I’m 60 and ride all the time. I had sport bikes up until 2023. My friend had gotten a 2021 Multistrada V4S and was in love with it. He rarely would be on his Tuono V4 when we’d meet up for a ride. I couldn’t figure out why he preferred that adventure tour bike over his Tuono. I continued to ride my sportbike until one day I thought I’d go test ride some adventure bikes. Soon after I purchased an adventure tourer and have it admit I am happier and enjoy riding more than before. One reports going back multiple times for an oil leak. It'd be great to hear how service departments address issues. How long they had your bike, how did they respect a customers concerns. Do they charge for disgnostics under warranty periods. Taking a bike in for service is a huge hassle for many given limited dealers. Is it long turnaround times due to limited parts or qualified technicians. Also how do service departments treat you if you didn't buy from them. The service side of exotics is always in question and Consumer Reporting has not been favorable in the past so have they really put the worst niggles to rest by discarding the desmo or is build quality the luck of the draw. These are difficult to answer with a carefree bike but you must have insights given past ducs owned. At a minimum it'd be great to hear how you track long term on the total cost of ownership, beyond fuel.

Even my old Yamaha gets 310 miles out of a 5.3gallon tank. The pikes peak gets 200 miles from a 5.8 gallon tank. The Pikes peak is awesomely nimble, quick and comfortable. My Yamaha is nimble, comfortable and has half the acceleration. That's the trade off.
31.5k euro for a bike is not for everyone. I bought a v2s last year and the price tag was already more than enough for a toy! But well done and lucky you mate, pp is wicked...
Great video as usual. I have probably owned three dozen bikes (maybe more) and 100 percent agree that this is by far the best bike I have ever owned. FYI my previous favorite was my 14 Pikes Peak and my previous rides haven included everything from Groms, Harley Baggers, to many sport bikes etc etc. If I were on a budget I would easily recommend the V4S over the Pikes Peak as it already comes with bags, heated grips, larger screen etc. But....... if you can afford and justify it buy the Pikes Peak along with all the other stuff necessary to take it on long trips. You will not regret it. Yes, it is that good (especially with the exhaust, couldn't resist, sorry)! Rembo, I did not know you were not a Ducati prior to the V4. I have been for decades now (previously owned the gorgeous 996 and 998s along with not so gorgeous 6K valve checks) which is probably why I also had to ante up for the dry clutch. Dry clutch and Ducati go together (IMHO) like Valentino and 46. Thanks for the video. Semper Fi!
Hey John, thank you so much for taking the time to share a little bit of your story and your opinion. I certainly appreciate it and I am more than sure that the rest of the group does too.
Hi Rembo, I've actually sold my V4S Sport, I had it for 18 months and did about 4k on it. It was great at first to have a modern Ducati with all the electronic toys on there but I found the engine had far less character than my old 998R. The bike felt a little numb when it came to feedback through the bars so I had to pass it on and go back to good old V Twin Ducati. I'm now with my 998R, which I sold over 12 years ago and bought it back last month! At least I'd given it a go to see what all the fuss was about. I'll still be subscribed to your channel always 👍
Wow that a great share. I have both a 1260 PP and a M1200R. Both twins as you know. I'm not convinced about the Multi's V4 engine. i would have preferred the Pani's or the SFV4 engine to justify a trade-up.
Hey Rembo, love your channel and i hope its a profit centre for you. I can connect. Ducati was never on my radar until 2016. The Panigale 899 had fantastic reviews and the new 959 which offered more stroke was everything I craved. Bought it sight unseen (I took a leap of faith). No regrets. It delivered everything expected and then some. Trouble free also. However i needed something more civilized and less hot at the crotch for everyday riding. I paired it with a Monster 1200R. Perfect combo. Few years went by and I needed something for longer distances with wind protection. 1260 Multistrada Pikes Peak was the answer. Had to sacrifice the Pani but it was worth it in my case. never looked back.
I’m a huge Ducati fan and have 4 in the stable. I’ve also owned almost every Multi since they were first released, including the new PP. I love the PP but have recently gone full circle back to old school but modern sport tourers. I have the new Guzzi v100 (it’s amazing) and the 950s Supersport. Just prefer the engagement of them
I had a 2019 SuperSport S. It is a great sport touring motorcycle. I have taken 3000 mi trips in 5 days on it. I now have a 2020 Multistrada 1260 S. The 1260 S is even better on long trips because it has cruise control which is missing on the SuperSport. I have no clue how they could not have cruise control when the 950 MS has it. I actually find the 1260 S more fun in the mountains. The wide handlebars take very little pressure to countersteer. It drops into the corners so easily. I can be in 6th gear at 65 mph. I can pass an 18 wheeler on a 2 lane highway without shifting. I am over 100 mph when I return to the right lane. Both motorcycles averaged close to 50 mpg.
I absolutely agree with you, had dozens of great bikes over the years but PP is the best bike I have ever had. On gas mileage: my average (without panniers) is 33,6 MPG (b roads, highway, mountain roads).
Well said Rembo!!! Im patiently waiting for my PP which will only arrive in November. Its gonna be my first Ducati. Coming from a line of naked bikes ive own and currently I'm riding a 2022 BMW S1000R and it is just not made for long distance. I did around 1500Km last year on it and i was regretting my choices tbh. Thanks so much for the clarification and I am looking forward to seeing the PP in the flesh in 6 months time.
Funny I used to have the BMW S1000R and the PP replaced it. I put 25k km on the S1000R in a year and loved it but it's no good when travelling with a passenger or if you have luggage. For me the Pikes Peak is more fun to ride than the S1000R and handles corners even better. It's well worth the wait
@@OlivierWengerf28 I've clocked 14k mileage as of now. For me it's a great bike don't get me wrong. I love it. But it's just not made for long distance and also i need a top box for my touring trips. Really looking forward to when it arrives.
NOVEMBER, WHAT!!!, Move On - I have seen the 2023 Pikes Peak on many Show Room floors for sale NOW!, So unless you have a Monster Discount, MOVE-ON, and buy one IN-STOCK, Seriously, You are going to miss out on Many Many Smiles Summer of 2023, I'm Just Say'N!!!!!
i have owned the 1200 S and now pikes peak coming in from previously owning the panigale...all i can say is that the pikes peak is the devil in disguise...its deceivingly fast and the revs jump like a superbike would..i dont know if the v4s has such aggressive mapping maybe rembo can confirm..but the way the speedo goes ballistic between 8k and at red line..its testimony to the bike and its potential..it is simply put the best bike i have owned..though it may be track capable etc i am not fancying taking this to the track..maybe once just to check the box ;) still considering the FS exhaust when i can afford that
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on how it does handle in traffic and just riding in speed limits as just about every review focuses on its track capability……perhaps something on its nav connectivity also - Great review however, thanks 👍🏻
Well said. 👏. Got my v4 pikes peak in august 22 after ordering early December 21. I’ve just covered 4000 miles ,changed tyres 4 weeks ago I’m on 5300 now, I totally agree with you. This bike is ,it’s effortless. I spend all my time in twisties of western Scotland, my bike doesn’t see straights very often . Although I’ll be heading into Europe throughout this year which will require some highway miles🙄. Even then though it’s comfy ,I popped down to oulton park race track to watch British superbikes last October approx 160 highway miles there and back ,effortless so comfy and fast. I’ll be taking it on track no question, looking forward to that now I’ve got to know my bike. After owning so many of the best sports bikes in my life and importantly-doing lot of miles on those bikes. It makes me laugh now when I see some guys crouched on their superbikes ,leathers etc. I’ve done it and it’s not comfortable on a proper run. Good for posing about on I suppose and doing couple thousand miles a year 🥱🥱, not for me. For me it’s about doing the miles that’s how you get to really know a bike. If we had your weather Rembo , I’d have many more miles😎😊. But you know what I like going out in rain where I live , like yesterday morning, it was Sunday I headed up into mountains not far from here, very little traffic, got in nice rhythm , bike is just a pleasure to ride and I wasn’t hanging about . The word effortless just about sums my bike up. I can’t keep off it 😂👍. I also applaud the mileage you did on your v4s, 👏👏👏 in such short time. I’m hoping to at least match your miles. Keep up the videos ,stay safe and enjoy Pike .👍👍🇬🇧🏴
Hey Rembo, thanks for all the reviews and tge "how to" videos. All your tips and advices are perfect and very interesting. I am 44 years old, 20 years on bikes, and still learned a lot.from you. Also i appreciate the time you put to continue this. And after saying all off the above, I have a question I would appriciate if you can answer. I have the multistrada v4s for the last year. I really love it. But i don't go off road and i would like more sporting feeling when going on high ways. I don't travel a lot, but I want that feeling you talked about in this vidoe also for the little i do and once in a while driving on winding road). Also, I drive a lot in the city, and I understand from the video the pike peaks also feel better driving in town. So what I am asking, first, what the difference between the v4s to the pp especially in my case and would you recomend to replace the v4s to pp, when the money is not an issue. Thanks again, Gil
If you are always on the road and have twisty roads to enjoy than the pikes, Peak is certainly the better choice. If you do occasional off-road, a decent amount of gravel roads, then the V4S is certainly better. Think of the pikes peak as a combination, sport, and touring bike, and think of the V4S as an adventure bike.
@@RemboUSMC thanks for your fast reply. You helped me decide When you wrote sport or adventure. definitely - Pikes Peak. I will wait untill the end of the year to see if Ducati will make some changes for the 2024 model (hopefully a change with the Ducati connect). I'm happy i found you on youtube and kept following you, dear Rembo ☺️
Rembo: You see the new 210 HP and lighter, BMW XR1000 and the mega M version? Sitting here loving my PP, but my eyes are always open.... Gonna be interesting in the super sport tourer class.
I definitely think the market is heating up. BMW would have to really impress me in order for me to make the switch. There is more than performance to me......
But you hardly have any options for storage on XR1000M. At the moment all BMW is offering now are a pair of small over the rear seat bags that are rated for 130 km/h max. I think that is a joke for a sport tourer.
I own a 2023 MultiStrada Pikes Peak and absolutely love it. You are right, it is the whole package. It is fast and corners like a smaller naked bike and it is super comfortable also with a passenger. I feel completely relaxed even after a full day tour through Schwarzwald or the alps. Very different when I try the same on my Panigale V2 or MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR ;-) The ONLY thing I don't like about the PP is Ducati Connect. I have no idea why they would not consider Apple Carplay or Android Auto. I ended up mounting a $150 Car Play screen (from aliexpress) and use that for Google Maps, Waze, Calimoto, etc instead.
Hey Rembo! Great video and commentary as always. You are spot on. For me, the V4S is it! Touring via Butler Maps, que bueno! I am currently on my third major trip ((eastern oregon to kansas). I have camped on all trips, hence my V4S preference, a few dusty roads to out of the way spots. For me, don't see this as a BDR machine. Given all bikes are a compromise, my second bike is the DesertX. Again, totally agree with your thinking! Take care brother!
Good evening Rembo, happy to meet you. I watched your video about the V4 Pikes Peak; I've had a Multi V4S for about a year and I'm satisfied with its agility. The only complaint was the heat released in the height of summer from under the saddle. I would like to switch to Pikes Peak as I don't do off-roading and above all to have a more agile bike when cornering. Do you recommend this or switching directly to the V4 RS version released this year? I live in Italy near Milan and I only use the motorbike on weekends for fun. Thanks in advance for the advice.
I moved from the V4S to the pikes Peak. I am very happy with my choice. I love the area where you live, I’ve spent a lot of time in that region. You have some very good roads there that you could have a lot of fun with the pikes Peak. I hope this helps.
Greetings Peter! I can't wait to get my hands on a Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally. I don't think they did a press release with anyone in the US as far as I know.
Thx for this video. This video just confirms my thoughts on the PP. I am holding out to see what the new BMW’s which are slated to come out in Berlin at the Motorrad Days in July. The M model is suppose to be the PP competition. The only reason I don’t pull the trigger on PP now is because I really would like a shaft drive. But, we shall see and if I purchase a PP, your videos would have played a big role. Thx~
@@RemboUSMC… it’s for the touring part. I’d rather not worry about a chain at all when out for weeks at a time, or when miles and miles away from any sort of bike dealer. There are lots of pros to not having a chain for touring. I see no big deal for the sport side, sure.
Last year, I went on a long trip with my 2020 Tracer 900 motorcycle. I had a passenger with me. Everything was fine on the asphalt, but when I entered a slightly off-road path, I started to dislike the motorcycle, and I decided not to get another sport-touring bike. I sold my motorcycle. (Also, while parking in my slightly inclined home garage, the bottom of the motorcycle scraped.) After a short break, I decided to buy another motorcycle and opted for the BMW R1250GS. I chose this model due to its reliability, BMW quality, durability, and good service. However, after seeing the Ducati Pikes Peak, my interest was reignited as if I hadn't experienced those bad memories. But in my country, Ducati's service is at its worst level, I must say. All my friends swore never to buy a Ducati again. Sometimes they had to wait 3-5 months for replacement parts. Still, the Pikes Peak model is very attractive. Let's also see the upcoming BMW M1000XR. I'll make a decision by then.
I want a bike that I can ride kinda hard in the twisties (I live 30 minutes from the blue ridge parkway) I want it to be punchy and fun, but I want to be comfortable ish commuting, is this a great bike, or are there better options
Pikes peak is what…$4-5k more than the v4s? $32k? I got a really nice twin now, BMW R1250RS and it’s great and $13-$14k less. Granted 12k valve jobs, not as fast as a four, etc. i owned a wonderful 4 cyl. bike, the K1300GT years ago and that was the best bike i ever had. I love Ducati, had a Diavel which though a hoot to ride, killed me after 30minutes in the saddle. Same with the S1000R. Wish i could afford one of these but i’d never buy it new….i’m intrigued for sure…
Great review., and super detailed content. Since you live the Pikes Peak, and you can’t wait for the Rally, I really would like to hear your thoughts Ot the new RS. By the way, live your T-shirt and the flag on it.
Hey Rembo, i got this bike as well. i love it so far. i am looking for a fitted topcase, do you have any idea? i know ducati has one but pricy and small... ride safe
@@RemboUSMC yeah i am not a top case fan neither lol but i would like to have one ready when i am going for a long trip. hoping GIVI will make a plate for this bike.
Hi, I was wandering since you've owned many bikes, how do you think the Multistrada in either PP or V4S Touring, would compare to Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro? I am currently considering one or the other, but don't know if I can justify the difference in price.
Hi rembo have you ridden the 1260 pikes peak if so would love to know your thoughts compared to the v4 , i will never buy new so buy a 1260 pikes peak soon or wait 18 months till a few v4 pp start coming onto the used market . I’m in OZ
How do you compare the first throttle opening (the initial torque push) between the old v2 and the v4? I’m trying so hard in my mind (and in my wallet) to not justify a 30k investment while there’s so many pikes peak v2 for half that price 😅
Many people with the V2 engines say the V4 has more power after 8000 rpm while the V2 has more grunt and pulls harder at lower revs. I rarely ride at 8000 rpm. But I do ride in the 4000 to 6000 rpm with every gear. I have a 1260 and would not exchange it for a V4. I also do not care for how the V4 turn off the rear cylinders. That system has been troublesome for cars, I do not think it is good for long term reliability in a motorcycle.
Rembo, on average how many miles do you get on a tank of gas on the Pikes Peak. I have a 2020 Multistrada GT and I get about 200 miles per tank. Thanks
I had Ducati MS1260 before my Pike Peak and I agree 100% with you the PP is AWESOME! I would give it an 11 out of 10 but can only give it a 9 because Top end stops pulling at say 145mph, I have seen 164 with a tail wind and cold temps, I just wish it would PULL To 160. Does the Pipe & Engine Map you got, Help? Ya YA I like Speed ha ha ha ! "I Have the Need, The Need for Speed", TopGun
@@RemboUSMC thanks for the info it may be just in the electronic mapping give us that top-end Ducati also that's interesting with you saying it gets better acceleration cuz I can't imagine it accelerating any faster things a beast
Hey don’t know if you have purchased ignition and and clutch cover protection for your 2022 KTM RC390. I just purchased both from Bagoros Performance at 15% off! Check them out if you haven’t.
these bikes are amazing but i wish ducati would fix my brand new v4s that surges after 300 miles. i’m having same experiences as ride on richard dunn had. theyr claiming no issue which is bull
Try switching brands of fuel. My surging went away when I switched to the mid grade fuel. The engine was more temperamental using the higher octane stuff. I now only use Sunoco or Union 76 and both my Ducatis and my Aprilia run smooth as silk. Immediate startups and no surging or chugging when cold or hot.
@@109rfan1 The overfill issue has to do with the vapor recovery canister, a well known issue. As far as keeping the engine over 5000 rpm, OF COURSE! it is a Ducati! not a Honda Civic! I tell guys that on the forums every week. Why do they buy a Ducati and lug it at 2500 rpm? They are made to be operated at double that!😁
I’m sick and tired of pikes Peak already get the bike that fits your ride I’m looking at my xr1000 M 2024 or maybe street fighter 4s Don’t buy a big bike for reference buy what you acutely like and ,are you smile every-time you ride it

Great feedback. Thanks for sharing with the group.
Thank you for the kudos and thank you for taking the time to watch and post.
@@gregorytragitt2208 great analysis. I tend to agree
I'm already waiting when you test Rally version and publish the video
Call Ducati North America and tell them to invite me to a review or send a demo to my local dealer. I can't wait to test it out.
I have a Multistrada PP (L2 not V4) too and fully support what you said.
Thank you very much for responding.
Wow, November is a long wait, but worth it.
@@RemboUSMC Eagerly waiting for the arrival. 1 year wait to be exact. Placed my order in November.
@@OlivierWengerf28 I've clocked 14k mileage as of now. For me it's a great bike don't get me wrong. I love it. But it's just not made for long distance and also i need a top box for my touring trips. Really looking forward to when it arrives.
NOVEMBER, WHAT!!!, Move On - I have seen the 2023 Pikes Peak on many Show Room floors for sale NOW!, So unless you have a Monster Discount, MOVE-ON, and buy one IN-STOCK, Seriously, You are going to miss out on Many Many Smiles Summer of 2023, I'm Just Say'N!!!!!
i have owned the 1200 S and now pikes peak coming in from previously owning the panigale...all i can say is that the pikes peak is the devil in disguise...its deceivingly fast and the revs jump like a superbike would..i dont know if the v4s has such aggressive mapping maybe rembo can confirm..but the way the speedo goes ballistic between 8k and at red line..its testimony to the bike and its potential..it is simply put the best bike i have owned..though it may be track capable etc i am not fancying taking this to the track..maybe once just to check the box ;) still considering the FS exhaust when i can afford that
I have my name on the waiting list for the new CVO roadglide... but after watching you video, I am considering rather getting the Pikes Peak....
Those are two completely different bikes
Amazing bike and I love it, it can do so much! I just wish you could manually adjust the suspension.
Me too.
It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on how it does handle in traffic and just riding in speed limits as just about every review focuses on its track capability……perhaps something on its nav connectivity also - Great review however, thanks 👍🏻
Great suggestion!
Well said.
Excellent observations and reporting to the group. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Thanks again,
Gil
@@gilbarr1926 I appreciate you taking the time to post. Glad I could help Gil.
Very different when I try the same on my Panigale V2 or MV Agusta Brutale 1000RR ;-)
The ONLY thing I don't like about the PP is Ducati Connect. I have no idea why they would not consider Apple Carplay or Android Auto. I ended up mounting a $150 Car Play screen (from aliexpress) and use that for Google Maps, Waze, Calimoto, etc instead.
Great information. Thanks for posting. Your CarPlay screen idea is a first for me.
You’ve lost me! Are you talking about a motorbike or a playstation?
Thank you for posting
The Rally is so versatile
That sounds very much like the rally and I'm curious what you will drive😂
Many greetings,
Peter from Berlin, Germany
Greetings Peter! I can't wait to get my hands on a Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally. I don't think they did a press release with anyone in the US as far as I know.
You come to East Tennessee, let me know and we’ll ride brother. I’m on a 2023 multi V4S
I hope to travel in the US again this summer.
I would have to say The Pikes Peak is better !! The handling is top notch , very nimble!
Thx~
I understand the shaft drive for an adventure bike, but not for a sport touring bike.
Excellent information and observations. Thank you so much for sharing with our group.
@@RemboUSMC I actually thank you for sharing your experiences about this wonderful motorcycle with us. Greetings
You are welcome. I appreciate you being here. @@mrlawyer4271
Coming soon!
Hey Rembo, i got this bike as well. i love it so far. i am looking for a fitted topcase, do you have any idea? i know ducati has one but pricy and small... ride safe
Mike, I am only aware of the OEM top case. I am not a top case person although they make the most sense. I just don't like the look of a top case.
@@RemboUSMC yeah i am not a top case fan neither lol but i would like to have one ready when i am going for a long trip. hoping GIVI will make a plate for this bike.
Are you tempted to trade yours in for the Rally???
No i am not. I need to test ride a Rally first
Hi, I was wandering since you've owned many bikes, how do you think the Multistrada in either PP or V4S Touring, would compare to Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro? I am currently considering one or the other, but don't know if I can justify the difference in price.
The pikes Peak is definitely more sport oriented and the V4 S is more similar to the GS and triumph tiger family
Hi rembo have you ridden the 1260 pikes peak if so would love to know your thoughts compared to the v4 , i will never buy new so buy a 1260 pikes peak soon or wait 18 months till a few v4 pp start coming onto the used market . I’m in OZ
I have and I prefer the V4 hands down. Smoooooooother.
Any plans on picking up the RS?
Absolutely not. Not in my budget.
How do you compare the first throttle opening (the initial torque push) between the old v2 and the v4? I’m trying so hard in my mind (and in my wallet) to not justify a 30k investment while there’s so many pikes peak v2 for half that price 😅
There is a very clear and distinct difference between the two motorcycles. The V4 has a significantly more powerful throttle response.
Thanks
150-160
I had Ducati MS1260 before my Pike Peak and I agree 100% with you the PP is AWESOME! I would give it an 11 out of 10 but can only give it a 9 because Top end stops pulling at say 145mph, I have seen 164 with a tail wind and cold temps, I just wish it would PULL To 160. Does the Pipe & Engine Map you got, Help? Ya YA I like Speed ha ha ha ! "I Have the Need, The Need for Speed", TopGun
So, with the full exhausts, I see better acceleration, but I did not see a better top and speed, and I don’t know why. It might just be the gearing.
@@RemboUSMC thanks for the info it may be just in the electronic mapping give us that top-end Ducati also that's interesting with you saying it gets better acceleration cuz I can't imagine it accelerating any faster things a beast
@@BBBB-fy5ml Acceleration is improved. I pull away from my friends with MSV4s that don't have the full exhaust
How does the Michelin compare to stock?
Better in the rain, lasts longer, still has adequate grip for most street riding.

these bikes are amazing but i wish ducati would fix my brand new v4s that surges after 300 miles. i’m having same experiences as ride on richard dunn had. theyr claiming no issue which is bull
That is what the warranty period is for. Keep taking it back until it is fixed. The engine is still breaking in.
@@briangc1972 so it seems many of us have cured it by not filling all the way and keeping the rpms over 5k when riding
@@109rfan1 The overfill issue has to do with the vapor recovery canister, a well known issue. As far as keeping the engine over 5000 rpm, OF COURSE! it is a Ducati! not a Honda Civic!
