On Christmas Eve, we attend Church, we all receivenew matching pajamas, eat a prime rib dinner, read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" aloud, and watch movies together. On Christmas Day, we get up early, open our Christmas stockings, eat a lovely breakfast, and open gifts before getting ready to have our extended family over for a Christmas Buffett. After everyone leaves we turn off all the lights in the house except the Christmas Tree lights and enjoy the beauty of our tree. It is a pretty much perfect day. I am from the United States, Washington State.

We had dinner with our daughter and her boyfriend, beef Wellington with my husband’s special potatoes, and pavlova for dessert. We watched Christmas movies together till we got sleepy and went home very happy. It was lovely. Amazing restoration!

Happy new years from the US! Growing up my family had a tradition where my dad would put the first clue of a scavenger hunt in the toe of our stocking to find on Christmas morning. We’d spend the rest of the afternoon following clues and solving puzzles all over the house and yard until we found a gift at the end! I plan to keep the tradition going if I ever have kids.

It turned out really beautiful! Like new. Watching you work, reminds me of my husband, he could fix and repair anything; but where you are meticulously tidy, if I didn’t keep his tools organized, he couldn’t find a thing! Lol. But as long as I organized his tools (so he could find them) he was a real craftsman!

Gorgeous result! You asked about our holiday customs. Here on the Northern California coast it's crab season. We always have crab for dinner on Christmas Eve. My mother in-law is from the American South--Tennessee, where it's customary to have black-eyed peas for good luck on New Year's Day. We have those with collard greens, ham, and cornbread. Snow at Christmas is hit or miss in the US Midwest these days, and this year it's mild and rainy, boo hoo. The usual American Christmas--spend a ton of money and decorate the heck out of the place. Good food, etc. Very aware, too, that much of this goes back to pagan days, and trying to cheer oneself in the cold and dark. Fortunate to have good feelings overall as many are not. I like stripping/scraping as much as possible, and save the sanding for the last bit. I hate trying to sand paint because it gums up the paper so fast 🥴

We got to open ONE present on Christmas eve, saving the rest for Christmas morning. I gave my each of boys an optional choice of 2 presents that I picked out.
