Good job, you built a den. Guys grow old but never up. Thought about enclosing my simpits but never did it but it is still in the works possibly. My motorbikes live in a garage 😌. If they fitted through the door they'd be in the living room.
@cammy9r nice man! Ride and fly is the way to go. My buddy tiger was the inspiration behind this project. It's really silly but I don't regret it. Too bad only a small amount of people in the world would even care this thing existed lol
" i mean thats more buttons than most planes actually have " 😂😂😂😂 omG when you turned the camera with the guitars , i said..its literally me but with more buttons lol , because i do have my big collection of guitar from fender to washburn N4 or a flamenco Ramirez its around 17 guitars , on the same place i have my cockpit, so its my dream room where i produce and record my band, but yeahhh would be a great idea if i did a "cocoon" around my Sim Rig, yeah is a bit distracting...great idea Itty , i just started planning today and my wife is going a bit crazy with me, she needs more attention tho i understand, the kid the cat the dog, they all come to see me working and she stays alone watching House of Cards...Every now and then she screams for me to watch a part with her...lol by the way after watching all the video, great job brother, im doing exactly the same you did, i have so much of that studio black foam , and i will use it as well, surely it will give way more immersion and now where to use my portable Air Conditioner, tx for the idea and video, motivated me to do it, tomorrow im buying wood and all the necessary parts. That last moment was scary i thought all the "cave" was about to fell on you, developers need to work on better software i guess, the Heli was stopped right? careful with the cat..don't accidentally injure him/her (yeah the pronouns,,lol) , God forbid
@marcosavila8215 id love to link up with you on Discord and learn more about your music. Seems we are each other's doppelganger lol. I got tons of music stuff on my channel as well. @fastica believe me man, I winged it as well. But don't doubt your potential, if you can learn how to fly a f18 and learn it's weapons systems trust me, you're smart enough to pull this off
Excellent project. Turned out very well I think. Maybe if the light from the door bothers you, you can get a door curtain which will dull/blackout the light without affecting you or the space.
@@theittyreport Also have you ever heard of a program called VoiceAttack ? Its a program on steam that can convert your speech into controls. I used it for Elite Dangerous and for Star Citizen for deploying landing gear and plotting on the map etc. Pretty simple to set up too.
I have a very similar setup that is in a corner so I only needed 2 walls, and what I did for the entry opening is hung black fabric up so I don't get reflections on the screens, it works great and people can still stand behind the rig. 😊
@skyterror77postman47 maintenance already sucked lol. It's actually more accessible than you'd think but it would be hard to swap a TV out at this point
I did a similar build but use more accurate controls and lined them up with VR. I used small glass beads on specific buttons to really nail to response speed and help prevent immersion breaking.
@robinhillier4604 nicely done! Love VR but it plays really hard on my eyes after about 35 minutes. Feels kinda dumb to have a G2 and a crystal and not use them but I love my setup
@mje19D it's nice to see that you're now the 1000th person to say this even though at the end of the video I say it's not hot in there even with a flight suit on. But I like the looks of it and the cables require it to be close like this
this looks extremely badass, i have subscribed in hopes for more projects :D now just to suspend the entire rig in air so when you turn the entire rig turns too lmao you'd have to add a seatbelt or 7 to the rig lol, imagine doing a barrel roll like that
@realpiee it would spill too much beer! Yeah man, I'm doing another video explaining the cost and how this came to be from such a humble start from VR to this
@ simple fix just suspend the beer in the air also :D lol - i saw your PC video and that alone must average around $4k lol, I’m excited for the video :) I’m actually kind of surprised you didn’t paint your wall behind the monitors in that vanta black or whatever its called, its like the darkest black paint ever, would probably be good for immersion but likely very expensive. you should do a room tour video :) I’m quite interested to see any cool oddities or collections you have!
@realpiee bro, the studio is the video. People look at this rig and think it's expensive and have no idea the investment I've made in music that never paid me back the return. But I wouldn't change a thing
Good job! A bit overengineered, I'd say. But as the old saying goes, when in doubt make it stout. I understand that big triple monitor setups preclude their having to be kept static. Which is too bad, as the full impact of a motion platform derives from seat and display moving together as a fixed unit. I note that your tracker's camera is also fixed in place, disconnected from the seat motion. Which might result in some amount of unintended virtual head motion. In short, the ideal solution is to have seat, display and head tracker all mounted so as to move together. This would be so important to me that I would sacrifice the triple monitor for a single in order to reduce screen mass. And if a large screen is not feasible, sizing down and moving closer retains a decently large apparent size. For example, a 40" wide display will subtend an apparent angular width of 90 degrees when the screen lies 40" from one's eyes. If the typical FoV used in flight were to be 90 degrees, one would enjoy a 1:1 image scale.
@PatrickHaggan it's really not that bad, 19 fans and no moving parts. Just m.2 drives so not much heat at all radiating from it. Also, love looking at it and the usb cables kinda need to be close due to the motion platform
@jimmyhedstrom5266 there's a great reason it's not a mancave... check out the followup video on how this all happened th-cam.com/video/4Q_VKAMjqO4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TadOaFD-maVqkO8G
It's already amazing, but I think a bezel free kit would definitely be one of the better upgrades. Something like Boosted Media did for his 65" triples, by attaching two Asus bezel free kits together. It all looks pretty seamless when he's in the action.
Saw your excellent video on VR vs flatscreen linked from here. Your point about having to use the mouse is very valid. PointCtrl is an absolute necessity imo for VR in DCS. No need to use the mouse anymore, takes away the biggest issue with VR. Makes it possible to change between different aircraft much easier. Unfortunately it's not readily available - one-man-band with a 2 year wait list. When mine stops working, I'll probably stop playing DCS.
@tedwaetford really appreciate the kind words my friend! So many people assume a hate VR when I fact it's how I started. The pimax just took too long and the screen thing i have now was almost by accident. Had I stayed with VR, I would have never bought all these add-ons. But I love the rig, and been flying helos more than anything lately with my buddy. Thanks again for checking out the videos and if you care to check out my music stuff it's on my channel. Cheers!
Just a thought. Installing the TV's into the wall would allow you to access them from the outside, vent their heat out the back, and allow you to move those stands out of there to free up crawl space. You can also get some glow in the dark tape to put on the carpet so you can see your way around in there until you get things turned on....
@@theittyreport Yep. As for my setup. I backed way the fk off building it when the machine I was using either had a SSD thermal runaway, or a short in the cable powering it and burst into flames. It was under a desk and had DVI connectors at the time going to the triple monitors. Getting to the PC was hard, getting the 6 thumbs screws out while your face is next to the thing on fire spewing toxic flams was harder. Ended up throwing the entire PC into the shower to douse the flames. So it was a hot build! But now, I think about heat/access/space when putting things together that generate a metric ton of heat.
@wrayday7149 holy crap man! I've heard of over clocking but damn son! Sucks to have to rebuild a PC but it worse even to have to reinstall windows and lose all your settings and bindings. Not a fire that caused my crash, it was pimax software. That junk will never get near my computers again
@SackyX i heard about those, where do you find those? Only thing I'm worried about is how the run. My system maxed on usb hubs and running 6 monitors. I'd love to make it work if I could so any advice would be appreciated
Nice rig, huge screen, didnt knew DCS even supports wall-like resolutions! I recently put up my old old cumputer again, tiny screen, it almost feels like looking at a nintendo gameboy compared to my widescreen. If I would recommend one thing to improve DCS life by 500%, it is a 4-inch 25$ extension for the grip! Now I have one, it always gives me the creeps and phantom-wristpain when I see setups without extention! hehe
@dortywings7217 id love to get an extended grip but I actually had to saw off parts of the mount of the right mfd to avoid smacking into it. Took days to figure out how all this would work together so I'm happy I got this far lol!
@@theittyreport I did a more practical approach to my simcockpit using mostly 40x80mm and 40x40mm aluminum profile. I was able to figure out what Dimensions I actually need, and I could build everything step by step and add and adjust appropriately. I think the key to sidestick setup is using the WinWing Force Sensitive F16 stick, which barely moves at all like the real F16&F22 Stick
@OldManMetal-li8zu thanks for the questions! I'm actually doing a video to explain the cost of this setup as well as what I do for a living, but short answer is I fix stuff. Stay tuned man!
Looking around that room, and seeing all the instruments, I'll assume that you sway heavily on the creative side. If you do, then this kind of thing is probably inevitable, because it seems inevitable that a highly creative person would do things 'for no real reason', or more politely put, do things purely for their own sake. Love the finished product, very sleek.
@EngineerNotFound thanks buddy, yeah I'm definitely on the creative side. In my old life before music was free I was a composer and musician. Fought the good fight for as long as I could but just knew if I stayed the course I'd never own a home. So I learned the dark arts known as hard labor and started a remodeling company. It kicks my ass 1000 ways till sundown but it affords the toys as you can see. Regrets? That's what the beer is for
@Dude3ro thanks brother, it felt stupid at the time to a huge extent but the response I've been seeing from all of you guys tell me I did it right. Thanks for watching!
You´re living the dream man.... I still think you might need better ventilation in there. For the sake of the PC but also yourself. And how about a curtain to close the entry all together?
@SKF-4ever the vent i flipped actually does enough to keep me cool in there. And the computer has 19 fans so it's all good. The basement really doesn't have a ton of windows so even without the ac on it stays about 74 degrees year round.
@highdesertbiker thanks man! Still working on it, got the bezel kit in last night so there's still that to do. Check out the follow up to this video on how the evolution happened. Cheers!
@TexasRain104 thanks for the tips man, as I've said in the videos the heat really isn't an issue. Stays about 72 in the basement and the computer doesn't have that much heat.
So the extra room I have in my basement, no windows, one door, underground on 3 sides, is perfect, the best part is it was here when I bought the house, so it’s not “excessive” for me to use it for my “game cave”.
@three-card-dead great suggestion, but you're 155k views late in that one lol. Actually mentioned it at the end of the video but I keep it close to the system due to the motion platform. And it looks way cooler and common you gotta say that it looks way cooler than outside. And if this was a real plane, then it would be just as hot!
This is like my room (or Command Central as i jokingly call it). Only yours is a bit more high end. 😅 I have all my hobbies in one room. Music, computers, electronics/makerspace and simming. And when I'm not doing one of the hobbies I'm in there studying to become a commercial helicopter pilot. I like to think I'm in charge of my room, but wifey said no to put a fridge there because then i would never come out. So i guess she's in charge after all.. 🤣
Is this a man cave? LOL. I love it! No man cave is complete with out a nosy cat, oh wait, check!. Puts my little man cave to shame, but I do have 3 guitars, an aquarium, a surround sound system, racing rig, and it converts to a photo studio for my blog and soon to be youtube channel, but nothing compared to what you have. Very nice job. I had the nosy cat, but unfortunately, my little buddy is no longer with us.
@markp2085 bro, I'm sorry to hear that. My little kitty only made it 3 years and had to be put down just last month and it wrecked me. I get it. Love the cats. It's funny to know so many of us are cat life dudes. I guess it comes from our nature of dont give a f
@theittyreport I forgot, I used to have a drum kit before I created my man cave. Started playing percussian when I was 10. Drove the folks and neighbors crazy especially playing thrash and death metal.
@@theittyreport I have not touched a drum head in 25 years, I know sad. I still play guitar, less than I would like, and I have expanded out from thrash and death metal LOL. Lately I have been learning to play the Native American flute. Much simpler to play compared to guitar and drums, but has a beautiful sound. My flute is G tuned and has a deep sound that is erie and haunting. For racing, I currently have a stationary Next Level racing rig, but am tossing the idea around to get a motion rig. I race in VR but just sold my HP reverb G2 since Microsoft is dropping support. Hoping to get a black Fridsy special on a new one.
as an HVAC tech, I would highly advise you to NOT put anything over that return air vent. If your return is too restricted you may not feel a difference but your blower motor will definitely be working harder. Same thing can be said for lowering the amount of square footage the air can travel... So I would suggest relocating the rig if you dont want any future issues with your AC
@zac9260 as a home remodeling contractor can say i made sure all things were taken into consideration while building this enclosure. As I do appreciate the advice you'd think by me building the computer, the motion platform, the layout panels, stands, and enclosure by just winging it with no plans I'd really love it if the internet could reach a conclusion that I'm smarter than the average bear. And so we're on the same page, the back of the enclosure is completely open, the return grate was simply spray painted black to hide it and i reversed the ceiling vent to blow directly into the entrance. Trust me man, I got this
i got lucky found 'L3' simulator rig second hand for the price of 3 tv's and it came with 3:) wiki the L3 looks like what you built even has a little roof on it like a stealth bomber made to train truckers and fire truck airport drivers by a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin.
@kevins.3573 lol that's not a bad idea. So far you have the best idea but you'd be killed by the groups of people telling me I have a heat problem du to the PC
@ExpressiveArtsTech that's funny that you'd ask that. I've moved to 27 houses in my 47 years on this planet and when you move from state to state you have to load everything at once. So unless you want all your stuff to arrive without looking like it's been nuked you need padding to keep the scratches off
Okay please make another video regarding all the other stuff you have around, get some chopps on that kick-ass drum you've got on the side!!! ... Not to mention all the guitars hanging in the wall! Can I be your friend and play at your house LoL?

@JackSmith-wg4mf simply because I like the looks of it. That said, it's not hot inside as I pointed out at the end. The cables for this rig are also massive and very finicky and require a ton of care due to the motion platform.

That last moment was scary i thought all the "cave" was about to fell on you, developers need to work on better software i guess, the Heli was stopped right? careful with the cat..don't accidentally injure him/her (yeah the pronouns,,lol) , God forbid

@@theittyreport Nah, that's what I'd call a good start. :D

@mje19D it's nice to see that you're now the 1000th person to say this even though at the end of the video I say it's not hot in there even with a flight suit on. But I like the looks of it and the cables require it to be close like this
this looks extremely badass, i have subscribed in hopes for more projects :D
now just to suspend the entire rig in air so when you turn the entire rig turns too lmao
you'd have to add a seatbelt or 7 to the rig lol, imagine doing a barrel roll like that
@realpiee it would spill too much beer!
If the typical FoV used in flight were to be 90 degrees, one would enjoy a 1:1 image scale.
cant wait to check out more of your videos. great setup man!!!
@dirtinthebox32 thanks brother
Did you consider putting the PC on the outside of the "enclosure" to avoid the heat?
should be fine
@PatrickHaggan it's really not that bad, 19 fans and no moving parts. Just m.2 drives so not much heat at all radiating from it. Also, love looking at it and the usb cables kinda need to be close due to the motion platform
Absolutely beautiful! Amazing work, sir. ~Cheers

@@MarkInflictedDrums that's next on the list for sure! Thanks for checking it out
It's already amazing, but I think a bezel free kit would definitely be one of the better upgrades.
@wrayday7149 you should do that so I can comment on your setup. Just a cool 30k would be sufficient lol
@@theittyreport 30k... how much did you pay for those 2x4's?
@wrayday7149 100 million dollars... (insert dr evil meme here)
@@theittyreport Yep.

Next on the list: Pimax Super for that immersive view 🥽 and Moza Racing Gear to round out the setup. 🎮💥 Can’t wait to make another Apache video and upload it once everything’s dialed in! 🚁📹
@@foxhole99 love to see it!
You're nuts! Seriously... VERY cool indeed.
amazing, one question - why not keep the computer on the outside to keep it cooler inside ?
@JackSmith-wg4mf simply because I like the looks of it. That said, it's not hot inside as I pointed out at the end. The cables for this rig are also massive and very finicky and require a ton of care due to the motion platform.
@@theittyreport Understood, thanks for the information.
Doesn't it get extremely hot in there from the Screens and PC?
@TheShu66y nope, i commented on that in a few videos but it stays quite cool year round with the vent directly behind me.
Do you ever fly Jumbo jets ?Just to have a go at something a bit more basic ?
@Dave062YT not yet, but one day maybe.
"no hate" bro built that whole box when you could have just turned the lights off xd
sick rig tho fs
@inub1579 💯 agree! But I'm too much of a bored easy man child to let things go lol
