Kinda weird to not see a game on this list that starts with an M and rhymes with Petal Dear Stolid.
Yeah I suppose. The first one had some issues to work through though.
Jirard isn't very familiar with the series. He's only played the first MGS, and he didn't play it until he had to complete it for the show, and completing it made him hate it because of how hard it is to get the Big Boss ranking. So his first experience with the game was really sour and it's a bummer that he'll never be able to appreciate it in full because of that.
darkwater124 MGS wouldn't be in my top either, although I think the games are good, I just don't see why so many people have it as #1 on there lists. But with that being said, I'm surprised as well to not see it on this list lol
It's so many people's number 1 because MGS pushed video games forward as an art form more and broke more new ground in the entire industry than any other PlayStation game. Kojima literally set out to make the greatest PlayStation game of all time, it was his goal. And he absolutely succeeded.

Playing through parasite eve and legend of dragoon for the first time on a vita. Dragoon is... Really badly translated. It doesn't seem like it has the best characters or story from what I've seen

Henry Perez Just for you to know, there's a ps1 version of chrono trigger.
Xenogears wasn't an easy game to find in 1999 it wasnt until the GH release, and really the PSN release that it became accessible to most RPG gamers.
I was lucky enough to find a copy that I hold dear even to this day, and I just bought it because it had a Mecha on it, boy I was dumbfounded.
Finally, someone else who acknowledges Chrono Cross! It's so rarely talked about. I can virtually guarantee that if Jirad had played it, it would be in his top 5.
Henry Perez I dunno. CC had a mess of characters that didn't actually make sense as to why they joined up. And the ending disk is significantly shorter than the first one.
However. Miguel's fight and theme music is amazing.
I enjoyed the shit out of the game but it is flawed.

The fact that Brave Fencer Musashi made it on the list is enough for me. One of my favorite Ps1 games alongside Legend of Legaia and Final Fantasy IX!

Yes play it! I tested the demo version and it the jumping doesn't realy feel like the original, so it's kinda a different game^^
Retro Gamer Love they literally remade the game's from the ground up. Plus they added some new features such as adding time trials to the first two games. They're remakes not remasters. When Jak & Daxter was ported to the PS3 that is a true remaster.

Sonic Ace 24 There's SotN on the list though. I'm not a huge fan of Konami nowadays either, but they've published some really damn good games on PS1. Suikoden 2 and Silent Hill are definitely included in my own Top 10 list.

That beggining talk about being a Nintendo fanboy is one reason why I respect and like you, because I agree completely. People always talking about "console wars" and how PC is better than consoles, it's just dumb. Why can't people just play what they love, like I LOVE Nintendo mainly for there early years( SNES might be my fav console ever, at least one if them) but then the PlayStation came along and I've stuck with them ever since( with the exception of the Nintendo DS.) So I've never owned any Xbox, and I'm not much of a PC gamer, but that doesn't mean I hate them or think they're bad, I just am a PlayStation guy. Like if someone got me an Xbox One for Christmas even tho I've never owned a single Xbox console in my life, I'd be excited, cause I'm sure it's an amazing console. Because, like you said, I JUST LOVE VIDEO GAMES IN GENERAL.
PS: Props for putting FF Tactics on the list, Final Fantasy is my favorite series of all time, and FF Tactics and FF VII are probably my two favorite games of all time! with FF X and FF IX right behind them! Great list, keep it up man!

My play history seems nearly identical to yours (I guess the same can be said for millions of us) including 2Xtreme, Cool Boarders (1 in my case), me not playing Castlevania until about ten years ago any unending love for Crash 2 and FF7. Majorly loved your positivity and vibe and happy to see a generally enthusiastic fan who isn't around to talk down to games we all loved as little ones.

AHHHH! BRAVE FENCER MUSASHI! Just hearing the music gets me so hyped. That was the game that got me into video games as a kid. It's so good and I still think about how awesome it is.
"I have a fucking sword" is the most important clip from this.
All i wanna know is a few questions . .like WHERE did he get it. .HOW MUCH . and most importantly.. . is it a custom real sword or a prop sword. . either way it's badass.
I think it would be a prop sword, simply because actually lifting something that heavy would... you know, crush most people.
Still, it's a fantastic prop sword, I loved how detailed it was.

ff7 may not be the greatest final fantasy. What it did for j rpgs in north america is huge. Square soft may have pulled out of the us like enix did a while before if it was not for the HUGE success of ff 7. If it wasnt for ff 7 we might not have the j rpgs in north america we do now.

I love video games too man, especially FPS games. The past couple years, my love for them has grown immensely. I always played them as a kid but I love them even more as an adult. Idk, they’re just a great escape from work and other stressful shit.

it doesn't matter, it's not like much has changed (no new games were released) since then
Jirad the Resident Evil 1 remake didn't come out on Dreamcast. That was Code: Veronica.. Resident Evil 1 remake was exclusive to the GameCube along with Resident Evil 0. They have only now been released on Xbox One and PS4.
They also came out for Wii and PC Steam :)

Dude brought back so many memories! I remember playing Brave Fencer Musashi on one of those Jampack or Underground demo discs they had back before I could even read! I had NO idea what the game was called, all I knew was my little 4 year old self loved pressing the buttons and watching the guy do stuff. Just seeing it on here brought back memories like a flashback and when I saw it I immediately stopped what I was doing and looked and said, "Holy shit, is it really that game?". Dude let me tell you brought back some memories. Same thing goes for Final Fantasy VII. I remember playing it before I could even read. It was my big brothers game and I remember when I accidentally defeated this creature him and his friend just couldn't seem to beat. Fun times man. Thanks for the memories. Way back when times were much simpler. But if it was my list, I'd definitely have Spyro and Crash Bandicoot Racing in there. Great video man! Keep it up!

Like the sort of game you give to a kid who just learned how their fingers work. It wasn't that easy or anything. I think it was the music that played when you spoke to anyone. It was the same music every time...no matter how many times you spoke to a character...

THPS is on my list pretty high. yeah, 2 and 3 were superior, but, holy cow. When the first one dropped, it blew me and everyone I knew away. It pretty much took us from skating hacks to wanting to do something. Naturally, we didn't succeed, but we tried. A lot.

That's cool that out of all of the cool boarders games it's number 2 for you that made the list because that happens to be one of my favorite PS1 games as well. I remember playing it on a demo and got it for my birthday the next year. I actually have yet to play another cool boarders game, i know there are more i just love the second one so much i feel no need to experiment with the others.

I'm still trying to understand it. Either he thought it was on the dreamcast but it was really on the GC or he played only the remaster and tried to bullshit us.

Man, i really love Pac-man World but is pretty obscure, i hope someone reading this go play it because is an awesome game, a hidden gem of the playstation 1 in my opinion

Brave fencer was such a great game, I use to play it exclusively on a demo disc until jr high when my brothers best friend let him borrow the full game and I played the hell out of it and absolutely loved it
X5 and X8 were good. The Zero Series was fantastic. Zx was also really good. Idk if you consider Zero and Zx as main series, but whatever. Just my opinion, no hate whatsoever

What? Ocarina of time is not on this list nor could it have been as that is a N64 game and this is a PlayStation 1 list

fair enough but for all the times where I have seen people praising the PS1 and the games for it and for all the times I have seen people saying that it beat the N64 there are still only about 3 or 4 games on this list that I would be willing to put on a top 20 list for the N64 if they had came out on the N64 and honestly of all the games that came out on the PS1 I can't think of any that I would be willing to put ahead of FF7 nor would I be willing to put any N64 games ahead of Ocarina of Time they were both masterpieces when they came out. And although there are idoits these days that will say they are horrible because they "look bad" compared to todays standards. Breath of the Wild just came out and its getting perfect scores from almost everyone reviews it but I figure in 15 to 20 years there will be people saying it is overrated or awful because its graphics probably won't be able to compete with whatever they look in 15 to 20 years sorry for the rant.

What an unusual top 10, but it was really fun to watch and your anecdotes were so wholesome. I also appreciate your take on "fanboyism" and enjoying games. It's really just about enjoying games and not what platform they're on or who developed or published them. So with this in mind I just wanted to share the games that I enjoyed playing the most on the PS1. In no particular order:
Final Fantasy VIII (the reason I bought a PS1)
Final Fantasy VII (the first PS1 game I actually owned)
Breath of Fire III and IV (such a great and nostalgic series for me)
Spyro 2 (just fun to play and the right amount of challenge)
The Legend of Dragoon (just an overall good JRPG with some unique ideas)
Star Ocean 2 (probably the game I played the most on my PS1. Also the best in the series with the most likeable characters, imho)
Grandia (no other game ever gave me this amazing feeling of adventure)
1 Final Fantasy7
2 Final Fantasy 9(Even if it's second on my list on favorites, everyone knows, that it is the best FF game... Period...)
3 Persona 2(both innocent sin and eternal punishment)
4 Crash Bandicoot 2(I don't care if you have already completed some of this games, do the Nsane trilogy!!!)
5 Metal Gear Solid
6 Spyro 2
7 Digimon World 1(The true spirit of Digimon, raise then and hope that you did a good job)

What an interesting list. I love that you put some personal nostalgia favorites on there too. It keeps it from being too predictable. I know you limited yourself to only one mainline Final Fantasy, but would you put on numbers 8 and/or 9 if you didn't? I personally would root for The Legend Of Dragoon being on the list because that game is amazing and needs to be more than just a cult classic. Have you ever played it Jirard? It might make for a good Completionist episode one day. One game I love that I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned is Digimon World. Maybe it's not top 10 material, but it's great and there's gotta be people out there who like it that much.

Oh, memory card woes... One day my mum had a meeting with a friend, who brought her two sons to our house. They completely wiped the memory card data from our PS1. My family had a lot of fun playing that together, and all our progress on all our games was gone. We had just reached the last level of the original Tomb Raider and I had unlocked every single extra character in Tekken 2. Bear in mind that I had unlocked Alex and Roger accidentally the first time and didn't even know how to replicate it...
I feel so bad now, I deleted all of my dad's ps1 saves when I was 4 because I had no idea what I was doing
I let my friends son play my PlayStation and forgot to take out my memory cards... Yeah. Same happened to me....

I know, this is a nitpick, and you've probably recieved this same message hundreds of times by now, but REmake was not released for the Sega Dreamcast. In any official capacity that is. I don't have a list but one of my favorite ps1 games has to be Guardians Crusade.
I have never known anyone else who has actually played that game. It was so good and people think I am crazy when I talk about it.
