A childsize roll-top desk is probably a lot more rare than an adult sized one, so that's a score! And I learned something new - how to make a really simple drill guide, one of those, damn, why didn't I already think of that moments...
That’s a good point I didn’t think about how unusual a child’s roll top desk is. Also the drill guide really only works if you make the original on a drill press.
@@restorationrhode I rather figured I'd need a drill press to make one - my mate down the road has a fully kitted out workshop, so I'm asking him to make me one with multiple holes, one for each size drill bit. And that desk is a cutie... love it.
Depression era desk...my sister still has her dad's. I did some restoration work on it about 30 years ago so her daughter could use it. They did have a tendency to become wobbly! Very nice job!
Awesome job i love old furniture its much better than todays modern rubbish.i have a bureau in my bedroom which allso has draws at the bottom and i use that part for my clothes its a win wim a writing desk and a clothes draw as well
That is a myth. Back in the "good ole days" they made tons of cheap junk. Of course, 100 years later all the cheap junk is long gone because it was made with cheap materials and labor. Only the good stuff from 100 years ago is still around.
Gd😢from Logan City, Queensland, Australia! That was a nice job on the roll top desk . I’ve never seen a child’s version . I also enjoyed where you commented only when necessary.
You did a wonderful job on this desk!! It's gorgeous. I would have loved to have a desk like that in my MUCH younger years. I really enjoy watching your videos. You do great work, and I really like your sense of humor. Thanks for sharing!!
Loved your typo...'in the darn'...it certainly was in a 'darn state' while in the 'barn'...I hope the previous owner gave you a discount...must watch the rest now!...dgp/uk
And now...a gently entertaining process (especially the glovesnap) and delightful result...trouble is, do you know of a child worthy of such a piece?...joking of course...I would keep it for ME, if I were you.. dgp/uk
I thought the same thing. It’s easier to sand all the parts when you have the whole thing disassembled and then put back together when it’s all cleaned up. Seems like it would be harder to do as a whole.
Those children's roll tops are always trash. Crap quality wood, poor construction and never worth the work invested because nobody ever wants to spend more than @ $25 to buy them.
Beautiful! I love to see old things given new life.
Thank you!!
Beautiful job! You fixed everything and saved this rare find for another 100 years! Absolutely gorgeous! 😊❤
Great job looks beautiful
Thank you!!

@ that’s a good idea to make one with multiple holes.
I thought maybe it could be used as a bread cabinet in a kitchen. Put breads and buns inside to keep flies and wasps away.
Wow what a beauty…loved your video. You restored it to a useful piece of furniture to be enjoyed for years. Linda Beals.
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Turned out great. I'd love to own a desk like that!
Thanks!

Very nice job!
✨️Beautifully restored 💫
What a nice job on this roll top desk. Absolutely phenomenal.
Thank you!!
Gosh, I would have loved this as a child! Gorgeous!
Me too! Thanks!
Perfection is your job!!! Congratulations! ❤🎉
Thank you so much! I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Good work. Hope you kept the old drawer base, I loved those key shadows. Coulda framed it as art!
Thanks! I do still have the drawer bottom. If you want it you can have it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Love your humour too
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Very nice restoration.👍🏾

Same happened to me! Mine was made for Sears Roebuck catalog in the 1940s, must have been a pretty exciting gift to get back then!
Great work friend, look's great, have a nice day !!!. Brian UK !!! 😀👍♠
You certainly made lemonade from a decaying lemon!!
I agree! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful ❤

Haha. Remind me not to edit videos at 2am. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful 😊
gorgeous
Very nice
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
bravo! 👏👏👏
Great job! I was hoping that there’d be a cool, old fabric behind the roll. That duct tape was not the brightest idea someone had.
Haha! Me too! Thanks!
Nice job ❤❤❤❤ and I was already subscribed lol
Nice fix.
Thanks!
OMG what a beauty! Since I was a child I have a liking for desks with roll tops! 😍🤩
Thank you! I think roll tops are awesome too. So charming.
Congratulations on your work, my friend, it was fantastic.🇧🇷
Brazil
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Ha quedado precioso
I agree! Thanks!
Dowel joints suggest its noot that old and a cheap one to
Catfished. Lol. Was the desk younger than portrayed? I don't think that duct tape was 30 years old.
That childs desk looks great.
Very good!
I'm from Americana SP Brasil.
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!
Muito bom mesmo! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thank you!!
Just waiting to see if you will prolong the legs 😂
Probably not a bad idea lol

Thank you! I know a few kids who are occasionally worthy of piece like this haha.
They make a nice little hall table, thats how i used mine and sold the next one❤
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
Sand the inside! You already had it in pieces, why not just finish sanding all of it?? 4/5
Did you want every single moment filmed? It would make a very long video.
I thought the same thing. It’s easier to sand all the parts when you have the whole thing disassembled and then put back together when it’s all cleaned up. Seems like it would be harder to do as a whole.
i am not chicken i hit subscribe and like are you satisfied ?
Somewhat satisfied. I’m kidding….or am I? Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it and welcome to the channel!
@@restorationrhode I AM KIDDING TOO THANKS A LOT FROM CASABLANCA MOROCCO

I didn’t think the construction of this one was that poor. Could it be better, sure, but it still has a nice maple wood. Thank for watching!
That is your opinion. I agree the construction was not that bad.
Nice, maple wood is not crap.
I've seen two that were as well built as adult desks.
