Sir David attended the Centre Court at Wimbledon yesterday, to enjoy the first day of the Wimbledon Fortnight. He was afforded a standing ovation as soon as the crowd saw him, passing David Beckham in the Royal Box. At 98, he remains amazingly sprightly.

Hes probably been to more places than anyone in the world and has seen it change for nearly a 100 years! He seen with his own eyes the effects of things like climate change, deforestation and poaching etc

I salute you for correcting yourself immediately to say "Attenborough is an INTERnational treasure". You clearly "get it". 👏
The reason why meeting Obama was important was because Obama was actually interested in the conversation, recognised and deferred to Attenborough's expertise, and asked some genuinely insightful questions, not just the photo op.
He also went on to shape some of his policy on the advice of such an expert.
Can you imagine Dubbya or Trump doing the same?

David Attenborough was born about two weeks after (or before?) our late Queen Elizabeth II, I don't remember his birthdate but the Queen's birthday/date was 21st April 1926...so he must've been _98_ this year. 2:37 You have a valid point regarding what is known as 'sexual selection'. The main investment is usually carried out by females, developing and raising the young for the most part over the males. As such, many sexual species have evolved strategies wherein the females select males on the basis of certain traits usually, but not always, contributing to fitness (meaning the amount of offspring produced, as well as quality therein)..
Anyway, I only commented to point out your use of 'female species' and 'male species'. Perhaps that was just cutting your words down instead of saying 'female/male *members of a species'.*

There are probably plenty of scientists the president could go to for advice but by talking to Sir David someone not only an expert but widely loved. It would emphasis that the President was taking this seriously and that it would maybe get the message across to the audience as Sir David is so well known. It made for good TV rather than someone the public didnt know.

But possibly not as impactful over the long term. Watching cuddly gorillas might be memorable and make you feel good, but does little to help the gorillas having their habitats reduced due to human activity

I was enthralled by Attenborough's documentaries from a small child, however, in my adult years l have sadly discovered that he lied a lot too.

It’s a shame the way you reacted to David meeting Obama. I don’t think it was anything to do with politics, the meeting was to help wake up the populous about our planet and the dreaded global warming. Politics doesn’t come in to it…….!

Almost all the animals concerned are endangered because of human activity, not specifically climate change. I agree the reaction is more than disappointing and of course has led to a pile of comments from the deniers.

Connor, try to bear in mind you're a reaction channel. Ppl don't watch your channel just to sit & watch you, sit & watch things. They come for your 'reaction' to what you're watching. So when you want to talk about something, talk about it. Especially if it is in someway related to the subject. It's a bit different when ppl completely digress & talk about stuff that has nothing to do with the subject matter, because that can get a bit annoying. But if you want to talk about things the video you're watching reminds you of, or makes you think about, fire away. If folk want to watch the video without interruptions, they can go and watch it on the original channel. So just be yourself & quit worrying about it.

I feel the same about including a politician as a significant moment in the natural world as their emotions are precluded by will this enhance my popularity or increase my votes so one can never be sure if his words are genuine even if they are genuine politicians, through their own deceit and use of rhetoric, spin doctors and generalizations in order not to answer a question directly they exclude themselves from such a story about the preservation of anything.

Good luck trying to preserve anything if you think you can do it without persuading politicians.
