    Thanks for your story. As a long time traveller this story makes me feel relaxed with my own plans about Belize. Once I had a kidney stone while on Maui, waited 4 !!! hours to get to fill out those papers and another 2 hrs to see the doctor. No stones removed, just x-rays and prescription issued. $ 5'500 US. Glad I had Cc coverage.

    Excellent video and a great outcome! But are you now looking into getting insurance? I live in Corozal with my wife and two daughters. I moved here three years ago, and I don't have insurance. I have been studying and analyzing all the possibilities, 15 different companies (IMG, Cigna Global, April International, AXA, Safety Wing, Allianz, Aetna, MSH, Geo Blue, William Russell, AIG, Bupa, Integra Global, Foyer Global Health, Sagicor...), and all their rates and options. It is not an easy choice; I am not rich and still working. I saw many videos of ex-pats getting into difficult situations; some had insurance, others not. If you have complications, the bill can get bigger and bigger... imagine you have a cerebral tumor, and you need surgery in Merida because they can't do it in Belize. Some insurance companies even cover transfers and everything in Belize and Mexico. Living abroad without insurance is reckless, in my opinion. That time, you were lucky!

    • @WhereToNexxt
      @WhereToNexxt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @maxprog we looked into insurance, we just take it day by day... we didn't have insurance in the States so I guess we are reckless and live on the wild side. Lol,We live in a world where we have to choose what we can and cannot live without. We deal with things as they come. Most people with insurance realize what a scam it is once something happens. Either way there is a price on life in this world. Thanks for watching the video 😁

    Brother! There is a CT scanner in Belmopan just 5 mins away from St. Luke…. The Imaging Center near the back traffic circle ( roundabout) next to 3 grocery stores. I am shocked that they did not refer you over there! I must admit, St. Luke and BMA have pretty good facilities and staff however. By the way, the cash pay cost of an MRI scan at BMA is $1,500 BZD. ( I know not a CT… but FYI to you and others for this premium scan)
    So to be sure, your total costs were about $8,000 BZD?
    All things said glad to hear your wife is doing well and you’re not bankrupt! Again, those facilities you were treated at are pretty good.

    Glad your wife is ok and your experience was positive. I live on Canada and last year my wife passed out at work and was taken to our hospital by ambulance and still sat in the waiting room for 16 hours. Canada has "free" healthcare and it's the worst care. Off topic but I would love to move to Belize and do what you and your wife are doing. After selling everything and moving in your opinion what is a safe amount of money to have for a family of three.

      Hi, to be honest it will all depend on what lifestyle you are looking to have in Belize. We are getting ready to do a video on the monthly cost of living in Belize. Our budget is different because we don't owe anything on our home or land and we have solar so our monthly bills are really low. We can easily get by here on 1k a month if we budget correctly. Local products are affordable and imported goods are outrageous. We put the majority of our money into the house, land, solar and other things around the property so our monthly bills would be very low. Hope this helps you som and keep an eye out for our COST OF LIVING IN BELIZE video.😁

    Monthly rent in Belize on the low side is $350 usd a month. High end is $600 usd a month. I get free medical in the USA as a combat vet. Your hospital bill is still high for Belize. Worker make $12 to $24 USD a day. $4,000 is almost a years pay for some Belize citizens. What I would like to know is where to go for a snake bite if your in corazol

      In Cuba, you need insurance, and very few insurance companies will offer coverage for Cuba. Most Europeans will. Currently, there are no medicines, and facilities are in terrible shape. The best doctors have left the island log ago. Foreigners are not supposed to go to Cuban hospitals, by the way. I know all that because my wife is a Cuban nurse, and her sister and sister's husband are active nurses in Cuba. I also been there every year since 2012. Cuba is not a place to go to be treated, believe me. It was a decade ago, yes!... but since the Covid19 crisis everything has changed.

      I was in Cuba ( Santiago de Cuba) in December 2019 when Covid was threatening the world.
      I flew from Santo Domingo ( Republica Dominicana) to Santiago de Cuba on a small plane that carried about 30 passengers, most of them Cubans returning home but a few tourists as well.
      When the few tourists reached Santiago , we were offered Cuban MEDICAL INSURANCE in dollars at about 20 or 30 US dollars per week.
      I had booked an Airbnb in Santiago with private separate entrance and personal kitchen facilities.
      I was isolated ( no right to go out for any reason) for 10 days by the Cuban medical authorities with daily check by some monitoring personnel.
      After 10 nights, I was allowed to mingle with the regular Cuban population.
      But yes, medical insurance for foreigners is sold in Cuba and you do pay in foreign currency.
