@@sharona_rosa Somehow I am guessing that you did not grow up with the Latin Mass. It appears that almost all those who want the TLM did not experience it growing up. I did and have no desire to ever attend a Mass in Latin again. There were no missals with Latin on one side and English on the other. Maybe there are now. But we grew up not understanding one word of the Mass. Is anyone on this thread aware that for the first 400 years of the Catholic Church, the Mass was said in Greek and Aramaic? And the Bible was in Hebrew and Greek? It was tasked to St.Jerome by the Pope of the day to translate the Mass and the entire Bible into Latin because the Roman Converts did not understand Greek. They wanted the Mass in the vernacular ie, the language they spoke and understood. It was not because the Mass in Latin was somehow “ holier “. You should research the history of the Catholic Church. It’s fascinating.
PLEASE CONGRATULATE THE COUPLE DECIDED TO HAVE THE LATIN TRIDENTINE MASS FOR THEIR WEDDING.GOD BLESS THEM WITH THE GRACE TO HAVE A HAPPY WEDDING LIFE .
Crikey, this woman really hates Catholic tradition. The Mass is 'holier than thou!' Well, yes, it is, actually. It is literally Christ's sacrifice that redeemed the world
@@kevinkelly2162 The Catholic Catechism: He died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures" 601 The Scriptures had foretold this divine plan of salvation through the putting to death of "the righteous one, my Servant" as a mystery of universal redemption, that is, as the ransom that would free men from the slavery of sin. Citing a confession of faith that he himself had "received", St. Paul professes that "Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures." In particular Jesus' redemptive death fulfills Isaiah's prophecy of the suffering Servant. Indeed Jesus himself explained the meaning of his life and death in the light of God's suffering Servant. After his Resurrection he gave this interpretation of the Scriptures to the disciples at Emmaus, and then to the apostles.
@lorddevonshire6382 very good, but completely wasted on this bot / person who just wanted to drive by and dump some of that negativity and ignorance somewhere. Misery loves company and all. But they never want to hear about changing their life 🙊🙉🙈
PS. She was NOT refused Holy Communion. In her ignorance and pride , this lady used the occasion to REFUSE to accept the stated protocol for receiving at the TLM. How embarrassing for her!
It's a piece of wheat cursed at worst in the wrong name of God!! Sorry but only the sacrament of baptism can be accessed at this time or since the early 19th century at best.
She asks…did I do something wrong??? short answer yes! This “Irish Karen” was making a statement. What would have hurt for her to extend her tongue. She is championing a division. You sir are doing the same, your facts are in error. Your following statement is your attempt to cover up for your championing this woman’s action. ALL OF THIS IS DONE TO PROTECT ALL PARTS OF THE EUCHARIST PARTICLES TO WHOLE HOST.
@@thomasbroderick767 if you paid attention to the video you’d have your answer. The indult (aka permission to do something unusual, that’s what indult means) ONLY applies to the Novus Ordo mass.
So much pride and entitlement in her attitude. the state of catechization today... people thinking the priest should just do what they want and how they want it and if he doesnt, he's being mean and unreasonable. They can't even fathom that any of these rules or decisions may be for the sake of HER soul, including prevention of further occasion of sin!
The Maronite Catholic Church have been buying up so many Roman Catholic Churches here in Australia. The Maronite Church is thriving. St Charbel’s parish here in Sydney has 8 masses on a Sunday and each mass is full and communion on the tongue is the norm also 🙏🏼 praise his holy name
I’m an Australian Catholic… of course it is very sad that our parish churches are becoming ‘surplus to requirements’, but thank goodness the Maronites are the ones breathing new life into these buildings! The Latin and Maronite rites are in full communion, yes?
I went to a Maronite Mass when our Catholic Church canceled all Mass for a conference, it was so reverent that from now on I’m attending the Maronite Catholic parish../
Absolutely Beautiful Holy Mass. This wedding guest! What a betrayal to this faithful Catholic Bride and Groom. May they have a very happy married life. God Bless them always. Exactly the Holy Mass is our Praise and Adoration to God. Viva Cristo Rey
Our Lady ordered Rome's destruction in the 3rd secret of Fatimabe put to paper in 1944. I'm sorry but This Satanic Latin Liturgy of the 1962 Roman Rite was written by Freemason Hannibal Bugninius
The Mass is as reverent as you are. Did you grow up in the “ old “ Mass? I did. It certainly appeared more reverent as parents were allowed to spank you, pinch you, threaten you with punishment for not staying still at Mass. Even strangers around you could give you the “ cold eye “ and pinch you. No one dared miss Mass because of the gossip. If you think people were more “ holy “, you haven’t a clue. They most certainly weren’t in their private lives. I was a witness. And we didn’t understand a word, even though we memorized the Latin Mass in class with nuns. Not great memories. If I happen to hear an old Latin hymn at the NO, I shiver. If you didn’t grow up in it, you have a “ rose coloured glasses “ view. Did you know that the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom ( at my Mom’s Ukrainian Catholic Church ) was always in the vernacular - that is, Ukrainian - the language of the people. And married priests are allowed. This is pre Vatican II. The only change in the Divine Liturgy after Vatican II was removal of the Communion Rails. This was great for the priests who had to bend down to give communion with a spoon right into the communicant’s tongue. Very tough on the back for them.
@@cactusflower1970 Everything I typed is true. You would definitely “ shiver “ with unpleasant memories. We were constantly told by the nuns about the “ glorious “ deaths of the Martyrs and how we should be blessed to die the death of a martyr. You cannot imagine the horrifying deaths I imagined for myself as a young girl. Eaten by wild animals at the Coliseum, burned alive as lights at the same place - and to be ready to “ celebrate “ being allowed to share in the experience of the Martyrs of the Church. Have I mentioned “ Mortal Sin “ which constantly hung over our young heads? You have no idea about the Church pre Vatican II if you did not live it. Only Catholics were going to Heaven. Every other soul who was good ( no matter the denomination ) was going to “ Limbo.” Ever hear of “ Limbo “? I am just curious how about your age. You are telling me my experiences are false? Did you live during the same era as I did?
@@Ghostwriter-o6c I’m 53, having grown up both in Ireland and Metro NY, exclusively Catholic school educated. My father, 82 was an alter boy & still sings the Mass in Latin as he shaves, were two generations with the fondest memories, the most hilarious recollections, & both disgusted with the state of Francis’ Church & the Novus Ordo in general. I attend the Latin diocesan Mass and couldn’t be more delighted with it and the community.
My Wife and I got married at a TLM in England, and we did a similar thing. Printing those missal-ette's wasn't cheap I can tell you. But we did it precisely to try and avoid a situation where one of our non-catholic or non-TLM friends had an issue regarding the Eucharist. To make it crystal clear who should receive and how (and to try and phrase it kindly). Most of our family aren't Catholic as we're both converts so we didn't have any situations like this, but it was one of the things we were most worried about when we were planning. Thank God it went smoothly for us, but I completely understand how this poor couple must be feeling to have their marriage mass take this kind of turn. St Joachim and St Anne pray for this couple!
I think I know the couple whose mass she is talking about! They are a lovely couple, so devout and have waited a long time to meet each other, prayed loads of novenas etc for this day to come for them. God bless them with a long and happy marriage because they are the future for our Catholic Church. And yes they want as many children as God will send them!
Went to the Gaelteacht and they expected me to talk in Irish.Bought a Diet Coke and there was no sugar in it! Was playing soccer and had a chance for a goal, so picked up the ball in threw it in the net and the refreee disallowed it, I was humiliated! Now she hangs out her friends special day to the nation and stains their celebration because she got upset, how self centred!
She didn't even know that Christ is present in the Eucharist because if she did, she would not have demanded that receive communion on her own terms. She even mocked the Holiness and reverence of the Wedding mass.
It is such a blessing to be able to attend a wedding in the Traditional Latin rite. I would be so grateful to be able to attend a wedding in the Traditional Latin rite. Its sad that she just didnt appreciate it or understand how beautiful the Mass is.
To witness the Rite of Marriage in Traditional way I suggest one should attend a Chapel of SSPX. I'm in my 80's attending the TRUE MASS at SSPX Chapel each Sunday & Holy Day plus First Friday & Saturday said by priests who reject the Vatican Two heresies, as I do, and the doubtful Novus Ordo. Think about it. Get it wrong and the price is YOUR immortal soul. 🦘
I second everything you say, how far away has that lady moved away from the reverence of the Beautiful Latin Mass. Proud of that Couple, Much Respect. Pierce
God Bless the couple what a Beautiful Wedding it Must have being. Traditional mass the Eucharist is the most precious treasure and is protected with the love our lord deserves, and not to be touched by unconsecrated hands
We live in a therapeutic, relativistic, dumbed-down world 🌎. I also was highly amused by the caller finding her hearing in time to complain on national radio! God bless this wedding couple, and God bless you for stressing the fact that the mass is about worshipping God, not ourselves.
2, 1/2 hr Mass!! I wonder how long the celebrations lasted in the hotel afterwards. I bet it was much longer than 2, 1/2hrs. Sounds like a beautiful Mass to be. How blessed is the couple to have a Latin Mass for their marriage celebration. I would have loved it.
I'm sure that those of us who'd like to receive communion on the tongue and are refused it every time we attend an NO Mass far outnumber people like this lady. I suppose there was no balance offered in this program, putting forward the reason she couldn't receive communion in the hand? So much for media impartiality. Since writing my comment it has occurred to me that this was a set-up - a rigged call. I doubt any such "wedding" took place because, the 'lady protests too much' - the words of the caller and presenter sound simply too rehearsed and the caller is far too verbose to sound true. I think this is a devious attack on traditional Catholicism by God knows who.
Exactly ! last year my husband was refused communion on the tongue. We walked out of the mass disgusted! We’ve never been refused communion on the tongue
How very sad that this lady was unable to behave as a humble Catholic women. God Bless her with true faith. Congratulations to the married couple what a wonderful to share. Ave Maria
I only receive on the tongue and try to only receive from a priest or deacon. I also veil - what looks I get doing that! (I’m in the States) I do see that the Catholics that are staying are becoming somewhat more devout especially the younger generations. Our newer priests are also more devout. The hippie priests from the 60’s and 70’s are finally retiring along with their liberal ideas. We may become a smaller Church but we are a more devout Church. Love your channel!!! So happy I found it. My great-grandparents were from county Kerry, and Castlegregory 😊 Have a blessed day and thank you so much for all your hard work for this channel.
All I’ve heard from this conversation is, “I … I … I … I … I … “ I felt I was mortified I was embarrassed This conversation was all about herself. No mention of our Lord. No mention at all. She complained incessantly about the Traditional Latin Catholic mass. How sad for her. May God convert this poor old woman.
The archetypal boomer Noisy Complainer, that makes a church musicians life so difficult. Been locking horns with these types for 50 years. They often refer to themselves as We, when they are a tiny minority and show no consideration to the many folk who tell me they get spiritual succour from the old Latin, at sixties Mass with a translation provided. Give it 20 years.
I’m glad she went on radio, that’s God’s way of telling us how much we need to pray for her. My prayers go out to the presenter as well, and most of all to this Godly couple who was just joined in holy matrimony. May God bless your marriage immensely!
Catholics not familiar with the Latin Mass won't know that the rubrics of the TLM are completely different than in the Novus Ordo. There is no wriggle room for communion to be distributed in any way other than on the tongue! Every priest takes solemn vows to observe the rubrics of the mass they celebrate. Agree with you Robert 100% on this!
Oh if only all our Masses were as beautiful as this one!!! God Bless that couple and the priest...oh how Jesus and Our Blessed Mother must have been smiling.
I've been refused Holy Communion on the tongue three times now, once during COVID and twice after the diocese rescinded the instruction. Since the last two occasions I've been slightly nervous when approaching Holy Communion in a different church. Thus, I attend traditional Mass and NO Mass in a conservative parish. Strangely enough, I didn't feel the need to err my grievance to the rest of Ireland - I had thought of contacting the diocese but decided not to. What you point out about this poor woman's behaviour is utterly spot on; her main focus was on herself and her 'humiliation' and not on the couple. How sad that a RE teacher should think this an appropriate action. When I attend Harrington Street 's Latin Mass, the priest always announces clearly the rubric concerning the reception of the Eucharist. And if she chose not to pay attention or to observe every other Communicant's respect and reverence, it's difficult to sympathise with her feelings of embarrassment.
I would turn around myself if I was refused Communion on the tongue. I'd never dare to touch God with my hands even if I knew I couldn't drop any particles. Same with taking communion while standing now. I was lucky that for one I live in Poland, where all these changes went muuuuuch slower than most of the rest of the Church, and that in my own parish we have always only received while kneeling on the tongue at the communion rail (and it's not an old church, so I never even knew communion rails aren't a given...). My first time receiving while standing was at different parishes, where the priests would just stand in one place and have people queue one after another. Most people would at least bend their knee for a moment before standing back up to receive. I always found it curious that they would give Communion like that instead of how we had it at our parish. it just seemed weird and less practical. More... rushed?? Cause the priest would sort of stand in a "random" spot, clearly not a place that the architecture of the church thought of in advance, you know? "I'm just going to step further towards all of you and you just quickly queue so I dont have to walk around while you all kneel in a line, plus we don't have a communion rail anyway" - that's the vibe you necessarily get! Communion on the hand entered during Covid (well, at least when we were allowed back in churches), at least I've never heard of it before. And I just couldn't imagine myself ever being worthy of touching God with my hands, priest's hands are consecrated for a reason, it made no sense. I'd honestly prefer not receiving at all if I had to choose. I admittedly caught the scare and felt it was fine to watch tv masses and avoid churches, but ever since I realised that was very flawed thinking, I've been going solely to a TLM Mass. I knew and attended it here and there before, but now I just don't want any more NO. It's about the reverence of course, but it's also... it's also about the pain of seeing other people receive on the hand... and hearing stories of parish priests not making a big deal if the Host gets dropped (my father witnessed it during a NO funeral Mass and that caused him great pain, especially with the priest ignoring it till the end of the Mass and still not seeing it as that big of a deal afterwards. Sorry for a reply this long :) God bless!
Yes her focus was entirely on herself wanting to give the impression she is holier than everyone else, when she knows she isn't. Hypocrite is word that comes to mind, but she is so blind she can't see that she is repeatedly exposing herself. Her focus should have been on the Body of Christ when receiving Him. She doesn't believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, because if she did, she would not have expected to receive Christ on her own terms. She had also insulted the newly married couple by going on a radio show. As RTE are athiests, she has also publicly invited an athiest to mock the Church. I'm not a traditional Catholic, my parish has a very Holy priest from Nigeria. Everyone attending mass seem to be very reverent. This is not a traditional versus New Mass thing. It's about that woman's behaviour and I'm shocked that someone could get to her age and have literally no understanding of the mass and the Eucharist. Personally I think she is in grave sin.
@@viqala9159 I would much prefer to kneel when I receive the Eucharist in the NO, but if I managed to get down, I'd never get up again! I genuflect with the help of the front pew and then receive on the tongue. It is awkward, far more so than kneeling at the altar and having a priest who knows how to distribute the Host properly. Without the paten I'm straining to ensure the Host is not defiled by falling on the floor. It's good to hear that a few countries still retain the most reverent to receive the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Saviour
I have been refused as well. But it would be ok to bring this up to with your bishop. What u don't do is post gossip all over the radio. what she did didn't make any sense.
I am getting married in this church next year in a Traditional Latin Mass. I would be so so so hurt and upset if one of my guests rang Joe Duffy to complain so much about my wedding ceremony 😢 the nuptial mass is the centre point of the entire day for my fiancé and I and it’s so important to us. We are trying to have an authentic, true catholic wedding and marriage, yes we are practicing Catholics, yes I veil, and no we do not live together. I can’t believe this person who the couple cared enough about to invite her to their special day would do this. I’m really worried now. I will be putting information about our mass in the invitations to try and avoid this situation.
I think her underlying problem is not the TLM, it seems she doesn't accept Christ's presence in the Eucharist, because she would not have taken communion on her own terms. I think that is the real problem here, she also invited an attack by outsiders by going public and insulted the newly weds. It's all on her. I am not a Traditional Catholic and I truly find what this woman is doing shocking. May God forgive her. I hope you and your spouse to be, have a very blessed wedding day and future together.
@@outoforbit-yes I agree. Poor understanding of what the Eucharist truly is. It makes me sad that she would treat this couple so poorly on their most special day.
This woman has amazing hearing. She knows that the majority of people at the Mass did not hear the instruction that Communion had to be received kneeling and on the tongue. Also, I wonder if this same station reports incidents when a priest refuses to adminster Communion to someone who is kneeling, or when someone is refused Communion because they want to receive the host on their tongue,
Many times I have had to walk away without receiving communion because I was refused receiving on the tongue but I would never dream of ringing Joe Duffy about it!
I have lived in Romania for the last 20 years and the only way you can recieve Holy Communion is on the tongue. Personally I see nothing wrong with it . However I have never seen a priest walk away and not give communion and likewise the Irish people that have been in my company always adhered to the rule of the church and Priest where they attended, it is only common courtsey to do this in Gods Holy place in any church. The Lady should have been priveleged to been at a latin mass and been offered the Sacraments.
I was born in Romania and i also live here… sadly, at my church there are people that recieve Holy Communion in the hand…also it is a great joy for me that i can currently participate at a latin mass right here in Romania.
The part of that broadcast that hurt my heart the most was right at the very end, right before it cut off, when the man, the broadcaster or whatever he's called, said that when he attends a wedding or a funeral service he likes to feel like part of the community and so he recieves communion, but he doesn't know if he's in a state of grace or not, then he said probably not. First, if u dont know if you're in a state of grace, I can almost guarantee that you are not, since to be in a state of grace you have to have confessed all mortal sins and not committed any since that confession, and so if u sont know, that means you probably haven't been to confession in a long time or ever, and are not keeping track of your sins. This man obviously is ignorant of the fact that receiving Him in a state of sin is IN ITSELF A MORTAL SIN, and a terrible one. Poor Jesus, for Him to not only be touched by unblessed, dirty hands, but then to be taken into a sinful soul. You are desecrating our Blessed Lord. The Blessed Virgin Mother and our King and Savior Jesus Christ must be so saddened, it makes me sad and i have to pray and apologize for the offenses against Him. Every time I go to mass, which is NO, in my area there is no other option here in rural Pennsylvania, I always pray for mercy for us and pray to console our Lord as soon as communion is done because so many offenses, nobody kneels, almost everyone receives in their unblessed hands, it makes my heart hurt, which is so especially terrible because communion is a time of great joy, marred by sadness at the ignorance and indifference of Christ's "followers". The only thing I can do is pray and try to be an example. There's no kneeler, but I've knelt anyway, tho i can tell the priest doesn't like it. I've emailed many times begging for a kneeler so there's the option to kneel and im never even replied to. It's just so sad, poor Jesus!
Now she knows how those of us feel to get denied for kneeling and wishing to receive on the tongue....sounds like this beautiful couple really loves Our Lord, and why this lady couldn't wrap her head around why she couldn't receive in her hand...so sad that this is her complaint. It is the body of Our Lord, God love this couple for their perseverance. 🙏🌹
I will pray for this lady. There are far too many Catholics who do not know the true faith. Such a shame. I wish they would study it more cos it's so beautiful, it's actually amazing. I always receive on the tongue and from a priest. God bless and help poor old deluded Ireland once such a Catholic country.
Latin mass is so beautiful . They say it in st Kevin’s in south circular road in dublin. Every mass you attend you get the choice of kneeling at alter rail. The Latin mass is intensely spiritual . I am happy to say that St Kevin’s is my late Mothers parish church . I am sad for people like that lady also . Don’t want to judge we are all on our own journey of faith. Delighted to receive communion on the tongue this morning. Thank you Robert . You are very wise and Holy 🙏🏻
I left Ireland because of the media clap trap.. That whinger is typical. I relish being able to attend The Mass of the Ages, the Traditional Latin Mass. That woman does not know that we honour Almighty God in the host and receive from the consecrated hands of the priest, not a biscuit wafer handed out like a treat. God help those who choose ignorance over honouring Our Almighty God Himself.. That woman thinks it was all about her!!
Perfectly said!!! That woman showed no humility. I often ask people who want to receive Our Lord in the hand that if St. Francis, who had a stigmata but was not a priest, would not touch the Holy Communion, what makes you think you should?
How right you are. We have a Latin mass every Friday in the private chapel at a large house on an estate in the country. It’s really beautiful. Unfortunately the very devout priest in our neighbouring parish who said the Latin mass on Sunday was moved. So now I have to travel 25 miles to the nearest Latin rite, buts it’s well worth it. The reverence to our Lord is palpable. 🙏
This woman, sadly, is full of pride. Her mocking of the Liturgy requires us all to make reparation. She experienced what most TLM parishioners experience when they are denied the Eucharist in the NO mass. Lord have mercy on us all 🙏
I understand exactly how this lady felt. I always receive communion kneeling and on the tongue along with about four other parishioners who do the same. Recently our priest was ill for some months and we had various stand in priests at mass. I and my fellow ‘on the tongue’ recipients knelt at the alter rail only to have this priest thrust the Eucharist at my hands which were resting on the alter rail. Had I not quickly put my hand under the host it would have fallen on the floor. My fellow communicants, seeing what happened to me, rose and returned to their seats without taking communion. The difference here is that I was complying with the ‘normal way to receive’ which is still kneeling and on the tongue. This woman said she grew up with the Latin mass so she should have known she would only be allowed to receive kneeling and on the tongue. To go on radio with her ridiculous complaints only compounded the impression she was a half wit full of pride and ignorance.
Even if she didn't bring her glasses, or heard the announcement, she had eyes to have seen what others were doing. Yet, she stood and extended her hands. She did the embarrassment to herself.
I am so angry listening to this woman. How dare she?!! And saying the mass was ' holier than thou' . I'm speechless. She is ignorance, disrespectful to the couple aswell as the mass, and a complete fool. And Joe Duffy - well I wouldn't expect anything better.
I am having to pause every sentence just to calm down. The whining the whining! Hasn't anyone ever told her that whining and complaining are basically never something we should do. Us sinners deserve Hell, what could we possibly have grounds to complain about? Do we not deserve all temporal sufferings that come our way from our Blessed Lord? We should count ourselves blessed that our Lord has seen fit to punish us now instead of in the next life where all is eternal and unending
Yes, I was appalled at the radio host when he said when he goes to mass at a wedding or such, he always takes communion in the hand. He then said ‘I don’t know if I’m in a state of grace, probably not’!!!!!! He obviously is a non believer and has no idea the danger he’s exposing his soul to. 🙏
@@harbottle99 he'd tell you he's a Catholic and in the same breath tell you he supports SS marriage, abortion etc. He's a fan of the association of Catholic priests which says it all really.
This happened to me ---- the priest pretended that he did not see me because i was kneeling. My sister reported him to his bishop ---- and i was with him when the reply came "There are nut-cases in every parish." So much for reverence. I sympathise for your at a wedding --- BUT THE DANGER OF COMMUNION IN THE HAND is that it can be used to steal and sell consecrated hosts for black Mass ---- not by you --- but a temptation to others.
This woman was ignorant and prideful but she wants to blame the priest. She lists the parts of the Mass like its excessive. Thats literally just the Mass.
Indeed !!! The new mass has the same parts of the old mass. Her shock have having to read the different parts of the actual mass. You see modern Catholics are ignorant, she is the product of what the church has produced
This is the Eucharist that we are talking about - both the TLM the so called 'new Mass' - both pleasing to God.There is heartbreak, however - it is a great sorrow that many people have caused damage and division by their attacks on the Novus Ordo. This cannot be right - to cause a division in what is God's most holy gift to humankind. God calls us to be holy and to be one with Him and with one another. We must seek to heal. We must pray., We must be united in Christ. There is a need for us to examine our own conscience here - are we really for Christ or do we prefer our own version of Christianity. We must prayerfully read the Gospels and ask to understand the message. This division must end - we cannot call ourselves Christians if we do not seek and strive after peace. For the sake of the Crucified One please take heed.
Pride, pride, pride is disguise in many forms and shapes… So sad many people still want to push their own rules. She should educate herself more and try a little humility instead 🙏🏻
I don't think she understands that the Eucharist is the Body of Christ, because if she did she would not have expected to receive Him on her own terms. She may well need to start been cathecised from the very beginning.
Unconsecrated hands! Someone needs to explain to this woman THAT IS JESUS! If you cannot fall on your knees and receive our Lord from consecrated hands on the tongue, you need to reflect on the way you think of Jesus. This woman needs our prayers.
I think this when I watch the majority of parishioners ‘popping’ our Lord into their mouths like he was a cheese snip. I could never not give our Lord the reverence of kneeling and receiving him solemnly on the tongue. 🙏
Women like this are in many parishes all over Europe and America and many of them sit on parish councils and have the ears of the Bishops and priests. No further comment necessary
The worst thing that I heard was at the end when the radio host was describing his experience at various Masses: "Everytime I go to a funeral, or any mass, I always receive. I think it's part of the participation in it. I don't know if I'm in a STATE OF GRACE or not, I doubt it."😢 Eating and drinking his way to hell.
I noticed that as well and was surprised at his admission, but then thought it was probably normal and accepted by most who rationalize it in their own mind. I only learned of my own errors after learning about it in adulthood despite 12 years of Catholic school education. Catechism in many Catholic schools is clearly weak and has been for many decades.
I have been to a TLM wedding Mass and it was awesome🙏 I really had to reflect on whether I was really married at all! I have also been to a TLM funeral and again by it is so focused on what dying is all about. This woman just want to be offended! And of course Joe who is a former seminarian is delighted to play her victim melody. She had of course had a choice to not attend. God bless her soul because she has bought into the confused show of faith being offered by the Church.
"She had of course had a choice to not attend" - you see.. the attitude I get form her is that SHE graces everyone else (including God) with her presence, not the other way around. Same with both her and the host's remark about always receiving Communion, not bothering very much if he's in the state of grace. It would probably feel like a faux-pas in front of others for him if he didnt go to receive. So he sort of "graciously" does.
Did you hear the radio host say that every time he attends a funeral or wedding mass he receives communion because it’s part of the “participation thing” and he doesn’t know if he is in a state of grace or not not but doubts that he is?
I think this is so beautiful to have TLM for your wedding. I would be honered to be invited to this wedding. It very sad that this lady felt that she should tell everyone about not receiving communion from the priest at the TLM. All who love the TLM know that you kneel and receive on the tongue the body and blood of Christ. This is what ever Catholic should be doing. This is reverence for the Lord. 🙏🙏🙏 For this lady. God bless.
We had this issue at our wedding as well. People wanted to make the customs more about themselves. So we ended up with only one bridesmaid and groomsman and had a beautiful ceremony all the same :)
Attending Mass at the age of 26, being non-Catholic and living in sin, when my companion suggested i go forward and receive Communion (God forgive me!!!) i did. But i NEVER did it again. I just knew it was wrong. Became Catholic 9 years later, and now at 74 years of age, i veil, receive JESUS kneeling and on the tongue only, despite the fact that no one else does. No Latin Mass here in this poor little section of the planet, but Jesus comes to take me to HIMSELF, and i yield my members with no shame. Afterall, HE is all that matters. HE is ALL there IS"
💔💔💔 my 3 kids had High TLM for their wedding Nuptials and it was so beautiful! Each one of them! I have one more son, my youngest, who is currently discerning his vocation. We are truly blessed by the TLM! God bless that couple! God help us all!
It's sad that Ireland is so anti-Catholic. My faith, via my Irish great grandparents comes from Ireland. I wish people wouldn't give in to the propaganda.
I've been refused communion on the tongue 3 times this year. I'm not on the radio. I was humiliated by one priest and I walked away. I pray for him not lambasted him. It will make me a little more humble. Jesus said to bless and not to curse. Rather than take offence I say to myself God bless you.
Reception should only be from consecrated hands and on the tongue. Bring back the rails to all Catholic Churches. Your thoughtful words are always appreciated. Peace from Pennsylvania, USA
For 500 years the British establishment attempted to cut us off from Rome; in a remarkably short period we Catholic Irish have managed to do that ourselves. In hoc signo vivnces +.
How many people feel humiliated every time when they are refused to be given holy communion on the tongue I wish they thought of that and spoke about it as well 😩
I'm not a traditional Catholic but during covid, the priest gave communion in our socially distanced seats. He bypassed me, and then noticed and came back at the very end to give communion. I felt humiliated. Not because of the priest but because, I spiritually felt God wasn't pleased with me. I knew it was because at times during lockdown, I had neglected to pray.
Well done that Priest (capital P)! Cannot believe the lady was given one of the biggest honours and blessings to attend the Mass of the Ages to only treat it with contempt. Unbelievable.
I experienced HUGE embarrassment after a long bedbound illness. When I went back to Holy Mass and went to receive Holy Eucharist on the tongue, the Priest refused me, I was mesmerised. It turned out the Bishop had issued directive only Communion in the hand, and no one told me. A couple of people in the queue said, on the hand, and I obeyed. Although I always prefer to receive on the tongue. Making a scene is pointless, just comply or abstain for the love of God.
@juliabishop1968 - It is better to abstain than to comply. We are taught in early childhood catechism only the priest has had his hands consecrated. Again, better to abstain than comply!!!!!!!
seconding @shortnessoftime8783 's reply. Don't go with the crowd for the sake of it (now, I'm not talking about the first time when you got very caught off guard). If you know it's wrong (and I dont mean allowed or not allowed. It's not worthy), then don't comply!
“The host on the tongue”. Not just “the host”, the body and blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. “I only receive on the hand”. I only receive when the priest gives me “the host” in a high five. Why not just watch what everyone else is doing? Couldn’t she see what others were doing? I am in disbelief.
I was raised with communion kneeling and reception on the tongue in the 60s. We were also taught in Catechism that only consecrated hands can touch the blessed host. I go to Novus Ordo and when I can the Latin Mass. Latin Mass by far has the most glorious prayers and reverent attendees not to mention modest dressing. In my opinion Latin Mass is God focused and the Novus Ordo is more like a show or performance, man centered in my opinion. I attend both, but prefer the Latin rite.
Interesting- the radio host and the caller complained about 2.5 hours length of Mass. How long was the reception/party after? No one seems to complain about the length of the party. It seems that the Mass is usually an afterthought. Sad really.
It sounds like a very fine wedding Mass, too bad for this lady not taking advantage of the beauty of this Mass, she wanted to make it all about herself, lady it is all about Him!
Yes, Robert, we all turn as one to God, facing HIM together, our beloved Priest, inpersona Christi, leading the faithful, NOT turning his back to his flock.
So basically she went up, saw how everyone else was receiving communion, thought she'd do it HER way to be special, got refused, and is mad about it? What entitlement.
@13:25 in he hit the nail on the head. It’s common over here in the States, too. Too many people only use the Church and the faith as a “sprinkle” or a backdrop along with a good photo op instead of taking the sacraments seriously and wanting to live out their faith. I taught in Catholic schools from 1994-2004 and then again in 2010-2022. The generational difference is really sad. When I returned to the classroom the vast majority of students came from single parent/ divorced households and most of the kids did not attend Sunday Mass. Many of them reached 2nd grade and were still not baptized. Parents or grandparents had to quickly arrange Baptisms just so the child could make First Reconciliation and First Communion. Then they show up again when their child is in 8th grade and expect Confirmation. It’s really sad. I’m not sure what they’re expecting
@debbiegum2226 - You threw me off when you wrote "First Reconciliation"? I thought what the sam hill is that? Then realized you were referring to their first "Confession"!!! It is no wonder today's Catholics are turning away from the Church! Since this NO church has changed the Our Father, I should not be surprised they changed the name of the Sacraments!! Has the NO removed any Sacraments?? Much like Martin Luther did?? I cannot not understand how many people call themselves Catholic when they practice non-catholic actions.

The Catholic Catechism:
He died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures"
601 The Scriptures had foretold this divine plan of salvation through the putting to death of "the righteous one, my Servant" as a mystery of universal redemption, that is, as the ransom that would free men from the slavery of sin.

The true mass. People just don't understand because of the loss of faith
Very true. What a mess
I love “the old” Holy Mass. I think it’s beautiful and so reverent.
Mass of all time
The Mass is as reverent as you are.
@@Ghostwriter-o6c I think the only sentence you’ve typed that’s not false is that you shiver, & the reason why is obvious.
Every other soul who was good ( no matter the denomination ) was going to “ Limbo.”
Ever hear of “ Limbo “?
I am just curious how about your age.
You are telling me my experiences are false? Did you live during the same era as I did?

Since writing my comment it has occurred to me that this was a set-up - a rigged call.

I think her underlying problem is not the TLM, it seems she doesn't accept Christ's presence in the Eucharist, because she would not have taken communion on her own terms. I think that is the real problem here, she also invited an attack by outsiders by going public and insulted the newly weds. It's all on her.

Every mass is the mass of the ages.
@@harbottle99 That sounds beautiful! My wife, kids and I also drive about 20 miles to Mass.
@@Sole-tx9cx Thank you🙏 peace to you and your family. Keep the faith🙏
This woman, sadly, is full of pride. Her mocking of the Liturgy requires us all to make reparation. She experienced what most TLM parishioners experience when they are denied the Eucharist in the NO mass. Lord have mercy on us all 🙏
Thank you for defending the TLM and the couple.
The woman was appaled because in her world, "It's all about me!".
Exactly 💯🎉
I stopped listening to lifeline shortly after Joe Duffy took the job, he is so obviously a left wing anti Christian
@@pilgrim3387 I got the impression he was like that. I guess he needs our prayers🙏
Sounds like a beautiful and meaningful service. She should have just shown up for the reception party
Please God this lady will learn alllllllllll that Jesus is teaching her and live the rest of her life filled with God's love and joy 🙏🙏
Pride, pride, pride is disguise in many forms and shapes…
So sad many people still want to push their own rules. She should educate herself more and try a little humility instead 🙏🏻
I don't think she understands that the Eucharist is the Body of Christ, because if she did she would not have expected to receive Him on her own terms. She may well need to start been cathecised from the very beginning.
That shows that there still are good priests out there!
Pride, she’s so full of pride.
She chose to refuse communion she's full of pride! just show how bad the state of the churches.
I love your style Robert. You have an abundance of charity. God Bless🙏🏻
I try
He does indeed! He is an especially gracious host, a rare thing nowadays.
Lord have mercy. Father forgive them they know not what they do
I was shocked to hear he was a catholic given that he has on many occasions mocked the Catholic Church on the radio.
That was also my first reaction
I have been to a TLM wedding Mass and it was awesome🙏
I really had to reflect on whether I was really married at all!
Ego and Pride. I have been guilty more times than I can count yet I still I pray for her humility
She felt humiliated but never thought of Jesus is humiliated when people receive Him on peoples hand.
Did you hear the radio host say that every time he attends a funeral or wedding mass he receives communion because it’s part of the “participation thing” and he doesn’t know if he is in a state of grace or not not but doubts that he is?
God Bless that couple! And God forgive her pride.
God bless.
Uncle Joe seems to act as a sort of father confessor for such people. And he nearly always give them his blessing 'in Latin or otherwise'. Indeed!
We had this issue at our wedding as well. People wanted to make the customs more about themselves. So we ended up with only one bridesmaid and groomsman and had a beautiful ceremony all the same :)
At the Divine Liturgy, even the priest does not touch the Eucharist once it is consecrated. That was a powerful realization for me.
☦️
Attending Mass at the age of 26, being non-Catholic and living in sin, when my companion suggested i go forward and receive Communion (God forgive me!!!) i did. But i NEVER did it again. I just knew it was wrong. Became Catholic 9 years later, and now at 74 years of age, i veil, receive JESUS kneeling and on the tongue only, despite the fact that no one else does. No Latin Mass here in this poor little section of the planet, but Jesus comes to take me to HIMSELF, and i yield my members with no shame. Afterall, HE is all that matters. HE is ALL there IS"
We all made mistakes in our youth. Of course God forgave you!
God bless you
We need to pray for this lady.
💔💔💔 my 3 kids had High TLM for their wedding Nuptials and it was so beautiful! Each one of them! I have one more son, my youngest, who is currently discerning his vocation. We are truly blessed by the TLM! God bless that couple! God help us all!
Prayers for your son discerning his vocation. 🙏
Same here!
@@thomasbroderick767
I've seen this in Belfast but in all fairness the priest was really old and disabled.
@thomasbroderick767 these type of priests should meet Padre Pio
Reception should only be from consecrated hands and on the tongue.
Bring back the rails to all Catholic Churches.
Your thoughtful words are always appreciated.
Peace from Pennsylvania, USA
For 500 years the British establishment attempted to cut us off from Rome; in a remarkably short period we Catholic Irish have managed to do that ourselves. In hoc signo vivnces +.
How many people feel humiliated every time when they are refused to be given holy communion on the tongue I wish they thought of that and spoke about it as well 😩
Indeed!
Not on an atheist radio show though.
Beautifully explained. Thank you for all the education
Pride is an awful affliction. I'll say a prayer for her 🙏
I have never received holy communion in my hand 🙏🍀🏴
No problem - she just needs to go the Church of Me, Myself and I.
Pride.
Yes she went on national radio and made even more of a fool of herself then she made during the Mass.
I am like you and do the same
I concur heartily 🙏
This poor old lady is blind to the faith. Very heartbreaking. We should be learning from the the elders.
Why would she want to commit sacrilege by touching Him? It's so uncharitable.
I'd much rather sit through two and a half hours of a Mass than two and a half minutes of this woman talking😢
What entitlement.
she thought she'd teach them! bring them into the 21st century!
This woman is so disgusting and disrespectful. Some would call her a "Karen".
@shortnessoftime8783 Reconciliation is an ambiguous term. A modernist trap!
@@shortnessoftime8783confession and reconciliation are used interchangeably. Such a nothingburger to latch onto, they mean the same thing and offer the same grace. Stop kvetching
@@shortnessoftime8783also, no Catholics I know use the new our father. There is only ONE church, stop being schismatic lest you be cast into hell with all the Protestants and schismatics before the so-called “traditionalists”
I used to attend Melkite Greek Catholic Liturgies. I never became indignant because they expected me to conduct myself according to their customs.
That woman needs to go for confession ..she has no respect for the Eucharist.
Imagine going to such a beautiful wedding mass and having your heart hardened like Pharaoh.
