The Mauler is a good rig, lots of modifications possible. I run mine with a 35T motor, combined with a Hobbywing 1080 ESC, and 2S Lipos. I changed the servo for an 18Kg one. I replaced the tyres with cheap alloy beadlocks, and a set of Proline Hyrax. Although with the new tyres I had to cut the front body shell quite a bit for clearance. Although I found the plastic diff lock spools in the front and rear axles didn't last long at all, but cheap enough to get alloy replacements from Aliexpress.

Always fun when a new toy surpasses one's expectations! I think the FTX Hi-Rock has a similar chassis to the Mauler, and I really do like my Hi-rock so far!

yes mate I can tell you I'm happy with it, few little niggles but nothing can't be sorted but stock it does well.. I'm sure you would be happy if you got one mate 😃👍🐿
FTX Mauler is the best crawler at this price range. If you upgrade its tires, it will handle rock crawling very well too. Its only problem is the narrow steering range.

thanks mate, honestly that is a tough one , the rear steer of the ravine helps it a lot where the mauler has more wheel speed which helps. I think we need a good head to head on the same obstacles to get a fair answer as I haven't tried the ravine as it is now on some of these 👍🐿
that would be a tough question really. I don't have the fury so can't comment on that one but the mauler is more capable than the kanyon because of the body shape, the mauler is good out the box but the stock tyres fill with mud easily and that would be my only complaint :) kanyon is good just needs a few mods to make it better. really depends on what you need. mauler more for rocks etc , kanyon is better as a trail truck .. they all fun whichever 👍

yes it is pretty capable I think. tyres could do with more gaps but I've seen worse and the steering angle is an easy fix , happy days 😃👍

This seems to have a really narrow track Marc,I wonder if wheel extenders might help. It certainly handles the terrain well though.
yea not sure tbh David as it already has 15mm extenders on it, may be a bit weak if I add more 🤔 I will look into it when I put it back together 😃👍🐿
I didn't know that you already had extenders on this Marc. It must have a very narrow track as standard then.
@@semperatis no they come with them mate, it's only an inch narrower than the kanyon , this measures 11" so it is pretty wide 👍
