Thorpy FX Camoflange Flanger: First 100 Ever - That Pedal Show Limited Edition

  • We have partnered with Thorpy FX to exclusively release the first 100 Camoflange flanger pedals ever built. This video is the back story of how the pedal came to be…
    As regular viewers of TPS will know, Dan has a very soft spot for flanger pedals. His favourite ever is his 1970s Electro-Harmonix Electric Mistress Flanger/Filter Matrix. In fact, along with his vintage Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble, it was the pedal that inspired him to found his company, TheGigRig, and kick off this whole crazy pedal journey.
    For some time now he’s been looking for a new flanger that captured the sonic magic of his old Mistress… but that had a couple of extra features, was less fragile, less physically huge and did not have the vintage cost/irreplaceability factor. This is it, partially the result of a couple of long-standing friendships and mostly the result of Thorpy FX and Dan Coggins being able to design and make fantastic stompboxes!
    • 50 of our Camoflange pedals will be offered to existing TPS Patrons on 26 November 2019 - you will get an email. (Patrons must have been registered BEFORE this video goes out).
    • The remaining 50 will go on general sale via the That Pedal Show Store at 8pm GMT, Wednesday 27 November 2019.
    The circuit is EXACTLY the same as the standard pedal. These ones have the That Pedal Show logo, serial number and a signed authenticity card from Dan and me (Mick).
    If you miss out on one of these, Thorpy will have them for sale via his website at thorpyfx.com/
    They will also be rolled out to Thorpy dealers worldwide in due course!

    Killer pedal. Love it when someone takes a thoughtful approach to updating classics. Don't clone one; be able to get the spirit of more than one, and also be able to dial in your personal one. Congrats to you both.

    Listen... I so enjoy the show and the information you give, how well you guys play, your honesty in critiquing, within the pedals themselves and whether it fits your style or not, BUT... the relationships you guys have built changes EVERYTHING! You guys love these amazing pedal makers/designers because they’re good people, not just because of their brilliance at effects pedals. It’s always who they are, not what they do. It may sound sappy, but I don’t care. At the end of the day, we’re all just people. Thanks guys.

    • @_RLP
      @_RLP 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I agree. One of the reasons I like the tumnus is precisely this- the gain knob is a blend and it blends the clean and overdriven signals.

    • @Cheguebuddha
      @Cheguebuddha 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@_RLP T-rex Diva and T-rex Moller drive also have a Mix knob so does my CKK Electronic Gears (Ross compressor clone). Even my Mooer Reecho Pro has a dry and Wet knobs to blend. I think the blend knob gives so much more to the versatility of a pedal as in most cases we all want to retain as much of our original signal as possible.

    Wow as a Australian Veteran on a veteran affairs pension to get a camouflaged version would be so great. Is there a chance that in Australia 🇦🇺, I might have a chance at getting a camo version?? As I know it will prob cost me around a full fortnight’s pension, as long as my service dog has food I can hit the wheat- bix for couple weeks. As I was looking for a OD for fender deluxe reverb with strat Tele or 335 for blues and old school rock. Have my trusty 808 hw screamer my fathers phase 90 and carbon copy. As not allowed to work again. Family took off so me my guitar a camera and my service dog Trooper. That’s about life after service for me. Love the show, Thorpy from the show your pedals sound fantastic. Stay strong all and regardless keep it all going as your doing jobs that you can get up and feel great about. 🤙😎🇦🇺

    Possible topic for a future show: gold foil pickups and dirt pedals.
    I’ve got guitars with single-coil and humbucker pickups, and many different dirt pedals, and it’s not that hard finding settings on my drives and fuzzes that work for my guitars... but I recently got a guitar with gold foil pickups. It’s a lovely guitar and sounds so wonderful clean... but none of my dirt pedals are cooperating nicely with the pickups. I’d love to see you two mess around with gold foil and dirt pedals and see what kind of sounds you can find.

    If people aren't aware Thorpy has contributed a Golden Dane ( the 1000th Dane pedal) to raise money for charities. Tickets are £5 each. The video and details to enter are on the Andertons TH-cam channel.

    Couldn’t even hear the flange on some of Dans playing. Definitely could with Mick playing though. Sounds good! Interesting pedal for sure. 🧐 🤔

    Dan said "it stole my heart" and teared up.
    Btw, did Mick have mustered under his nose?

    Mick doubted a flanger would sell out quickly. Heh. Dude, face it, you guys have a ton of dedicated gear nerds that trust your recommendations. Good on ya. Release another 100 for us slower, dedicated gear nerds?

      We were astonished! The good news is that they’ll be on sale from Thorpy dealers soon enough... and Thorpy direct!

    So excited for this flanger...will it have a volume trimpot on the inside?

    Hey guys. Not really related to the video but you should look into chatting with Sarah Lipstate of Noveller. I believe she’s in the UK doing some shows with Iggy Pop right now. She’d be a fascinating show.

    It's 2019 and still I am waiting for the "most impractical pedalboard ever"-show.
    Remember that idea from 2016?

    Wouldn't it be cool if Analogman did a take on Thorpy's flanger around his knowledge of making the chorus? Or if he modded it along the lines of a Maxon Vintage Jet Riser VJR-9? Man!!

    Hi Mick, on your next Q/A or strat vlog would you mind discussing big dippers pickups in the JM strat. I'm looking to upgrade mine to acheive a JMish tone but can't find any reliable info on them in terms of magnets, output, tone.
    Are they pretty similar to blue or vintage?

      Hi Jesse. They’re more similar to my black Strat than Blue. They’re a tiny bit more hi fi I guess. Just good sounding vintage style Strat pickups. The rest of the guitar is important too, but if you go for pretty much any vintage style pickups, pots, cap and wiring, you should be able to sound pretty Johnny! Little tip - maybe try 300k pots too. A little more high end definition. Cheers!

    Those muscles (not you Dan), soldering small diods, resistors and capacitors. Mind-boggling.
