You said that De la Hoya didn't have a great right hand, he was left-handed and fought with an orthodox stance. This is very interesting to know. I chose to become ambidextrous, I'm a natural right-handed, becasue I wanted to strengthen my left arm, I have even honed my left punch skills. I only practice shadow boxing at home, I was an amateur boxer and when I started to practice boxing I didn't have any kind of problem to strike with my left hand because I trained it previously. Anyway it is more comfortable to me to strike with the left vertical hook. I trained my left hook thousands of times with the horizontal position and i'm prepared also for this one. Now I'm honing my right hook because I've been focusing on my left hook for many years. I'm only a domestic boxer. I apologize for dwelling on it.
This really does work and isn’t as hard to do. The movement distracts your opponent and allows you to punch and step at the same time. I did this in sparring but I didn’t pivot out and I got countered. 😆🤫😬

@@WorldClassBoxingChannel Curious though, I watched coach toms video on the box drill when you step you land with the same foot as the hand you're throwing. On this video he's throwing the rear hand when his opposite foot is landing, is there certain exceptions to that rule then as this video implies?
Hi Tom, another great video coach...been watching some of Paul's early fights..master boxer..beautiful fluidity and timed moves to perfection..joy to watch. Good to see a young Tom in there too...so u did u learnt with Jesse Reid ?..
Thanks for all the support!👊🏼 I really appreciate it. No I trained Paul first. Then he came in later on and we worked together with Paul. Also I trained Paul to his last title shot on my own.
Great information coach quock question you said that head was over the left leg you mean in the center ? Is that the wrong way ? I didnt catch that part well
I got a fighter that is right handed but is dominant with the opposite foot (far better footwork as a south paw). Should he proceed with orthodox and work extra on footwork or use his natural south paw foot movement and develope his rear hand punches?
You gotta get Paulie in Tyson’s Legends league! Spadafora vs Mayweather. Or maybe a rematch with an old rival like Leonard Dorin, I remember that fight, I had Paul winning.
Hey coach is it ok to breakdown a southpaw moves like this video in a orthodox/right hand stance against a southpaw. if that makes total sense. But great video tho. 🤙

Great information coach quock question you said that head was over the left leg you mean in the center ? Is that the wrong way ? I didnt catch that part well
I think he mean the center of gravity?
pkiss it's called the centre line... your head shouldn't come over the centre line.... it's leaves you open to getting hit.
Coach teaches to keep your head over your rear hip in your boxing stance.
Look at his videos with his boxer Danny to see that demonstrated more clearly.

My stance is orthodox, so if I have to slip and step out to the left, I need to switch my feet, right?
Paul Spadafora is a great fighter, a right-hander who fights in the southpaw stance.

Wtf, I thought the other guy was the trainer but with tattoos, one of them transformed in to the other.
Everyone says we look like brothers
Great video! Thank you.Does that work for orthodox fighters too. Aren’t you stepping into the power if you do it Orthodox?
Yeah just step to the left outside and throw the right since your lead foot is now left instead of right
And also depends on the stance of the opponent
