguryeo, while Inner Mongolia, Uighurs, and Tibetans in China are different ethnic groups. Just because the Chinese Communist Party currently occupies the Central Plains does not mean that their identity is Han Chinese. They are oppressed because they are not Han Chinese.
Unlike the Chinese, today's so-called "Han people," the Dongyi people were divided into a different ethnic group, and this is recognized in Northeast Asian and Central Asian history books, as well as Turkish and Western records. The genetic roots of today's Chinese people are close to Southeast Asia. On the other hand, the Dongyi are a northern equestrian people. The Mongols, Huns, Tatars, Jurchen, Uyghurs, Malgal (Magyar), Buyeo (Buryat), and ancient Korean dynasties (Gojoseon, Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, Balhae, Gaya, Khitan, Goryeo, etc.) are Dongyi groups.

This will be a very difficult undertaking. Japan has a large industrial base, but it is mainly skillful in manufacturing. Software, AI and aerospace are not developed enough to sustain large scale autonomous weapon systems. Weapons exports are basically banned (though that is slowly changing), so developing hugely expensive defense technology without being able to recoup the cost through exports will be tough (or rather, impossible).
The large defense contractors also do not seem to be hugely innovative and there is not really a defense startup ecosystem or DARPA equivalent.
Which means Japan would have to rely on US technology a lot, but with a weak yen that will be quite the hit on government budgets.

For Japan to be a "normal country", has to have ability to defend herself. Today, every new Japanese elected President has to make first stop to Washington. So some Japanese leadership has always wanted Japan to build up own defense, and approach to build within NATO standards does makes sense. With Japanese industrial might, would sure soon dominate NATO's production, just as in Japanese commercial cars & electronics in Western world. The Japanese revolutionalize the civilian and government industrial complex for over a century, that the Chinese, Koreans and other Asian nation followed, that created some of largest and most powerful Japanese companies.
As Japan rises up militarily, she will likely take her own stances, Japanese own interests rather than of US interests. Today's abnormal security setup was due to outcomes of WWII, which should change using China security threat as one key reason is clever approach.

Although this may differ from the general Japanese opinion, the government's plan in the Defense White Paper states that it is impossible to deter war and that it is necessary to immediately implement nuclear sharing and shift to a strategy of mass destruction and retaliation. Masu. A good example is West Germany, which should use tactical nuclear weapons against China's conventional forces and respond to ballistic missile attacks with strategic missile nuclear submarines. To deter war, the most realistic option would be to equip the F35A with the B61-12, share nuclear power, and lease strategic missile nuclear submarines, which would save costs and guarantee results. In other words, if a mutually assured destruction strategy could be applied between Japan and China, the Prisoner's Dilemma would be established in game theory, and the risk of war could be greatly reduced.

    I am Japanese.
Japan does not share borders with China and Russia.
The Air Force and Navy will take the lead.
The mission of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force is anti-ship and anti-aircraft missions and interdiction of enemy landing forces.
However, even though China has developed landing operations capabilities with several times the budget of Japan, landing on Japan is not an easy operation.
Japan is increasing the budget for the government's Self-Defense Forces, but it is not enough.
We need to reduce the number of Ground Self-Defense Force personnel and increase the number of sea and air forces.
The weakness of democracies is public opinion.
The declining birthrate is also a problem.
If there are casualties among military personnel, the public's opposition to the government will be severe.
If politicians give up on national defense, they will lose.
    It must be stopped.
I believe that the Ground Self-Defense Force should keep humans away from high-risk missions, including infantry, and use unmanned equipment, powered suits, and electric buggies to reduce casualties.
Future infantry should be commanders of drone units.
Immediately move to the enemy's landing or invasion point, destroy it, and retreat.
My opinion is that we should become the air army with the largest number of aircraft in the Western world.
I am interested in the Joint Multi-Role / Future Vertical Lift plan.
    V280 → JGSDF & JASDF.
    SB-1 Defiant → Maritime Self-Defense Force manned anti-submarine helicopter.
S-97 Raider→ Maritime Self-Defense Force unmanned anti-submarine helicopter (sonar search mission only).
CH-53K → Ground Self-Defense Force amphibious group transport & Maritime Self-Defense Force minesweeper helicopters and transport helicopters.
    Other equipment I'm interested in.
Next-generation amphibious assault ship (replaced with Osumi class) → Something similar to the US military's LHD (I want to install General Atomics' EMALS).
    Bayraktar TB3 → LHD carrier-based aircraft.
Boeing's Echo Voyager → Undersea regular patrol and emergency front line Patrol.
DDG(X) → Since the US Navy started using Aegis ships after the US Navy, the Kongo-class ships are seriously obsolete and new Aegis ships are needed immediately. However, SPY-1D(V) has been discontinued and additional orders cannot be placed.

If the money can’t be applied in a military setting then there is no point ie you can’t just spend money on technology and expect to win it’s about the science and “APPLICATION” where they can fix them on the spot which so,etching Japan very much lacks in, but let them take that back to base to fix and it’s a different story but often in war you don’t get that

will they succeed? They will accomplish far more than all the sceptics can even imagine. had friends who went there and said they were years ahead with technology, even at street level items. They are highly disciplined , organized, innovative and make superior products at pretty much anything they produce. They will outperform, way beyond the analysis of all these skeptics. They will be a formidable foe, once they commit to it. Their models of quality assurance and production, are used by companies all over the world. Even underground mining, the only vehicle that could withstand it was one developed by Japan. My daughter was teaching there for years, and from what she told me about the Japanese people and the level of technology there, they will be building their own, and she said to never underestimate their capabilities. Their commitment and work ethic was unrivaled by any other country she had taught in by a inconceivable amount.
