    A safer way to remove the caliper piston - if you don't have a piston removal tool is, remove the wheel, take out the brake pads and before you undo your banjo bolt simply pump it out with the rear brake lever. I have got many a seized piston out this way it never fails! good video by the way.

      Compressed air works too.
      I keep an old brake hose that had been cut and an airline fitting secured on the end.
      Can sometimes shoot a piston across the workshop of you are not careful.

    I was installing my front brake cable once and I got fluid all over my face and it got rid of my acne! It was awesome, to be honest but the un-awesome part was the 8 hours of throwing up and the 19 hours in the hospital

    The rear brake drags a little on my 96 Cr 250 , wheel doesn’t spin fully freely , if I spread the brake pads apart wheel spins freely , does my brake piston need cleaning ? I have clean some of the piston but haven’t removed it and problem still persists , but has improved a little .

    Never leave brake fluid on painted surfaces. It will act like a thinner, breaking down the paint.

    Does Rocky Mountain ATV carry rebuild kits for Formula brakes (front and rear brakes for KTM Freeride 250R)?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Meg Petersen* Sorry, for that bike we do not.

    • @rajkirannatarajan9276
      @rajkirannatarajan9276 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meg, the KTM Freeride 250R uses the same brakes as the KTM 85 sx. You could probably get by with a rebuild kit for the 85sx.
      The Formula brakes are notorious for failure. For the rear brakes at least, I recommend finding an alternate set of master and slave cylinders from more reputable makers. Nihilo Concepts sells a rear brake stay that can be used to mount big bike brakes onto it.

    Do you need certain brake caliper slide pin grease? I just had to fix the brake on my car and used grease designed for it, but it looked pretty similar to my belray waterproof grease.

    • @jonthelamb4549
      @jonthelamb4549 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MaxRay16 shouldn't be a specific kind it's just grease

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The wrench is on the banjo bolt at 1:38 in this video . To be sure, your best bet is to check out the OEM diagrams so you can be positive you're getting the correct part.

    I followed this, reinstalled the piston but the piston had a little bit of trouble at the start, then just slipped straight in and had almost no resistance once it got past the first couple mm
    Could this be worn pistons? (On front)
    I have almost no brake pressure, rebuilt both mc and caliper, and still no pressure, back bled and everything
    Doesn’t seem to be a leak but the brake pads wouldn’t come together for the first 5/6 times I opened the nipple
