ok but apart from the joke, Bedrock is normal rock you can find anywhere on the surface of the Earth. And with that, its hardness changes everywhere. Obsidian would be a 5-6 on the mohs scale, Bedrock can be harder or softer than that.
@@Sharpless2 Correct. Bedrock simply refers to the topmost layer of rock beneath some loose material, generally called regolith, that may be more accurately described as soil, sand, silt or gravel. As such, and as you said, it varies everywhere on Earth. Some bedrock may be limestones, some may be basaltic or granitic, etc
@@jacksonriggle3153 correct. But its just cringey to see when minecraft players think that Obsidian really is some magic extremely hard material... Its natural volcanic glass and is around the same hardness as normal glass.
Cheers for another interesting vid. There are actually several materials harder than diamond, some theoretical and at least two actual! Carmeltazite is one that exists, and a form of boron nitride (wurtzite) is one that is hypothesized!
Given that those tiny garnet particles are moving at [whatever speed y'all figured out], is it possible that when cutting harder materials it's like hitting it with a tiny hammer, and it's chipping it away? I'm sure Cody could figure it out, perhaps by throwing that cut piece under a microscope and seeing if it looks like tiny fractures or tiny scratches.
The CBN (cubic Boron nitride) is the second hardest material on earth right after diamond. I know it exists as a crystal but it's super expensive and not very big crystal
I use it on my grinder here in my workshop. It is indeed tough! Used the heck out of it and it is still going. No steel is comparable. Nothing I have found. Even Tungsten cuts on it.
According to Wikipedia Moissanite is harder than Sapphire and not as hard as diamond, but we will never know for sure until a sample of Moissanite receives a proper lick test
Tungsten carbide is also a 9.5 on the Mohs scale. It is a very hard dense material that can be used in a lot of different applications such as rings and plates
there is a drain at the side that goes into the sewer system probably. Most of the abrasive and cut material becomes that sand they have to clear out, so the water draining is usually not as dirty.
From what i was able to find online (this is 100% possibly wrong i didnt research very much) the abrasive is able to cut through a material harder than it because upon impact it releases an immense amount of heat, which softens the material it hits and allows for cutting since the abrasive will be replaced by cooler abrasive which is maintaining its hardness while the sapphire stays hot enough to be softer. Hopefully im not misinforming everyone.
