I work at Rivian validating the motors, and I had no clue the R3 existed.. nobody did. Insane feat!

@@williambradberry3036 The risk is very low right now, go long with Rivian. Shitty management drove their price down initially, but they are gone.
please get them to change the location of the charge port to rear driver side or front passenger for super charger ease of access. otherwise people will be very dissapointed and will cancel reservations
@@JoeGo101 Super Charger V4 will have longer cables, and the rear-passenger is to accommodate the European market. Can't do front-passenger since the single motor is RWD, so they'd need an extra long high-voltage wire all the way to the back first. I think having a NACS to NACS cable extension is a fine compromise

ASAP? If R2 is in 2026, you won't get to buy R3 until '27 earliest, if Rivian is around that long anyway.
@@leok7193 I think it depends on delays down in GA. They mentioned the R2 is being built in Normal, where they already build the R1S and R1T. IIRC, there was some local community pushback going on down there.
The R3 definitely got my attention! If I'm going electric, the R3 may be it.
The R3x is really amazing. It brings back the passion my generation had for Bronco and Scout but on a new level. Love Rivian style. I hope they bring back the yellow color. Oh, and a R3T would be nice too.
This was the first thing I thought when the R3X came into the light, It gives off fun vibes like the old Bronco and Scout. Maybe this will be one of the first EV's to have real soul and character to it's nature that we haven't seen before. Other than just straight line performance.

yeah they need to have that charge port rear driver side or atleast front passenger side. its weird they made everything else like design and performance great and then slip up on the most important aspect which would be ease of use when road tripping. Major fail if they dont move the charge port to the correct location.

Rivian is schooling Tesla in overall(in&out) design, including utility.
Proud Tesla owner and I ordered my R2 instantaneously. Love the R1T but it's just not realistic for me. R2 seems perfect and I can't wait!
Except for that part where the R1T is a mid size truck and the R2 is a compact SUV. Difficult to compare those.

@@chunbelievableSRK My point was not meant to be negative. But if you said something like, "The R1S is bigger than I need but the R2 is perfect" it would make more sense. That would be comparing two Rivian SUVs and much fairer comparison. Didn't mean for it to sound snarky just figured to compare apples to apples.
@@warhammerfaction Yeah maybe at best. I'd also say instead of $48k starting it will probably debut at around $55-57k with today's price runaways happening. A lot can happen between now and then. America might be 'under new management' so who knows.

2+ years is a long time to wait for the R2. If Rivian keeps selling vehicles at a $33k loss we may not see the R3 reach mass production. Seems like a premature announcement meant to calm investors and generate buzz. It's good for EVs in general though because it gives people more options. As much as I like Tesla's style, I just saw an all-black R1S today and it's one of the coolest looking cars I've seen in a while. The Cybertruck is interesting and novel, but it doesn't retain any classic styling from the past. I appreciate that about Rivian. The R3X reminds me of a Fiat 126 on steroids, retro+modern.

Based on recent experience with the R1 pricing, and Cyber truck pricing, it’s good they are using the estimate and not committing to a reserve price. The 100’s of millions that Tesla generated in CT reservations is quick capital for Rivian if they are successful in selling these concepts. I too hope they survive, the EV manufacturers are failing to inspire the masses. Fisker, is on the ropes again and countless others are not seeing the profit margins they had expected. I am a Tesla owner and truly enjoy driving it even with its shortfalls. Range is padded on the hi side, savings in fuel are eaten away by insurance and repair. The battery technology needed is on the horizon and lots of my friends are on the sidelines wondering when Evs will be better not just close to their ICE vehicle.

I've had my eye on a Rivian for a long time, but the price tag, early release bugs, and issues with the charging network have kept me from pulling the trigger. Looks like the R2 might be doable for me. Keep it coming, man!

R2 RWD base model will have a 270-mile range, you have to pay more for 300 miles.

Kind of seems that way. Very Car like on a beefier all-wheel-drive chassis. If I remember correctly, I think Dana or Spicer made the trans ale or shift on the fly or something like that set up in those.

by 2026, most V3s will be V4, and the passenger rear will be great for curbside charging and their existing Rivian Adventure Network.
Great point and that's probably a big reason why it's on the passenger rear.
The other reason RJ said is for how the current owners home charging orientation is going to allow it to work as they can back in to it without having a problem if it was on the back left to reach.@@LemironStarling

I have seen TONS of comments that are drooling over the R3x and I feel validated for thinking that would really excite people. I love Rivian's designs but could never afford them, but now that they are getting cheaper, when I need a car in the future I'll think of them. A used model y though was what I ended up getting and I love it so I'll drive that into the ground first.
The charging port location doesn't make sense. 🤦♂️ Hopefully, that will change.

Yup. I put my reservation in as soon as the event started as well. Figured they'd wait til the end of the reveal! Excited for it, but agree... wish they'd move the charge point on the R2/3 to the driver side rear to be more compatible with Tesla's superchargers. Don't want to take 2 stalls! The "one more thing" reveal was awesome! Props to Rivian for keep this under wraps until the reveal! And the R3X could be fun! Hang in there Rivian!

I actually like the charge port on the passenger side. Some communities are rolling out curb side L1/L2 charging and this is perfect for that. I agree with the current super charger network it can create issues but long term I think it is the better placement
Big mistake. The driver had to get out and walk around the car to plug in. Most ICE cars have the gas tank filler on the left for greater convenience and safety of the driver. If Rivian drivers start taking up two stalls at Tesla Superchargers there will be lots of complaints. With these cars not coming out for two or more years Rivian still has time to fix it.
For compatibility with existing superchargers, why not the front right corner? That would mean you can pull in, also, if you have a trailer attached, it's in the right spot...
That is a very good suggestion. It would solve the compatibility with Superchargers while also supporting curb side charging.

Like, why can’t manufacturers print the bar code on all surfaces of their products? Black ink is too expensive?
2-5 years for build and receipt of anything. Rivian will be a distant memory by then.
Great price and specs but a lot can happen in two years. Definitely move the charge port. And this is coming from a Tesla lover.
People should help RJ and buy rivian stock right now. In two years and can be over $200 or more.

I was thinking Tesla Y is the main serious proposal for an electric SUV/Crossover. Its refreshed redesign will make is almost perfect. But the R2 brings competition. The Rivian needs more range though, I live more north and have winter. And hopefully their CEO will remain out of politics and social media.
I was sold on the R2 then then I saw the R3 its amazing!
