Proper execution! Great instructor braking down the fundamentals of weight distribution and angles ect.. thats what most people lack. Great content keep the videos coming 💯
Casuals always bash Tyson for winning fights only because of his power and aggresiveness. Tyson is one of the most complete boxer skillwise that ever lived. He can defend while poring all aggresion. Talent that faded due to diminished discipline .
@TheAnax 11 there is more skilful boxers than Ali but not in the heavyweight I think in the heavyweights Ali is 1st Mike tyson is second and foreman is third
Great video. I'm a 5'5" south paw, my biggest challenge is reaching my opponent with the jab. Most of the time I use the jab as bait in order to land the left hand and set up a combo from there. Now I can add different jabs to my arsenal. Thank you Coach Yankello.
Im a 5’11” sp. The outside slip jab is money. The jab itself cant land flush on the head, with my right foot outside theirs, but it can crack their shell and set the left cross. The inside slip jab lands well and sets for a short hook or uppercut well if you take an angle, but usually leaves your cross too far away to land without re positioning. The body slip jab however works with your lead foot on the inside or outside, slipping the body the same direction inside, but stepping differently for each so long as you mind their cross and hook. This will lend massive power to your cross when you step out and rise from that deep slip.
As a shorter guy I have a lot of success baiting my opponent into reaching for me before I try to jab. Basically bait them to jab or 1-2 and then blast underneath and up through their punch as they reach for my head.
I marvel at the teachings I have at my disposal now that I am too old to fight. But it gives me great pleasure to be able to teach it to the younger generation and watch them develop into a productive human being.
He used that power jab against Berbick in second round right before the KO, watch the effect it had on berbick it almost knocked him out. That body jab Cus demonstrated it on Ali it was a thing of beauty. Great video coach

I am a non modern kenpo instructor and this is exactly what is needed. Straight bare bones understanding. Huge respect for your knowledge sir. Thank you for this
Coach Tom, I absolutely love your Mike Tyson videos. The way you break down the movement, the footwork, the angles is amazing. Coincidentally, yesterday in the gym we were discussing different types of jabs you could throw. I knew your videos was coming, and couldn't wait to watch it! Thank you!
I like where his hands are positioned, a lot of people have spoke about the peek a boo guard not allowing the fighter a low center of gravity, but Mike`s hands weren`t held to high and allowed him great balance to be able to slip and counter like this, great stuff.
Tyson under Rooney/Cus was a technical masterpiece. Distance control and removing the jab was key to the cus d'amato Style and was the blueprint to mitigating the size advantage differential almost completely.
Coach Where can I donate. You deserve compensation for such detailed instruction. I literally cant watch anymore of you're videos because I feel guilty for not paying you. These instructionals are actually teaching me better technique and form. Please let me know what I can do.

What I have in common w/ Tyson is I'm 5' 10" & Warren Ohio. I worked in Warren when I was 15. Two of the hardest hitting HW: Tyson & Shavers lived near Warren Ohio.
Tyson had a magnificent variety of jabs, combined with his excellent head/body movements, great footwork, timing, and brilliant defence. You can learn so much from watching the early version of him. And also practice throwing bombs from both orthodox and southpaw stances, as Tyson was able to cut the ring very well by changing stances and unleashing, not giving his opponent time to create distance.
Proper execution!
Great instructor braking down the fundamentals of weight distribution and angles ect.. thats what most people lack.

East Coast Cookie Boyz those kind of details are so obvious and simple that they are invisible for the untrained eye.

30 years later and no one can emulate what Tyson did. He moved like no other. His biomechanics, movement, power was just different.

Great video. There's a great video of Cus D'Amato catching a surprised Muhammad Ali with the slip jab.
Slip jab is so hard to counter right away. Thats an awsome tool!
Mike Tyson was just a special special fighter. We will never see a fighter like that ever again in my opinion. Amazing.
Thank you. Excellent
I train in the Catskills at Cus D'amatos gym...and yes...the angles and footwork are everything for peek-a-boo.....
Do you still train at the gym? That is really cool.

Cus is very underrated for some reason. Smart man.
cus know the timing of ali shuffle, he jab before ali finish his rythm
The Senator from Sarangani does these sort of jabs as well. He was definitely a fan of Iron Mike.

0:30 4 different jabs
0:40 1 postion beat speed
Postioning /Mental speed / :anticipation/timing (beats speed / and height and reach )
1 1:10 slip jab : slip opponent jab to outside /then step both feet push off back foot (back foot flat !)
Then jab simulationsly /same time he throw jab
2:25 I dont slip /then step in and jab no / slip and step in and jab same time
2:55 one eye on shot/ shoulder protection / into chin /temple
Cheekbone going to shoulder
3:45 2 inside jab :(all in one motion too )
Jab vertical sometimes /horizontal
4:20 slip jab same times
4:55 defend rt hand /weave under /come back with hook
5:15 3 jab : slip to outside /then throw powerful jab
Turn it over horizontal /or vertical
5:35 slip /then push off back foot
slip: turn just like throwin rt hand/turn on ball of foot
6:05 if guy throw rt hand /weave it and defend
6:15 4 jab : (just like the first jab )
But going to body now
Tuck cheek bone into shoulder down/one eye on shot
Turn fist all way over down
7:33 show it
8:15 shoulder protection /take head to other side (slip /head off center )
9:15 2cond one / have to be little bit closer
(mike would do it sometimes without the step /just slip to inside then jab )
9:40 weave rt hand too
10:10 3 slip/then jab
10:25 (different varaition of 3rd jab /or lets make em 5 jabs )
Just slip then jab /(no step )
11:05 4 or 5th jab / slip jab to body
11:50 bring both feet up
12:15 keep heel toe /
so when I go down to body(I make twist :from hips and torso and upperbody )
And not slide back foot
12:50 and mike was squared off :
13:10 I can keep coming and walking in too

Mike profected the slip jab . Because he was an infighter . Most people move back a step to adjust . Mean while Tyson is throwing hooks & upper cuts .
