Question the 'canon' of the PMD games, but there's allegedly grounds for people turning into pokemon in the pokedex (even before rotem started trying to creep you out) and then there's the human-to-pokemon gainax that is the Mystery Dungeon games. Oh and can't forget Ashachu or poor Bill. Unless Tim's father was a detective, I'd be willing to bet it was more a friend or coworker than actually being Tim's father.

I literally got goosebumps when they revealed Pikachu was Tim’s dad. I still do whenever I remember it. It was so obvious yet at the same time not so much that I could immediately guess it (idk but the just being Tim’s dad’s Pokémon didn’t feel right, the vibe from the Pikachu in the flashback and our present Pikachu just didn’t feel the same, not the same vibes, regardless of the voice)

Here’s a theory for ya. Harry Goodman is Ashes un-named never scene missing father. Ash would be his first son before he became a detective. Making Tim ashes younger half brother. Maybe later in ashes life as an adult he goes on an adventure to find out who his father is and finds its Harry Goodman maybe dies tragically and leaves his father Pikachu in his will seeing as ash and his Pikachu have such a close bond it would be like Harry having a part of his son with him living on in the memory of Pikachu or something crazy like that.
