BTW if you weren't already aware they have original Fraggle puppets on display at the Center For Puppetry Arts in Atlanta in their Jim Henson wing. The Hensons donated so many puppets to the Center it took them 8-10 yrs to preserve the puppets and build an entire wing to the museum. They've been opened for like 5-6 yrs now and have still only displayed like 1/8th of the collection. They rotate the puppets out at a snails pace.
I was lucky enough to wander that exhibit alone and it was the best afternoon of my life. I hope to go again someday and see new puppets rotated into the current displays. 😊

It's funny I was in the hospital a bunch as a kid, various health issues. I have so many memories of this show during those times. Feeling sick, hallucinating from fever. Can hear the music. Home from work this week because I'm sick as a dog, always remember Fraggle Rock when I am feeling this bad. Awesome deep dive, my body may feel like its being ripped apart, but damn this series can still make me smile. Especially as I rescued my own Sprocket as an adult and seeing that derpy little dog muppet is the best shit on the planet.

The terrible tunnel episode scared me so much as a kid I stopped watching the show for a little while. It was so disturbing to little me that no one even tried to help the knight Fraggle and he’s just trapped there forever.
There were a few episodes with scary or unsettling moments throughout the first season, but "The Terrible Tunnel" definitely freaked me out the most. Whether or not he died right away, Sir Blunderbrain's fate was very disturbing.

As a kid who grew up in the 70s and 80s the extent to which Jim Henson's work affected my development can't be underestimated. The amount of care, artistry, love, and thoughtfulness he and all of the many puppeteers and artists put into everything just can be felt every time. Fraggle Rock was a bit later in my age bracket, but it was always one of those shows that when I could catch it on an afternoon or evening it was always a warm and comforting embrace. Losing Jim Henson so young is honestly one of the great tragedies in terms of losing grenuinely inspiring figure in television and film.
I grew up watching this show. One of my childhood favorites. I never would've imagined their being a deep dive into the fraggle ecosystem nearly 40 years later. Please, if you haven't already, do more Muppet deep dives. 🙏

This was never a preshool show ever! This was a show for the whole family no matter the age. My parents and sister would watch this with me. Now it wasn't all the time but anytime we knew HBO was airing a new one we would gather around to watch. Great show and will love it till the end of time.
I could listen to you talk all day, idk what it is but the speed and cadence/emphasis? you speak with it just scratches a spot my brain. I really, really loved watching your deep-dive into the first season. In fact, when I saw that this video was over three hours on JUST the first season, I was thrilled. I love seeing people who can explain the things they love in such a fun way. When I talk about why I still love the show to people, I tell them that it’s one of the only shows that helps the audience work and build on their emotional intelligence. Hearing you talk about the many different ways the different worlds are connected and need each other, how the Fraggle Five can be seen as one character, and how we should try our best to understand people who are different than us proves that. You understand this show for what it stands for, and what the creators, performers and writers worked so hard to achieve. its nice to see someone give this show the amount of recondition it has deserved for a long time. this was my sisters show more then anything, and she can't communicate with words, but nothing was better then binge watching the series over and over again from the series dvd boxset, learning lessons, enjoying some of the best tunes I could find nowhere else, and listen to my dad make the request, "Wembly, get my boulder!", because we all loved the show, and its one of those rare things where the theme song hasn't been ruined for me yet, despite registering to it all my life, due to the fact that dads do not have a skip intro button. but on this video in particular, its honestly the first time in my life someone has showed such an amount of love for the show that you do, and its nice that I get a long reminder as to why the show matters, but also why it is great. also, this show was the source of all my favorite nightmares as a kid. nothing beats when they had an entire episode dedicated to an invisible monster going around, causing havoc, and you could only image what that thing was making noises. I had a strong imagination, and the show giving me a blank check to just come up with the nightmare myself was the best worst experience I was given and gave myself. 10/10, keep it up!

I just finished watching it today after listening to it on and off (you have been wonderful company to have for my own drawing sessions btw) and I really hope you go through with making a video for season 2!!! I had watched fraggle rock as a kid but my memory of the episodes and characters had all basically disappeared from my brain until I watched this! I'm not even sure what episodes I even watched but coming back as an adult, Mokey is absolutely my fav. With Gobo at second because why is my man so good at clap backs lmaooooo Out of all the episodes in season 1, Mokey's funeral stuck out to me so much because? Holy shit why did they put girlie through the ringerrrrrr! But in a way, I'm glad for it because otherwise we wouldn't have gotten Ragtime Queen and when I tell you. I literally tabbed out of my drawing program just to see what that song was and then went to TH-cam for the full one.... Raise your hand if Ragtime Queen got you unnecessarily sad and upset but also weirdly comforted in the club.
I love that you have so much fondness for this artwork. Jim Henson was the OG of puppetry of our time, a pioneer and true artist. A few years back i came across a huge Jim Henson fan who had a puppet cat they would stream on twitch with named SayHeyRocco. Rocco was performed by Maxstaar, or 'Rachel', refereed to as Rocco's mom, with help from "dad" Beateaz. i miss Rocco so much, puppets done right can be so personal. I used to like Lamb chop's Sing-along and Eureeka's Hidden Castle a lot too. Beyond that Fraggle Rock was the creative space that took the side of children. They knew adults were the silly ones, caves were fun free housing but you gotta get out and explore the world, giants arent gonna look out for you and garbage can teach you things. also, idk why these little guys build with sugar sticks but id go full cookie monster on a doozer tower given the chance. I never passed a chanced to watch 'the rock' as a kid. i feel this way about The Adventures of the Gummie Bears... i know im moving outside the realm of puppetry but that show was so great at letting writers create story beats and plot points that proved to be the first draft of what would be duplicated and remixed ideas used in tv for decades. Keep up the good work, your cheer for this art style reminds me to stay playful and love life... it reminds me of my father. Thank you.

I was also a kid when Fraggle Rock came out, but we didn't have cable, so I never watched it. I had a bad bout of anxiety in 2016 and all I could watch was one of the kids networks (I think at the time it was Noggin?) and that was my introduction to the Doozers, so every time I see them I think "Oh hey, it's the little guys that helped me feel better!" 😂 This has been so comforting as a kid that grew up on a bunch of Jim Henson's stuff. Hearing all these familiar voices that I haven't heard in 20 years is a special kind of healing. Thank you for this video, and I'm so sorry you were ever scared that nobody would watch it. It's funny I was in the hospital a bunch as a kid, various health issues. I have so many memories of this show during those times. Feeling sick, hallucinating from fever. Can hear the music. Home from work this week because I'm sick as a dog, always remember Fraggle Rock when I am feeling this bad. Awesome deep dive, my body may feel like its being ripped apart, but damn this series can still make me smile. Especially as I rescued my own Sprocket as an adult and seeing that derpy little dog muppet is the best shit on the planet.

The terrible tunnel episode scared me so much as a kid I stopped watching the show for a little while. It was so disturbing to little me that no one even tried to help the knight Fraggle and he’s just trapped there forever.
There were a few episodes with scary or unsettling moments throughout the first season, but "The Terrible Tunnel" definitely freaked me out the most. Whether or not he died right away, Sir Blunderbrain's fate was very disturbing.

As a kid who grew up in the 70s and 80s the extent to which Jim Henson's work affected my development can't be underestimated. The amount of care, artistry, love, and thoughtfulness he and all of the many puppeteers and artists put into everything just can be felt every time. Fraggle Rock was a bit later in my age bracket, but it was always one of those shows that when I could catch it on an afternoon or evening it was always a warm and comforting embrace. Losing Jim Henson so young is honestly one of the great tragedies in terms of losing grenuinely inspiring figure in television and film.
I lived Fraggle Rock as an 89s child. So happy to see this!

This was never a preshool show ever! This was a show for the whole family no matter the age. My parents and sister would watch this with me. Now it wasn't all the time but anytime we knew HBO was airing a new one we would gather around to watch. Great show and will love it till the end of time.

I really, really loved watching your deep-dive into the first season. In fact, when I saw that this video was over three hours on JUST the first season, I was thrilled. I love seeing people who can explain the things they love in such a fun way. When I talk about why I still love the show to people, I tell them that it’s one of the only shows that helps the audience work and build on their emotional intelligence. Hearing you talk about the many different ways the different worlds are connected and need each other, how the Fraggle Five can be seen as one character, and how we should try our best to understand people who are different than us proves that. You understand this show for what it stands for, and what the creators, performers and writers worked so hard to achieve. I understand it might be another year until we see you cover season two, but when it does, I’ll be here for it! Best of luck to you.

its nice to see someone give this show the amount of recondition it has deserved for a long time. this was my sisters show more then anything, and she can't communicate with words, but nothing was better then binge watching the series over and over again from the series dvd boxset, learning lessons, enjoying some of the best tunes I could find nowhere else, and listen to my dad make the request, "Wembly, get my boulder!", because we all loved the show, and its one of those rare things where the theme song hasn't been ruined for me yet, despite registering to it all my life, due to the fact that dads do not have a skip intro button.
but on this video in particular, its honestly the first time in my life someone has showed such an amount of love for the show that you do, and its nice that I get a long reminder as to why the show matters, but also why it is great.
also, this show was the source of all my favorite nightmares as a kid. nothing beats when they had an entire episode dedicated to an invisible monster going around, causing havoc, and you could only image what that thing was making noises. I had a strong imagination, and the show giving me a blank check to just come up with the nightmare myself was the best worst experience I was given and gave myself.
10/10, keep it up!

I think it's a testament to the great work of the team that created this show that I am watching someone much younger passionately recap the show I loved as a kid when it first aired! Really enjoyed the video and hope you continue! A lot of great info along with your wonderful recap! I find it hilarious too that they edited out the smoking bit from the old episode even though it was always meant to not encourage smoking.

Out of all the episodes in season 1, Mokey's funeral stuck out to me so much because? Holy shit why did they put girlie through the ringerrrrrr! But in a way, I'm glad for it because otherwise we wouldn't have gotten Ragtime Queen and when I tell you. I literally tabbed out of my drawing program just to see what that song was and then went to TH-cam for the full one.... Raise your hand if Ragtime Queen got you unnecessarily sad and upset but also weirdly comforted in the club.

I love that you have so much fondness for this artwork. Jim Henson was the OG of puppetry of our time, a pioneer and true artist. A few years back i came across a huge Jim Henson fan who had a puppet cat they would stream on twitch with named SayHeyRocco. Rocco was performed by Maxstaar, or 'Rachel', refereed to as Rocco's mom, with help from "dad" Beateaz. i miss Rocco so much, puppets done right can be so personal. I used to like Lamb chop's Sing-along and Eureeka's Hidden Castle a lot too.
Beyond that Fraggle Rock was the creative space that took the side of children. They knew adults were the silly ones, caves were fun free housing but you gotta get out and explore the world, giants arent gonna look out for you and garbage can teach you things. also, idk why these little guys build with sugar sticks but id go full cookie monster on a doozer tower given the chance. I never passed a chanced to watch 'the rock' as a kid.
i feel this way about The Adventures of the Gummie Bears... i know im moving outside the realm of puppetry but that show was so great at letting writers create story beats and plot points that proved to be the first draft of what would be duplicated and remixed ideas used in tv for decades.

as a follow up to my comment asking for an eyeliner tutorial from you i ended up just propping my laptop up and doing my eyeliner/lashes to match the best i can while watching the full thing and honestly it was really enjoyable! Fraggle rock is before my time by a few years but I loved learning about all of the different characters!
I watched the whole thing and I'm so happy you made this! I love hearing people talk about things they're really excited and passionate about. I was also a kid when Fraggle Rock came out, but we didn't have cable, so I never watched it. I had a bad bout of anxiety in 2016 and all I could watch was one of the kids networks (I think at the time it was Noggin?) and that was my introduction to the Doozers, so every time I see them I think "Oh hey, it's the little guys that helped me feel better!" 😂 This has been so comforting as a kid that grew up on a bunch of Jim Henson's stuff. Hearing all these familiar voices that I haven't heard in 20 years is a special kind of healing.
