nice and to the point. as a fellow 1290 owner, i would strongly suggest you go and buy a set of Torx bits and a small wrench for them, and never bother with any other tool. you literally need 5 or 6 Torx bits to tear the whole bike apart, with the exception of some hex bolts here and there. Torx has much better contact with the bolt, and its almost impossible to strip a bolt with them. one more suggestion. be really careful with the torque value on these screen filters, ESPECIALLY on the rear one, which is really close to the header. some mechanic tightened mine as if his life was depending on it, ended up stuck, and i had to use a hammer and a scalpel to manage to get it off, destroying it in the process.
Yes, and great point and definitely should’ve mentioned. Had to torque most the spokes and found a lot of loose bolts and had to tighten the chain. Definitely follow the manual on exactly what they say for the 620 mile break in. Nothing major but everything they suggested needed a little love.
Bout the best advice would be to go ride it. Congrats on the purchase. Besides that I’d get a skid plate on it and go find some fun, off the beaten path roads. Enjoy!

That’s actually a good question. In the US we’re protected by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. While the act covers many things one of the things it allows us to do is maintain our own motorcycles/automobiles without the warranty being voided.

Have the same bike, almost got a GSA 1250 but... It was kinda heavy when going slow.. SOOO, i got a 1290 SAR 2020... Love the bike

By doing it yourself not void your warranty?
According to my dealer it will not void the warranty. Just need to keep track of the maintenance.
