Not really dad jokes it’s a clever joke that’s maybe why you don’t laugh it’s a British thing it’s called taking the piss and most of us brits find it humorous no matter what age

The British just have a different sense of humour where couples will make fun of each other. Not an age thing.
Well I'm younger than you, so I think this is a "you" problem as opposed to a "ricky" problem.
Although to be fair, I don't think these are "Ricky Gervais' funniest moments on the Graham Norton show", his funniest moments are stories he tells during the actual interviews, but I guess those are too long for short videos like this.
If you want to see really funny Ricky clips, watch some of his interviews with Jonathan Ross, they are some of the funniest interviews ever...
Ricky is amazing and what you might not know is that he has an amazing singing voice too!

Wow - I was surprised this clip and your reaction to it got rather controversial. I had never realised that Gervais was as popular as the majority of people (based on this thread?) obviously regard him as being. Then I read the comments again and wondered if it was because of your "Dad jokes" comment which quite a few people reacted to?
I wouldn't connect Gervaise with Dad jokes, either...in fact I wondered if we had different cultural differences regarding what is and what isn't a Dad joke? Because, if anything, I find a lot of his humour a little more on the juvenile side...quite a big difference. His humour also works because he voices what most Brits are thinking but wouldn't say out loud. And then, of course, there's the shock value behind a lot of what he says, which makes people giggle somewhat nervously.
Anyway, I learnt a coupla things just from watching this, as I said. The first is not to criticise Ricky in public!!!😆 The second, after a bit of research, is that there IS a subtle difference between what Brits call Dad jokes (predominately puns) and USA (an unoriginal or predictable joke).🙃
So thanks for this: some unexpected food for thought.(Heh-heh, this thread turned out to be a sunny Sunday school lesson😂)

6:42 to me (29 years old) this isn't a typical dad-joke at all. Way too mean for the dad-jokes that are weirdly so popular on tik tok and other social media. This just feels like a fun relationship where you and your partner know each other really well and you're having fun clowning each other. This is actually pretty wholesome. On the other hand it's typical gen Z to pretend this is somehow wrong.

age has nothing to do with what you find funny or not, its just your own sense of humour, and the british sense of humour is very eccentric, sarcastic, and ironic
I lived in the US for a few years and I found that many Americans have trouble understanding sarcastic dry humour as they take it too ‘literally’ rather than tongue in cheek, I was constantly having to say ‘I’m only joking’ as they just didn’t get it. Plus they don’t understand irony either.
British and Australian’s have the same type of humour unlike Americans which is more slapstick and obvious.

Yes, I was quite taken aback by Joel’s comments at that point. I thought that he would love the whole thing. I’m sure it’s not just the older generation that find his style of humour very funny. Having said that, I’m not overly keen on some of his stand-up routine personally.
Surely his subscribers want to hear his genuine reaction to stuff, good or bad. Isn't that what the channel is about?

I don't know, man. The jokes about his wife seem to me like they're meant to be funny in that they reflect the kind of relationship they have and not just in the superficial "haha he said she has no friends" way. Kind of like the stuff Ryan Reynolds and his wife post about each other.
