Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through TH-cam videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

When you think of TV legends Sir David Attenborough would surely be among the top of anyone's first thoughts (at least in the UK). He can make you love wildlife documentaries even if you never watch that stuff.
I wholeheartedly recommend you watch some of David Attenborough's wildlife documentaries. They are sensational and some of the footage will take your breath away. It's not for nothing that he is truly a national treasure. Simply irreplaceable.
He is such a wonderful man had the privilege of meeting him many years ago a complete joy.
The lady you didn't quite recognise is the fantastic and multi-talented Kathy Burke; comedian, actress and script-writer. You may well have seen her on Have I Got News for You but she has done so much more than that.
@Airstrip One Totally - and Gimme Gimme Gimme, although I've never seen that. Plus various film roles - for me her performance in This Year's Love was beyond amazing but she's done bigger films than that.

She was fantastic in the movie 'Nil by Mouth' but it's very gritty and hard hitting. Not an easy watch - one of her serious roles.

Such a gentle and likable personality and a champion for nature . Kathy Burke is a comic actress , well known on British tv .
Kathy Burke, fantastic actress, has played serious roles as well as comedy, her portrayal of Queen Mary Tudor in the film Elizabeth (played by Cate Blanchett) was phenomenal.
It'll be a very fucking sad day when Sir David is no longer with us.

An old family story. My dad used to work in West Africa in the 1950s and 1960s. On one flight from London to Lagos he was seated next to an enthusiastic young BBC journalist who was on his first flight to Africa. When they arrived in Lagos dad showed him around the city and they ended up having a drink together. The reporter's name? David Attenborough.

Sir David has been making TV programmes since the 1950s & I think his first was "Zoo Time" (in B&W). He was once Director General of the BBC (I wish he still was). There was a lovely TV programme of him and the Queen walking around Buckingham Palace grounds & chatting about the gardens & their history. They were both in their 90s but were really animated & relaxed. It's worth seeing.

As well as a director, among many others _A Bridge Too Far,_ _Gandhi_ and _Chaplin._ And though he obviously played a (somewhat minor) part in Jurassic Park...his arguably more major role in _The Great Escape_ will always be my favourite.

Kathy Burke did a lot of stuff with Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse, probably her most famous character was Kevin's friend Perry on the "Harry Enfield and Chums" show and the film "Kevin and Perry Go Live" and as the baby in the Naughty Harry and Lulu sketches.

Gosh, the wasp story brings painful memories back from my twenties.
I've been stung 3 times on my privates, 2 at the same time.
The first time it was wasps on a nudist beach after eating icecream very sloppily, it dripped on my crotch and 2 wasps came for a meal...
I wasn't aware of their presence and changed position, trapping them, *very* bad idea. One stung me on my Johnny and the other on one of the twins... ouch!
The other time was a few years later and the most painful, by far! A horsefly stung me and it got super swollen and ultra painful for days.
So painful I had to go to the hospital.
It felt like a throbbing toothache on the willy, going up into the belly and as far as the thighs. Horrible! 😱
Horseflies are the worst!
In my twenties I was a stinger insect magnet.
Hopefully, I've only been attacked by a swarm of wasps once in my life.
That's a true nightmare memory from my childhood.
The only positive aspect of the mass extinction of insects is that now I almost never get stung, except by mosquitoes.
