Thank you so much for this video, as I am planning to go there this Friday for the first time. I am so excited, it's great to see a more recent video showing the all latest places to go - and good to know I can stop for a coffee if needed as well :)) Right, going to keep watching your sewing plans, absolutely loved the intro 💕⭐🙌
@@gemimalondon I just had to pop on here and let you know I finally went there today (couldn't last Friday). Well, I was beyond impressed. Amazing quality and terrific prices! It's my go-to place now for fabrics. Zippers and bits are super affordable!!! I shopped for similar items in Australia (I am from there originally and have family there) and it is very very pricey to buy simple things there. Sewing is an absolute joy when materials are plenty and affordable.
Really enjoyed seeing your haul and the incredible bargains. You so clearly have such a great understanding of fabric which is helpful. Sadly it would cost me a fortune to get there so not so cheap for me. Can’t wait to see your makes. Thank you too for the fabulous holiday footage. 😊 Lynne
I'm blown away at the amount of fabric you bought and what you paid for it. I look forward to seeing all your new garments. I'm really intrigued with the Style Arc trousers. And thanks for sharing some lovely pictures of your holiday.
Hi Rachael, I so enjoyed this video as I now live in Queensland Australia (35yrs) but I’m from Leytonstone originally and actually got married in Walthamstow so I know it quite well. I soooo miss the fabric shopping in London as we are VERY limited here for fabric. The last plisse georgette is beautiful, (reminds me of Issy Miyake) can’t wait to see the finished garment.
Love that jacket.....I shall be on the look out for a similar pattern to make one . I live in Norwich but two of my non sewing kids live in London, I had intended to go to the Knitting and stitching show at Ally Pally but Walthamstow market seems to be the better alternative . AS for Cornwall, I just love it. We were recently in St Ives and should you ever be there, I came across a little gem of a fabric shop which is not to be missed. Good luck with your sewing plans.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for your comments, I'm going to the show at Ally Pally but Walthamstow is great for fabrics! Yes Cornwall is one of our fav places, so beautiful, we try and get down there once a year.
I found your selection quite educational. I never have a plan and come home with colorful large scale prints that never yield a cohesive wardrobe. I never have anything to wear and end up going to the shops and with a substantial fabric stash.
Hi Theresa, thanks! I also have a stash of fabrics that I'm not too sure what I will do with, I try and stay focussed but do get tempted and go "off-piste" sometimes!
great finds and from a Canadian perspective the prices are amazing. Love the jacket you made and wondering if you have the pattern to share? So pleased I have found your site, love the classic style you seem to lean towards. You have briefly mentioned your background in fashion do you care to expand? Thank you for taking the time and sharing
Hi, thanks for your comments, I can't share that pattern at the moment but it might be something for the future as well as a vlog about my time in fashion perhaps!
I've been going to Walthamstow market on fabric trawls for probably 10 years BUT over that period, I have been gradually disappointed with what is on offer. I miss the Textile Centre shop that was on the high street, and there used to be a stall selling wonderful fabrics more or less outside Sainsbury's. I think the pandemic saw them off and they never really made a concerted effort to return. I guess we are in different markets because your fabric choices and style of clothing are not mine - never wear trousers or waistcoats since I don't have the figure for them. However, I was impressed by the Italian wool, especially at that price, and loved the pleated fabric that is too tricky for my cack-handed sewing. Waltamstow is a long way up from my south east London location and I can't make a quick dash there and back. It's at least half a day's outing and not worth it if I come back empty-handed.
@@sandrarobinson4775: thank you. As with Gemima, I am usually a weekday visitor too. Can't say that I will making a trip to Walthamstow anytime soon, but good to know.
Hi Hakeem, I would go to Fabric Central, they have a good choice of fabrics. All the shops have an every changing stock so if I’m looking for really specific fabrics I usually give myself a few hours to go in most of the shops, I usually find what I’m looking for, best wishes Rachel
@gemimalondon . I buy my fabrics from new York and LA garment districts every year. That's one of my summer trips to the east coast every year. So 40 years ago. I use to buy fabrics from Joel and sons in kilburn west london.
Loved the video, amazing material, amazing prices. Cornwall is beautiful, I’ve been quite a few times. Thank you 💞💞💞
Thanks for the video ❤
love Walthamstow and always get plenty of high quality fabrics from Fabric Store 2 also!
Love Walthamstow market, there are always some great finds. Haven’t been for a while, I need to plan a shopping spree. Great vlog
Hi Diane, it's always worth a visit, I always come away with something!
Gorgeous fabrics and lovely plans as always. Love that assembly line shirt ❤
thanks Sarah!

Hi Jennett, yes it’s brilliant value, a lot of the fabrics are end of lines, such bargains, will be making over the next few weeks so will show soon!
Great stuff Rachael. Thanks. x
thanks Debbie!

What a bargain your winter wardrobe will be! But you haven't priced your expertise! Thanks for sharing x

Amazing value. Must try to get there sometime.
Yes it's worth a visit!
I e been interested in that over shirt from TAL. I worry it will make me look huge
Hi Diane, yes I'm not too tall and I think I would probably make that overshirt in a drapey fabric so as to not look too bulky!

My fave tank pattern is free from Itch to Stitch ..
Hi Alison, that's a really useful pattern thank you,, even better that it's free!

The stall outside Sainsbury's is still there on Saturdays
Hi Sandra, yes I think it is, thank you so much for sharing that! I usually go on a weekday but i do remember it now.

Please can you recommend 3 fabric stores for men fabrics like linen, denim and tropical wool in walthamstow market?

Next time I come to England. I will.
You need to check out the Los angeles garment district here. You will be impressed.
@@hakeemlawal3727 I love LA but don’t get there very often, hopefully I will get there soon!
