Hi, I have a mercedes in my shop now, with a fault in the throttle body and the engine is misfiring. After I reset the throttle position with the OBD tool, it's fine for a few miles then comes back with the same fault. Does this fit with what is happening with your customers cars?
BEWARE: butterfly has A HUGE SPRING TO SHUT IT. Nothing wrong with this motor... control is done with PULSES ( PWM ) NOT 12V-DC. These units just need a flap cleaning and gear lube... good for 500kMiles !
I rebuilt hundreds of these and other throttles. My return rate is less than 1%. I have over 1000 videos showing throttles bench tests and other Mercedes repairs I do for my customers. So I can tell how motors should feel along with other internal issues these units might have. It is PWM but motor should not be so hard to spin. This is not the only motor I repaired that was seized. Plate spring comes in play when throttle is energized. In this video it is clear that throttle is not energized so spring is not engaged. Gear is free to turn. After 500k miles potentiometer graphite surface and brushes will be so worn that unit will not work anyway. They last to about 350k or so. Plate can be cleaned but it will not change anything if internals are worn out. So 500k miles claim does not hold ground even if motor and wires and clutch coil still work.

What were the vehicles symptoms while the gears were hard to spin. Also, what is the solution, how do you fix this issue.
just search for "throttle.body cleaning"... butterfly gets too dirty... easy to clean like new
