Thank you so much for saving the knobs with the needlework inserts. Your patience, stick-to-it-tiveness and attention to detail has once again rewarded us with a beautiful creation. I am sure I am not alone in saying that I would have given up and just painted the darn thing and called it a day. I am so grateful for your videos.
Who would have thought this beautiful wood was under that old finish! The gold edging is a very nice (and smart) design touch. ⭐️ I’m glad you honored the old knobs.
It's hard to believe that this chest of drawers was hidden under that hideous lemon yellow paint. I love the stain you chose, so warm. I like that you saved the "fancy" knobs - they are so unique and really are like a statement piece of jewelry on a beautiful dress. As always, I just love your attention to detail. You are my favorite furniture saver. Have a wonderful week.
Somehow you manage to get the perfect balance in your editing... ! and the gold trim makes the 2 larger knobs look intentional rather than awkward. Excellent idea!
That little lady made you work! And those embroidered knobs are right up my design alley. Looks absolutely lovely, Jay. And the bonus of fur managers and warrior assistant made it that much more wonderful to watch! LOL
@@Flippingdrawers I can’t wait for your new videos! You know that 😊 I’m a huge fan of your channel! I’m subscribed to many channels, but yours is my most anticipated. I can’t explain it, but your work inspires me so much! Obviously not just me, your channel has exploded, so talent isn’t outdated yet 🥰
Btful-Jay!!! Omg…there is such a pleasing wood tone!!! You did a smash-up job! This piece has your skilled aesthetic deep in its marrow! Just gorgeous!
As always, the attention to detail stands out. What's appreciated is your voice overs telling us what you're doing and why. Another excellent tutorial. I like when you tell what works and what doesn't. Teaching us as always. The end result? Outstanding. Well done Sir
Your channel is definitely one of the top inspirations for me starting woodworking as well. I really love all of the work you put into these restorations and have learned a lot along the way. Thank you ❤️
Another masterpiece. I am always impressed by the attention you give to the entire piece, even finishing the back. That’s indicative of true craftsmanship.
Oh, Jay, the new colors are wonderful together. I love that you are so organized and meticulous in the way you proceed. Thanks for showing how much effort went into the preparation for staining. It's necessary to stay real about furniture refinishing.
Of course as expected cause we all knew you would make it beautiful and Hugo pretends to come check on your progress but he really comes for those cuddles lol thank you for your videos
Whoa that was a hard one. But your persistence and hard work always pays off. Loved at first site on those knobs! And of course the final project as well.
A neglected 'old lady' gets to live a second life thanks to you, Jay. It's beautiful. I suppose you're going to claim you're too busy sanding to reply to the comments 😂
A dozen kinds of wow!! This looked incredibly time-consuming, but the end result is a stunner. The knobs really make the dresser, and someone is going to fall in love with it. I watch @MayfieldRestorations, too, and it's so nice that you gave him the hat tip. The gold edging is just flat pretty, and reminds me of the brass banding that you've done on your own projects. Thanks for inviting us to your work shop, and cheers from Oklahoma!!!
Beautiful job. My great grandmother has a set of dressers like this one, same embroidery and same style embroidery knobs. During the 50s dressers like this one were like Ikea furniture is today except for the detailing. The knobs are hand created from a cast and the embroidery is unique to each owners taste. This is a stunning rehab and it really shows in the details. Beautiful 😊😊😊😊
The dresser is very pretty. In the USA during the 50s we had furniture, which was light in color, we called it blonde. The pieces look very much like the color of piece before you restored it. Thank you for this video.
The back board has a purpose, with skirting boards furniture does not always touch the wall at the top, the back board means it will always be flush with the wall, and with filling that gap, it prevents dirt and dust gathering down the back of the piece, now you know 🙂While you were sanding I already had that piece refinished in my head, with the pretty knobs I thought a really pale nude/pink, it would of been lovely in a little girls room. I repurposed furniture for decades, and pretty pink pieces for nursery's always a winner.
Amazing work! And it was good to get a peak at the challenges as well as a better idea just how time consuming some parts of a restoration can be. In general I am not a big fan of the large drawer handles but I think the ones you installed look great with the piece.
Another beautiful, beautiful job. Great decision on the knobs for the drawers. And the trim on some of the drawers was a nice touch too. Just a gorgeous all-over project. Thanks for this.
Your work is always exceptional, this piece is truly magnificent. I appreciate that you noted how long it took to sand, I refinish furniture and it irks me when I see videos that make it look as if everything can be done in 45 minutes or less. I have a 9 drawer maple dresser that took me a week to complete and I'm retired!
I am glad you saved those embroidered knobs. As you said, someone put a lot of work and thought into it. I think the knobs that you switched out to look nicer than the ones that were on there. And your cats are adorable.
The dresser restoration is like night and day. Thank you for saving the two big knobs with needlework, as a needle worker I appreciate it so much and yes it would have been very eye straining work. You can tell this is your true love/passion in life.
Beautiful upgrade! When you make a repair, it seems to come easier to you know. I really loved the work, and the last upgrade (the Mayfield recommendation) put on the elegant finishing touches the old girl needed. As a fellow cat lover, I enjoy seeing your snuggles with the neighbors cats.
I'm glad you showed the amount of time which went into this, I think many people imagine that you can turn around a piece of furniture like this in a couple of hours. Beautiful resto job and a piece of furniture I would be proud to own.
Jay, you are an artist! The results of this restoration are beyond beautiful. I wish I could own it…but of course I feel that way about nearly everything you restore. For what it’s worth, I like the knobs with the embroidery insets. Oh, and does Hugo have a friend who is visiting you now too?
THE PAINT...THE FILLER!!!!! OMG Jay!!! I would have given up and just replaced to veneer!!! This is why I love your channel. Your dedication and attention to detail is inspiring!!! I just love what you do!!!!
That look's a whole lot better than it did before. So glad you saved the petit point knobs, those take a lot of work to make something small look beautiful. What a lovely piece of furniture now!
This one is so special. It turned out stunning and has stories to tell. The knobs are placed on the small drawer at the perfect height for reaching while standing in front of a mirror. This is the place where a lady will place her makeup, jewelry, and lingerie. She'd remove her blush and lipstick as well as her celluloid comb and silk stockings from the drawer as she began to get ready. I wonder if a mom or grandmother embroidered the knobs for the piece and presented it to her as a wedding gift. I'm so glad you decided to preserve the knobs because they definitely belong to the history of the piece so others can imagine their own idea of its past 😊.
I loved the drawer pulls. I can see how they could be a problem, & divisive in people's preference though. I was taken aback at how difficult it was to strip this piece, the grain filler, & etc. Talk about a challenge! But in the end, you got there, kept the drawer pulls, & it is beautiful!
Ahh... So much better! I like it! Excellent job! Glad you were able to save the embroidered knobs. I would be so proud to have my embroidery displayed in such a way! I hope the creator knew. Oh, I think the "uneveness" of the paint someone saw may be reflection of the lighter wooden deck. (?)
excellent work as always and its good for folks to get a better idea of the effort and commitment required .....no reply expected...totally understand ....
Hello from San Diego:) for a 65 year old piece, it came out fantastic and I'm happy you used the embroidered handles! They needed to stay with the piece.
I’m 66 and I grew up with that exact kind of furniture. I hated it SO much. The finish didn’t resemble any kind of real wood I’d ever seen. You’ve done an amazing job on this piece. I never would have believed it could be so beautiful!
Jay, you did such a beautiful job giving this dresser a new loook. I love the dark color, it looks so rich and warm. I really detest blonde finishes, so thank you for spending so much time removing it. Your knobs look wonderful and the gold accents on the drawers make it look finished and polished. Bravo 👏 👏 👏
Love the brunette version, the blonde oak was looking a bit too brassy. Lovely work and those embroidery knobs get their own chance to shine. The gold accents against the dark grain - perfection!
What an extraordinary amount of work. My patience would have run out quickly and I probably would have given up. Kudos to you for sticking with it. Beautiful results.
Painting the strips of molding is a genius idea! It really sets off the hardware, and I’m so glad that you kept the embroidered knobs. I know this is a stretch, but perhaps the fancier knobs were used for a lady’s lingerie drawer? They look so feminine. I’m glad you didn’t over darken the wood.
Simply STUNNING!!
LOVE the gold accents!
I had NO idea that drawer hardware would actually work.
WELL DONE!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Once again, bless you for the cat cuddling interludes. They add a touch of humanity I often tind absent in other TH-cam restoration videos.

Who would have thought this beautiful wood was under that old finish! The gold edging is a very nice (and smart) design touch. ⭐️ I’m glad you honored the old knobs.
That’s the original factory finish.
It's hard to believe that this chest of drawers was hidden under that hideous lemon yellow paint. I love the stain you chose, so warm. Thank you so much 🥰 you have a great week as well
That looks like the original finish...the yellow was once white. It was supposed to look like ash.
Probably original finish, that was the style back then.
I’m just
Wow the dresser looks amazing, you put so much work into every item you transform.
Thank you 😊
Somehow you manage to get the perfect balance in your editing... ! and the gold trim makes the 2 larger knobs look intentional rather than awkward. Excellent idea!

What an absolutely fantastic transformation! Those blonde pieces are so difficult to strip and you did a great job bringing this one around.
Your attention to detail really shows with this dresser. What a fantastic job!! Well done and thank you for sharing it with us. ❤️
