    About utility skills: in my opinion, one of the best skills is „Free Meal“.
    Try getting it to max wich consults in 75% chance of not consuming most consumables.
    You can just stop using potions and megapotions and only use Maxpotions (also take the ingrediants to craft more with you)
    For example when i fight fatalis i can just heal with maxpotions the whole hunt… also saves you alot of materials with megademondrug etc.

    Something I've seen people not be aware of since the original release is that you can get monsters to break their own parts during a mount. You have to hang out on one part until they go over to a wall to bash you off then switch once the animation starts (they also flinch themselves). Do that 3 times and the part will usually break & since they flinched themselves each time you can end with a mount finisher. I would note that the parts I primarily see breaking from this are backs (like on Rathian, Rathalos, Pukei & Zinogre) and wings (Teostra, Lunastra, Kushala & Velkana) but even if the part doesn't outright break it still does some part damage, and if you're playing solo & want part break rewards but use a weapon with bad hitzones on/difficulty hitting a part you can soften them up/get them for free even in base world where you don't have tenderized wallbang shenanigans to break tougher parts quickly.

    One very important thing new players ignore is....The wake-up hits. Many times people just do a normal attack on sleeping monsters instead of letting the big Great Sword dude (me) do the thing. It happens even on master rank for me...
    But yeah, sleeping monsters take double the damage when you wake it up with an attack (just one hit, the first one to land will have double damage In case of a multi-hitting attack...Which you shouldn't do here) Some weapons have a powerfull attack to use in this situation like Great Sword with the True Charge or the Charge Blade with Amped Element Discharge, if your weapon doesn't have a strong hitting attack like that, you can use mega barrel bombs instead to do a ton of damage and potentially end the hunt there.

      Hammer users please read this. Everyone else, until the tail is chopped, let the hammer attack the head when the monster is down. If they're low to the ground and you're out of ammo, you can also give wingdrakes a little tickle with the clutch claw, then use them to travel. They generally go from point A to point B and back again, so they're more like shortcuts between two areas.
    Also, you don't kill monsters, you just carve them after they've fainted. They are then carted by endemic life to a monster base camp having failed their mission to beat up a hunter. They drink some green juice and heal up for another day.

    To tack on to the tip about using traps for purposes other than capture, in Master Rank depending on how much energy the monster has it will break free a lot faster than in Low/High Ranks. Plus utilize the poop, trying to hunt/carve/capture a specific monster without being interrupted or having your trap wasted can be difficult especially with a Tigrex or Bazelgeuse around.

  • @chasegaetze4507
    @chasegaetze4507 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    On tip #13 something to thing about. While a monster is not enraged I like to fight the monster normally. No traps just fight, don't mount. Now when a monster is enraged it gains speed, longer attack chains and you can no longer wall bounce. Now is the best time to get a mount or trap a monster down. Most monsters can only stay enraged about 90 seconds and if done correctly you can really cut that time down and you have less time of taking more damage. Kushala is great for this. You can usually get at least two mounts off during a hunt. When it falls asleep that part of the fight gets super annoying so if you can mount it and reduce all the wind tunnels you'll cut time off your hunts
    #15 another tip here, pierce pods are OP. Seriously shoot them at enraged monsters, shit will stop them dead in their tracks. Especially good on flying monsters, give you a chance to get close a get a hit in and maybe a knockdown. I never realized how good the different pods were. Crystal pods are also really good

    I consider myself a great sword main, with probably around 80% of my time being on it, and the other being a mix of hammer and hunting horn. From those three, you can guess I like the slower, bigger numbered weapons that require you to dance with the monster. I never once considered using the lance, it just seemed boring to me. Then, about 20 in game hours ago, I decided to pick it up and mess around. Turns out, I enjoy the dance far more than I enjoy the big numbers. Knowing the right moment to block, parry, or power block, go for optimal damage, or keep it safe while waiting for a certain attack to come out. It's been an absolute blast, and honestly, might be a new choice for main. Seriously, try new stuff and see where you have the most fun, because at the end of the day, the best weapon is the one you have the most fun with

My normal ways of fighting did not work against him (as well as a whole bunch of other wepons I tried), and in a moment of desperation I turned to the one wepon that I could not get the hang of in the very begining. The Insect Glave. In that moment, everything just clicked, and it has been my main wepon ever since (although when it comes to Rajang, I will allways go with a S&S dodge build as that's the best way I have developed to fight it).

    Going to nitpick a bit here as the survivability bit of this video leads you into some of the worst options to use on their own. I run full def 7, elemental resist relevant to the hunt at max, and HP boost at max on every hunt. While you may not need all of this with your armor, the trick is to find the break point where you go "I have the room to add enough things to gain 1 more hit before death". One single extra hit on you may be the difference between healing and returning to the fight and a cart ride. Devine blessing is a trap, with an average damage reduction of 11% as it only happens 25% of the time and HP is huge as 1HP is all you need to stand back up and drink a potion. 99.99999% of guide makers expect you to be amazing at this game, take it from someone at MR150 who gets hit A LOT with my IG, take the defensives if it gains you more hits taken.

    About 19, I'm almost certain that you can generally get it from any Butterbur patch as a rare drop. Since I recently got it while collecting butterburs for that MR1 Quest. Obviously as a rare drop its not guaranteed (unlike the method shown shown by Cotton I'm guessing), but rare drops are much less rare in Master Rank as far as I have seen, so there's a good chance of getting that by just doing the Butterbur quest a few times.

    Two things:
    1 - when a monster is exhausted (it stands still kind of drooling), you can reset the duration of the exhaust by clutch clawing onto its face. This is SUPER helpful in multiplayer especially.
    2 - about the defense / utility skills, I highly recommend speed eating. It's a cheap skill to put in with decos, and even one point will reduce the amount of time you spend healing by a considerable amount.

    I'm not a veteran in any shape or form, but one tip I heard and don't remeber where is to equip your palico with a Sleep (or paralysis) weapon, depending on the monster you will have 1 - 4 sleep procs in a hunt, giving you an extra moment to heal, sharpen and craft while also getting a free wake up bonus damage hit (wake up hits do double damage, so try to hit for strongest move). Paralysis might be less effective at giving you that break, but I noticed it stacks up faster and can even save you from some attacks if your palico clutches up as it stops monsters in their tracks

    The number of players won't go above 160k imo... Sale is over. I think it'll be a gradual decline going forward. The hype is still there, but I think it's peaked.
    Regarding the item bar that you can toggle with the D-pad (on controller). I use a Razer Wolverine controller. It has an extra trigger button just above the traditional triggers, and I bound that to the left and right on the D-pad. It makes it really nice and easy to select items from the item bar. It's still worth customizing the radial menu, but this gives you the ability to use both, which can be nice since there are so many items.

    Someone in the comments said about stun resistence, I'd like to add this: To put both elemental and stun resistence is playing on "easy" mode, you'll only need to heal.
    Meaning you'll ignore blights, say a monster attacks with poison, if you bring lvl 3 poison resistence you'll ignore it. Adding the fact that your character won't be stunned, you'll only have to worry about doing damage, dodging, and healing, making the game way easier than you think. Just adding my experience before I optimised my build, when you reach a certain point, you just optimise for your play style. Hope this helps 😊

    This can be really helpful for situations where the monster is getting resistant to your traps and doesn't stay in them long enough for you to use 2 tranqs, or for monsters that naturally get out quickly.

    I bought the game years ago, but just now I picked it up cuz I got burnt out of bg3 and man, what a blast I’ve been having. So far I’ve tried most weapons with the exception of the insect glaive, horn, and the ranged weapons, and I’ve fallen in love with the charge blade, such a fun and complex weapon, waking the monsters up with the hardest slap of their lives gives me the biggest dopamine rush, and whenever I wanna turn off my brain I use the longsword or hammer

    90% agree to this list. Last 10 is you didn't mention the Botanical Garden. Essentially free bonus materials per hunt from traps to ammo to heals to flash pods. Even if you don't get it up to "full efficiency", the only thing that gets you thousands of crafting mats better than the garden is specifically going after them yourself. (Even then I'd argue a completed yet unfertilized garden does it better)

    I honestly should go back and give all the weapons a go. I grabbed Hunting Horn right at the start and didn't let go for a long while. I eventually picked up both Bowguns as well, Light being my go-to for B52 and Kushala hunting, but it's hard to give up bashing a monster's head and then playing some tunes.

    10:55 capturing does give you more rewards because of double tails and double reward screens, what i mean is that maximums are different, sure the rewards screens are both minimally the same, but maximally different;
    slaying a monster;
    carve + tail + rewards screen
    capturing a monster;
    tail + rewards screen + arena quest
    arena quest;
    carve + tail + rewards screen
    hence it is always 100% without a shadow of a doubt, better to just capture the monster for maximal rewards, the only difference between the two is sometimes you wont get an arena quest for the monster you captured, but that only happens for a short period of time because you specifically killed that arena recently, so if you vary your hunts, you get a ton more maximal rewards than someone who just slays the monster

    I strongly second the 20th tip. Definitely try other weapons. Especially ones that didn't appeal to you at first. You definitely got the wrong impression of something with your first look at the weapons.
    Also Cotton you can dash attack again after doing a spread shot to retain your charge level with the bow. You don't have to start over every time.

    Originally I tried Great Sword and after I couldn't get past Low Rank Rajinoth, I quit until the expansion went on sale. Bought it (dunno, why, lol) and decided to look up a guide. When one of them made the comparison to Dynasty Warriors (Dual Blades?), I tried those and immediately found success and fun. It didn't hurt that I had the Defender gear to give me a lot of wiggle room for mistakes so I could learn but I've clocked in over 1000 hours in MHW so far since then.
    When Rise came out, I decided to swap main weapons and went for Insect Glaive... because it looked too confusing to switch to in World but I figured if I went in cold with a new weapon I could (and did) learn how to get the most out of it.
    Dying has a DPS value of 0. I'd rather win in 30 minute than lose in 10. It's a bit disappointing when you fight a clearly (element) heavy using monster and find people getting their blight. Even most so when it's one of those max difficulty fights.
    Seriously, who tries to fight Tempered Velkhana with less than 20 Ice Resist?

    number 16 is a good one to get across so many people think that capping gives more rewards and spreading that misinformation as fact sometimes forcing those to play how they don't want to play. I too personally like killing the monsters but I just enjoy the challenge and don't mind gathering other stuff while waiting for that timer but maybe that's because I started with mh on ps2. I feel maybe ppl who cap just have a short attention span or just obsess over efficiency way too much numbers and doing things as fast as possible doesn't mean anything if its not fun and that's what games are supposed to be, not everyone finds obsessing over efficiency doing that honestly no mater who u r makes the game just feel like a second job or a chore.

      Except you do get more rewards for a capture, you get more research points, more money, and more bonus rewards as you can break all parts, and get capture rewards that you cannot from a carve. The game explicitly tells you in the tutorial that you get more rewards for capturing as well.
