Loved all that. Picked up some great ideas to make. I would absolutely love a tutorial on making a lace pencil skirt. I managed to get my hands on some Gucci lace deadstock and have wanted to do a pencil skirt, but I'm terrified of messing it up! Thank you.
That must have taken you a long time to put this together. I love the look of the ballroom skirt and white shirt. Too bad fancy events aren't in my future. I am going out at the end of January to a supper and comedy show. I think that is an opportunity to dress up a bit. I was thinking wide leg jeans and a cream silk blouse. A couple of years ago, I bought a silk wedding gown at a thrift store and took it apart. I was going to try dying it, but now I think I will use it as is. I also found a camel hair coat at a thrift store I could wear over top. Your one piece jumpsuit is stunning!
Fantastic vlog as usual, you put a lot of work into them and it is much appreciated. Your makes are inspiring and I would love to hear more about how you backed the fabric onto jersey and then lined with jersey and the rationale for doing that, obviously your design background gives you the edge for these evening looks.
Hi Liz, thank you, to use the jersey as an interlining, you just treat the 2 layers as one and it's usually easiest to baste together both layers, in the case of the jumpsuit the lining was exactly the same as the outer and I just bagged out around the neck and armhole, hope that makes sense!
Please make a tutorial on sewing a lace skirt. I have a wedding to attend in August and this might be what I need to sew. Thanks for all the great ideas .
Lovely inspiration of holiday occasion wear! Thank you so much for putting this all together. And your makes are just gorgeous! Of course we would love to see a tutorial to make that lace skirt, that would be amazing!
Love these videos. Yes I made a navy sequence pencil skirt and navy stretch velvet top for Christmas. I used New Look K6687. Turned out great. I would love a tutorial on the lace skirt. Thank you 💕
You look great in all your makes! I don’t wear pencil skirts anymore because I can’t wear high heels now i’m older, but I would have loved the lace one 20 years ago! Very clever. I also love the coat, really good. You look wonderful in the sequin jumpsuit, too. I just need to start sewing… I don’t know what’s holding me back. It’s like a blank page when I’m painting, way too scary!😂
Hi, thank you so much. I think just start with a simple project and go from there, there are many free pdf patterns available (see my free patterns video) and if you have some fabric at home its easy to do!
Lovely selection of styles and patterns. I particularly like that you select patterns that are both on trend and classics. You are looking beyond the latest pattern issues and finding some real treasures. I have found some dove blue velour and may well made the SA pants.
Great video - some really lovely ideas. I’m going to Welsh frocktails next year, and that Caroline herrerra skirt is calling to me. I don’t have a glamorous life style, but have made the fibre mood flavia jacket in mohair coating recently, and wear it with jeans. I also made a dress using the paper theory LB pullover pattern, from sequin destash fabric which I wore to an abba tribute band and felt fantastic!
Hi Ruth, no I dont have a very glamorous lifestyle either! I seem to spend most of my time in my walking boots! The Caroline Herrera outfit is a real show stopper, I would definitley make it if I had the occassion for it! Enjoy the Welsh Frocktails!
Lovely choices. The lace skirt at the end gave me inspiration for a piece of lace purchased in Spain that I’ve had a difficult time deciding how to use. That lace skirt is perfect for it and it’s a skirt I will get good use of. Thanks!
I really enjoyed this. Normally I make a lot of basics - tops, trousers etc. However, I have just been invited to a big Indian wedding that I know will be dripping in bling, so I am going to have to make something nice to wear (and am panicking as it is outside my comfort zone), but you have definitely given me some ideas. Your coat is stunning too. I love the large lapels.
Hi Kate, thank you. What a great opportunity to dress up! I rarely go to black tie events these days so if I get the opportunity I grab it! Happy sewing!
Such an inspiring video, lots of great ideas many of which are quite simple styles made special by the use of stunning fabrics. So , thank you for putting it all together. You have reminded me that I actually have a black velvet cowl neck top somewhere ( must search it out ) all I need to make is a black pencil skirt in something luxurious and I'm done !!!
Thank you. Your trend edits are my favorite and your pattern suggestions are excellent. Request - No pressure but if you do make the Arc Albie trouser in the silk velour I would love a video of the make. I've never purchased or worked with a velvet or velour, daunting for a beginner, but it sounds like a great piece to modernize occasionwear separates.
Great inspiration Rachael! Love this video! Bennett’s silks used to have everything! I don’t know if they are still trade, but you could give them a go. It’s about 10 years since I used them. Good luck. 😃😘Also, I would love to see a tutorial of you making your lace skirt, it’s stunning! I’ve never heard of Sister Mag patterns, I’m going to give the blouse pattern a go, it looks beautiful. Thankyou so much Rachael. 🥰
You'd video was packed full of stuff...love it. Especially like the High Street trends review and the catwalk at the end. I'm going to try one shoulder Simplicity dress pattern.
Great video, thanks. I agree that simple patterns in luxe fabrics are the way to go. Your pencil skirt is beautiful. A tutorial would be great, thank you.
beautiful lace skirt. I have just sewn a shortened cardigan pattern white vest with designs on the back fabric piece which is a cotton/poly. I also made a pure white stretch poly blend cardigan with an elastic on the back waist to give it shape. Next I am making a dusty pink twisted wrap top. Love your videos
So fun to watch your videos even though I'm not sewing much at the moment. Brought back memories of making outfits for New Year's eve parties. You're inspiring me to find an event to get dressed up for. You look amazing in the beautiful outfits you've made. I'd be interested in a sew along lace skirt tutorial.
Enjoyed all of it, especially the latter part where you shared your makes. Would love to see an episode where you could also review some Vogue Couturier patterns (or vogue paris original) where vogue partnered with luxury brands (Lanvin, Dior, Valentino) in earlier decades for licensed patterns and how they could be modernized for today. 😊
I think, you can reach easily the first 50k followers. I like to follow Vivmom sews and Jen sews but you add lots of insight into trends and styles. Zara has interesting designs but at my 60s I am more interested in quality and good fitting. Your videos are very interesting and I very appreciate your suggestions of patterns and fabric choice you gave.
Hello, how are you? I am a regular viewer of your TH-cam channel. I came here to say that- Your content is always engaging and incredibly well-presented!" Good luck to you.
Love this video and your makes. I used a similar outfit to the Carolina Herrera skirt and top as my inspiration for my mother of the groom dress. I ended up just making a lace stretch top to go with the skirt but my skirt was the same silhouette.
Great inspiration Rachael! Love this video! Bennett’s silks used to have everything! I don’t know if they are still trade, but you could give them a go. It’s about 10 years since I used them. Good luck. 😃😘
Love listening to you and you look lovely in the garments you made ❤also wanting to see video on making lace skirt I have one to make I have got the lace fabric just need to get on and do it Thanks so much from Phyllis NZ
Really love the trends vlogs, very helpful for me because I end up with so much going round in my head with what to make or buy. That it can paralyse me a bit. Watching your suggestions helps focus my decisions. Really loved your jumpsuit and yes, would love a tutorial on the lace pencil skirt. ❤❤
I made a very nice brown lace pantsuit for my daughter’s wedding in the beginning of October. A really like it and am wearing it again this Christmas. I wonder if the jacket will be nice with a pair of jeans this spring/summer
Beautiful makes! Please would you consider showing us a tutorial make with sequins? I’ve done a simple top and trousers in a stretch sequin fabric (the glued on kind), and it wasn’t exactly how I pictured; the fabric kept growing, and I had to wipe the glue off my needle constantly. Clearly didn’t know what I was doing and possibly poor quality fabric!
I love your artistic sense. In 2025 might you periodically focus on less than the perfect model shape. You have a lovely shape, but many who love your technical expertise do not.
Yes to seeing you make the lace skirt with interlining and lining. Beautiful
Thank you
Really enjoying you matching patterns with trends. Haven’t seen this take before. Great job.
Yes I would love to watch you making something! Yes please.
Yes would love to see a see-along of the pencil skirt with lining. 😎
Hi, I have done another video which goes into more detail - which you may like.

Great stuff, thanks. Limited opportunities to get really dressed up these days but love seeing the trends. 😊
Hi Debbie, yes I don't get really dressed up very often these days, but always have a few pieces that i can call on.
Really interesting and inspiring- thank you
Great Inspiration! Thank you so much
Thanks for watching!

dove blue velour sounds so elegant.

Hi, thank you. I will probably make them but I'm not sure I will be able to video them, if not I will talk about them in my end of year makes video.
Fabulous Sunday morning watch. I have some stretch mesh which is calling out for a simple turtle or cowl-ish neck. I might just make it today!!

Hi Hui, thank you! I actually have some of those patterns, I will plan that for the New Year!
Another great video thanks for the inspiration

Hi Lynne, thank you. Bennetts are still going, thanks for reminding me, I will have a look at their range!
Love listening to you and you look lovely in the garments you made ❤also wanting to see video on making lace skirt I have one to make I have got the lace fabric just need to get on and do it
Thanks so much from Phyllis NZ
Thank you Phyllis, I plan tutorials for the new year!
Yes, please show us how you made the lace skirt!
Hi, I have made a vlog about my lace skirt, hope you enjoy it!

Glad you like them!
Thanks again. I love when you show your makes on your body. Any tips on sewing with sequins.....how do you handle the seams?
I made a very nice brown lace pantsuit for my daughter’s wedding in the beginning of October. A really like it and am wearing it again this Christmas. I wonder if the jacket will be nice with a pair of jeans this spring/summer

Hi, thank you, yes I am planning a series of make tutorials in the New Year, sequins are tricky! it depends alot also on the fabric they are on!
I loved the format of your video and the pattern pairings. I'm wondering which mood pattern was used for the tank top you wore with the lace skirt?
Hi Dawn, I used the Sylvan Tank top/dress pattern but I filled in the shoulder to make it les "cut away".
Love the jumpsuit! What fabric did you use please? I didn’t quite catch what you said. Diana
Hi, I made the jumpsuit from sequins on a jersey mesh, so I mounted them onto a light weight jersey and then lined in the same jersey.
I love your artistic sense. In 2025 might you periodically focus on less than the perfect model shape. You have a lovely shape, but many who love your technical expertise do not.
Sew along Please
Great video full of inspiration. You've made some lovely pieces. I especially like the jumpsuit.
