The Sonic in the new live-action movie is the BEST interaction of the blue hedgehog we've had yet! At least, when it comes to his speed. For all the complaints being leveled at this movie about it's Sonic design and possible plot problems, this is the best showing of Sonic's true speed that we have EVER seen. Towards anyone reading this comment 3 years after it was originally posted, I’d like to express appreciation for the messages popularity, and point out a few common trends in the replies.
A: There are multiple reasons that he wasn’t able to dodge the darts, an example being his lack of awareness at the time. This post was meant as a joke, and I understood the logical reasons towards why Sonic didn’t dodge the darts, but threw those concepts out for the sake of this comment.
B: I’m aware that people have made this joke before in other comment on this video, and elsewhere. I apologise if you thought I had stolen your joke. I can almost guarantee that I was not the first person in the comments section to make this joke, and I definitely know I wasn’t the last. I did not see a comment making the same joke until after I posted this one, I swear on my soul, and am glad that this specific post of the comment ended up being the most liked version of it, but I likely don’t deserve it.

Plot speed with fast characters always drives me crazy. One of the reasons the flash is so frustrating. He can move/think so quickly that he can basically stop time for hours and run around the city while everyone is frozen...But a villain throws down a smoke bomb and runs out of a door and "oh no, they got away, its not like I could search every inch of this entire city before this villain could even make it out of the front door of this building. Oh darn"

3 years later and Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most successful video game movies in history (granted, after some heavy retooling), second only to its own sequel, and has even inspired his long time rival Mario to give the big screen another try. Talk about a Cinderella story.
It’s crazy to think that this trailer that made me think “Welp Sonic films are dead on arrival” turned into one of my favorite movies and got me to play through all the classic Sonic games and fall in love with them

We don’t know the context of either scene. I could easily see this movie following the obvious trope that he loses his speed at some point, hence why he’s helpless and hiding. And I bet at the end when he’s all bullet time it’s because he’s undergone some kind of super charge.

Ok well according to Google, the average lightning bolt travels at 224,000 mph. Converted to feet per second, that would be 328,533.33 ft/sec, let's round that down to 328,533 ft/sec. Barry grabs Joe when the lightning is about 2 feet above him and gets him about 20 feet away from the car in the time it would have taken the lightning to kill Joe. Moving at 224,000 mph, the lightning would travel 2 feet in approximately .000006 seconds. So in .000006 seconds, you can say Barry travelled 20 feet. This is ten times faster than the lightning, which would put Barry at having moved 2,240,000 mph. The speed of sound is about 761.21 mph... Putting Barry at Mach 2942, or 2942 times the speed of sound. Compared to what Barry normally runs, this seems RIDICULOUSLY fast, but compared to how fast Barry can technically run (because of SpeedForce or some shit) in the comics, it is only scratching the surface. I get this because Barry can run faster than the speed of light in the comics, which, according to Google, is approximately 671,000,000 mph, which is about 299.1 times faster than what Barry ran. So I think this is the fastest Barry has run in the series, the only time I can think of him possibly running faster would be when he went back in time while trying to stop the tsunami, but that isn't something that can be calculated.
