"Do all of you really want... to win that badly...? You all want the Grail that desperately?! You'd crush the only wish I have in my heart... do none of you feel any shame at all?! I won't forgive you... I won't forgive ANY of you for this! All of you monsters who'd disregard a knight's honor for personal gain... let my blood taint your dreams! Let the Grail be cursed! Let the wish it grants bring disaster! And when you fall into the pits of hell... remember the rage of Diarmuid!"
Anna Brown Agreed. But at least he got his revenge. The Grail was already cursed, but it was revealed to be mega-cursed after Diarmuid wished for it to be so. He also didn’t get consumed by the tainted Grail so, really, he fared better than many other servants in that respect.
You probably dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
"Feel freedom, feel joy, feel love and life. Fly and feel the freedom in your fingertips; one that I cannot attain, one that I can never experience. For my wings were long broken, my joy long lost together with my love. Life was the only thing I had, and that too was stolen, pilfered by someone whom I granted my trust. And now I am once again given being, only to suffer the same things once more. So with my dying breath, I hold onto these two roses, upholding a knight's honor in my passing."
This really feels like something Diarmuid would say if he were to ever be a berserker or alter. Put it in a fate story for him and it’ll be perfection.
"Years later, Diarmuid is mortally injured when a giant boar gores him on the heath of Benn Ghulbain. Because Fionn, who invited him on the hunt, did not let Diarmuid drink the water from his hands, which had the power to heal, Diarmuid dies. " The point is, ZLancer gets screwed over twice when he didn't have to die either time.
Four times, as his FGO Lancer version is a jack of all trades that makes him virtually useless, and his Saber version is pretty good, but few people use him.
you weren't really supposed to like Kiritsugu. He wasn't a hero. He was a protagonist, and the distinction that the two are not one and the same is very important.
Luck Parameter in fate Franchise refers to a Servant's ability to change fate. Cu Chulainn - was prophesized to life glorious but ultimately short life. Hence E ranked Luck. Diarmuid - was cursed when he was young to be killed by a boar. Another E ranked luck.
+Kevin Yonathan Well in mythology a blessing and curse are often the same depending on how you look at it. King Midas was blessed by Dionysus with the Touch of Gold. But it end up sucks for him. Also I was talking about how he was cursed to be killed by a boar, not about the love spot.
fbiuzz Well I guess at least his luck should be B at the least. I mean sure being a hero killed by a boar would suck and a bit embarrassing. But the fact that he was blessed with the means to fuck every female with their full consent should be taken into account.
+Kevin Yonathan Not really. Since the reason he died was BECAUSE of the love spot. The King who he served, Finn McCool. Had magic healing hands that turns any water he touches into instant healing water. But he was jealous since Diarmuid NTR his wife and "accidentily" let the water slipped from his hands even when Diarmuid beg for help. (also Finn hunted Diarmuid down for over 10 years because of it). Also that King was the person who trick Diarmuid to go on the hunting trip in the first place.
+Kevin Yonathan Mixed blessing. Women fall in love with him, but do so obsessively which is how he died. A woman obsessed with him, he relented, and her husband(who was a king) had them both brutally killed
Cú Chulainn was a Hero, he defended his vulnerable kingdom singlehandedly against an Invading Army while the citizens were under a sleeping curse. Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, was Cursed with a seducing love spot, but he was still a Knight and a Hero who refused to fight his own kin even as they were hunting him. The Lancers Tales are always a Great, and a Good Read :)
But he didn’t, his wish was to be able to uninhibited, serve his master loyally and fight a proud and noble battle, the almost exact opposite happened when he died. Not getting to finish his noble battle, betrayed and forced to kill himself by the master he swore to serve. So he died cursing everyone around him and the wish the grail would grant, saying “may the wish it grants bring disaster!” It’s really sad and one of the reasons I have a 4 star grailed Diarmuid saber in my Chaldea
I really like spears as a weapons, and I like how Lancers fight, so.... imagine my disappointment when Fate Extra gave you all Knight classes to choose from... except for Lancer. I WANT TO HAVE A LANCER DAMMIT!!!
FarelForever I am actually a huge fan of archers. But "Archer" rarely even uses his bow (I won't even start talking about Gil here), which annoys me. As for Fate/Extra, I would have been way more happy with Robin Hood as my personal servant, but nooo, I have to KILL him Dx
I find it quite confusing that Saber was my favorite servant, because considering whom she is...... ugh! Oh well, maybe someday I'll get to play as Lancer....... well, Lancer was supposedly temporarily playable in CCC
Suppose Cu had it pretty rough, too (sharing the same stat, natch), but it doesn't really compare to the way Diarmuid was utterly humiliated and thoroughly betrayed. Then again, that was the Fate of most people in /Zero.
While I felt that Lancer's death was terribly tragic... It was also in a way kinda badass. He dies while basically saying to everyone around him "Fuck you, and Fuck this war"
Well, my personal opinion is that: 1. FSN Lancer is stronger than FZ Lancer 2. I like FZ Lancer more anyway - he might be weaker, but I don't really care 3. However, FSN Lancer is also awesome, there's no denying it, and I like him quite a lot too 4. Most importantly, THIS MUSIC IS UNDENIABLY AWESOME

Laaaaancerrrrrrrr!!!!! >O< *Cries* His death was sooo tragic!! All he wanted to do was fight Saber fairly! And when he was alive... I read this, but this was how Diarmuid died: A boar severly wounded him during a hunting trip and Fionn refused to heal him due to his jealousy of Diarmuid taking Grainne from him. And, eventually, Diarmuid died from his wounds. :(
Woops, missed a part of that last post. "The shocked Servant realizes that he has been fatally betrayed by his current Master, just as his former master Fionn caused his death during his first lifetime. Enraged, Lancer dies cursing the Holy Grail, Saber, Kiritsugu, and the world at large for his fate. "
This... This song... It makes me want to whip up my pen and write something.... Listening to this... It makes me feel so sad... So.. So empty, especially at the first few seconds... That piano cover... AUGH.. So beautiful...
He has three deaths. One, he gets killed off-screen by the big bad. The third has him get killed ON-SCREEN by some new thing that wasn't in the rest of the story, to show how strong it is. The 2nd one has him die by being forced to kill himself, yet is arguably the most badass of his deaths.
You know guys it all depends on perspective. And kudos to Nasu for creating story routes that really flesh out these clashing viewpoints. When I was a kid (being raised as a christian) I've often been told that being selfless is a good and noble thing. But as I grew up I came to know that a lot of the things I got to learn in Sunday school just wouldn't cut it in real life. Would it be better to accept the reality of life as it is? I can't help but feel a little sad for some reason.
@Zekeriel That seems to be a major flaw with Diarmuid. But to me, it seems as if Sola-Ui bound him into a similar situation as Grainne did (her Grail speech acting like a geis) and considering how Diarmuid couldn't break a geis (be cursed if you do), he probably reacted the same way here. The pattern is extremely similar but he just doesn't know how to see the forest - just the trees.
I must say I also enjoyed that exchange of comments. I even got to learn about some figures I didn't know of before. I have to admit that after I intruduced myself to this series, I also started making hero lists. I guess it's a symptom of the disease.
Indeed! I've deffinitly learned a hell of alot of Folklore & Stories from hitting up the background of all of these Heroic Spirits, I think this Series has one of the greatest Ideas ever! As for "Seeing them in another Light" I can only agree, it just goes to prove that on all sides of battle, everyone has their own good intentions but are just disagreed with or misunderstood :v
The Irish were more fond of lances than other cultures, that's why. Another Irish Lancer would be Celtchar mac Uthechar with Lúin Celtchair, a powerful flaming lance. Technically Saber could be a lancer- King Arthur had a lance called "Rhongomyniad", or just "Ron", similar to Lúin Celtchair only holy in nature I believe.
Even so I still say Shirou in HF had the best perspective. Something are more important than a 'dream' and the fact that he dropped everything for sakura was pretty cool. I also feel that Kiritsugu would be most happy for HF Shirou
if you look up Cu Chulainn, you kinda get the picture of why every lancer in the series dies/suffers/etc. Seeing as how every lancer seems to be Cu Chulainn.
@SeintMyon Anime by UFOTable incoming this year, Beast's Lair has PDF booklet format of the unofficial that you can put on your shelf if you put work in to binding it properly.
Yeah, that is true... I guess sometimes the best solution is always the most simple! :D There are a lot of Servants out there that no one would ever think of having, aren't there? But, then again, that's what makes the series so interesting! That's why I like it so much. You learn about the local folktales of other countries and see them in a different light... It's incredible, isn't it? :D
They're always awesome and Irish, eh? Still looking up on his past (yeah I know wiki is cheap but... I can't go that far into Irish mythology), but still... that totally sucks. Why is it that the cool characters of any series always get killed? And they're too epic too... *sigh* The power of geis makes everyone lonely doesn't it? (You may now it as geass to some if you watched THAT lol ^^)
Oh, by the way... ...5 people couldn't appreciate how truly sad this song is and how tragic Lancer's life was. Those who dislike Lancer or this song MAKE ME SICK. T_T May the Grail curse them.
Recognizing faces and remembering everything is are different matters. Memory is a tricky business that isn't always so simple to understand. I have no doubt he recognized Rin and Saber but it likely took a while for him to fully recount why, and everything that had happened afterwards. He knew in all the routes at some point, UBW was likely the soonest when he found out since he wasn't injured and was able to participate more rather than sit and heal in Rins house for several days.
Not a fan of most of the soundtrack, but this is such an awesome song. When you put that image and it together it all just seems so desperate, like the flame of a man about to go out.
@thethessaliah A large part about Fate/Stay Night addresses why those ideals are still naive, though. Holding onto them is what causes him so much conflict between Fate, UBW, and Heaven's Feel as he comes to realize that they're at odds with reality at large. Hell, at worst they also hurt his loved ones as a result, just like Kiritsugu.
@Zekeriel Well, Heroic Spirit EMIYA, or shirou even wouldn't have come about in the first place if he hadn't been saved from the fire and "inherited" Kiritsugu's broken ideals. I realize all the heroic spirits never got a wish but, Kirei was able to grant his wish. All I was trying to say is Lancer's curse did sort of work because Kirei ended up burning down half of Fuyuki city. But it wasn't like no one was in possession of the Grail. Kirei did manage to make a wish through the Grail.
@Zekeriel well, that's not necessarily true, first off the Grail was tainted sometime in the 3rd Grail War. Second, Kirei said he used the Grail's power to burn a section of Fuyuki City down to the ground. Well, I agree that calamity did indeed ensure after Fuyuki City at the end of the 4th Grail War. Funny how the 4th Grail war ended up creating Heroic Spirit Emiya though.
Of all the routes, Shirou's principles were challenged the least in Fate, not to mention the least amount of "bad turns" happened that might force him to compromise with harsh realities. Between the two, Fate's Shirou is far more the dreamer than HF's, as he never truly "woke up" from his pretty dreams of heroism to begin with.
@geenius3ab If I remember correctly, Alexander wasn't that fast even with GARdius wheel. Sure, Ea has a charge time, but Gate of Babylon can cover that while he charges. Also, isn't Alexander the son of Zeus? An Enkidu can chain him up if he has some divinity and kill him. It would still go the same way as it did.
Archer had amnesia for about half of each path due to Rin's incomplete summoning. Aside from that he was summoned into the only time where he would be tempted to not follow the Grail war and instead embark on his own mission. Caster doesn't need a master since shes a magus and can replemish her own magical energy without help. Fake Assassin was mostly screwed because he was bound to the gate. Hercules was ok, since as Berserker his NP was God Hand and the bonus stats really powered him up.
Truer words have never been spoken. Speaking of which, if you were actually in the Holy Grail War, what would your wish be? ...As for me... I'm not that sure. I doubt I would even get that far in the war anyway... I could never stand hurting someone, let alone KILLING them.
(cont) in Fate and UBW, Shirou always fought the "Bad guy" he never had to face the girl who always love him unconditionally(Ilya doesn't count) or a former ally(Archer doesn't count) and a man that resembles himself so much that is hard for him to say "Your wrong"(again, Archer does NOT count). To me yes what HF did was wrong to many people, but they were dead,AFTER he had the information to act. Which promoted the removal of the shroud. Which killed Fate and UBW Shirou, for Sakura(happiness).
Yeah. I've got most of the characters down... Most of 'em are familiar, like Shiro, Archer, Rin... ect. But there are some new ones, too. I'll post a video or something as soon as I can. Will that help?
Fate/Zero Anime has been confirmed last year, and it shall be made by Ufotable, the studio which animated the Kara no Kyoukai movies. Let us rejoice, for our wish has finally been granted!!!
I kinda wish he did a cu and was able to live a little longer then while that happens you here this ost in the background I can just imagine him bleeding out while trying to kill kiritsugu
@Zekeriel oh i didnt mean it in the romantic sense either. i just meant to say that diarmud likes her as a friend and rival a lot because she is unaffected by his love spot, thus is the only woman who can ever be real friends with him; actauuly, sicne all other women will love him and most other men will be jealous no matter what he does, saber is the only oen who can be a real FRIEND for diarmud. thats what i meant. but even that relationship was flawed from the beginning cuz they had to kill
True, he wanted to serve his Lord without failure or Betrayal, thus, getting the Grail would be his Overall Wish... Atleast that's what I made it out to be from just watching the Anime, but who's to say if that is the case, people have more than what meets the Eye under their face, even if they are Innocent of Heart like Diarmuid...
Well Nasu did say that in all the routes Shirou of the Fate route had the highest chance to become Heroic Spirit Emiya. Shirou is naive but he did try to achieve his unattainable dream till the end which i think is quite better than the Shirou in HF who had to compromise because of reality.
@Zekeriel In fact, Lancelot have a Rank C of Mad Enhancement, but, he counter that efect whit one of his skills, "Hands of eternal Mastership" that make him full capable of using all of his skills in combat, the only thing that he couldnt do was use all the power of Arondight.
I know Diarmuid can be a Saber, he had that sword named: "The Great Fury" and it's counter part: "The Small Fury" or something, dual-weilding Saber would be nice to have, and one as Loyal as Diarmuid, it would be a pretty good match against any other class. Odin is theorized to be a Half-Mortal like Gilgamesh, he would be an Insane Lancer with his Gungnir, the Lance that absorbs everything untill it turns black and unleashes it all out again upon the foe, quite the Devastator :D I like your List
Iunno, Lancer's life before the grails was pretty badass. Bein' the hound of Culann and junk, havin' sex left and right, murdering dudes left and right, sex-murdering various people up and down, all that jazz. I think tying himself to a rock with his own intestines was pretty cool too.
@Zekeriel true, F/Z is mroe mature an dmroe dark than F/SN, though as for shirou, he DOES get the power to uphold them in UBW, and he flat out rejects the borrowed ideals and resolves to live for his own cause and reason in heavens feel. its kidn of interestign how he progresses from a broken and powerless person in Fate, to a broken but powerful human in UBW, to a powerful actual proper Person in HF.
"Do all of you really want... to win that badly...? You all want the Grail that desperately?! You'd crush the only wish I have in my heart... do none of you feel any shame at all?! He deserved so much better honestly. I’m still pissed about them killing him off
Anna Brown Agreed. But at least he got his revenge. The Grail was already cursed, but it was revealed to be mega-cursed after Diarmuid wished for it to be so. He also didn’t get consumed by the tainted Grail so, really, he fared better than many other servants in that respect.
I swear, after rewatching that scene so many times, I think Diarmuid should be a Berserker in FGO. Just saying...
@@Leroset it is both sad and hilarious sad for obvious reasons but hilarious because he was pretty much spot on about the grail

MrDibara If you had some reading comprehension you would notice he didn't mean that.
Don’t worry, he is happy. In my Chaldea with saber version being grailed to 100 and bond level 10, and lancer version being grailed to 90
"Today's Menu for the Emiya Family" anime is the reality Lancer won the grail. IMO.
He was one of the most awesome characters in Zero. My jaw literally dropped when he died.
Welcome to the Nasuverse, the land of unhappy people.
Hey.That's not... Okay its true.
More like Urobuchi city, Nasuverse.
itsacharcoalice no more like damned Nasuverse, Urobuchi is a secondary who merely worked with Nasu
random90909494085038 Archer and Saber agree
One Bell And BOTH Lancers. There's a reason "Being Lancer is suffering" is a meme.
Crimson Hybrid Did you make that yourself? If so then that was incredibly well written
This really feels like something Diarmuid would say if he were to ever be a berserker or alter. Put it in a fate story for him and it’ll be perfection.
Kirei:"The holy grail has finally appeared, now the dreams of you both can be granted"
Saber & Shirou:"Please...give us our money back"
Yo, but let's keep our noble steed tho
"Years later, Diarmuid is mortally injured when a giant boar gores him on the heath of Benn Ghulbain. Because Fionn, who invited him on the hunt, did not let Diarmuid drink the water from his hands, which had the power to heal, Diarmuid dies. "

Lancer had arguably one of the most tragic and undeserved deaths of any anime character I have ever seen
You should read UBW. There's somebody else who gets it pretty bad there.
It comes with the territory. If you are a member of the Lancer class, you are automatically guaranteed to get shafted horribly in some way or another.

May the Grail curse them.
Ooh, nice! That's a good list. :D
Oh, wow, no kidding?! Thanks! Yours is pretty cool, too! :D
And thanks for not laughing at me.
Yeah argee with you wholeheartly we really need a post Fate stuff tat link to Last Episode
Thanks! :D
Whole thing! Epic hilarity with epic heroes and vampires!
No problem! :D
Thanks for hearing me out!
For that, I'll subscribe to you. :)
Being Lancer is suffering.
Song dedicated to him that everything had been denied.
well, he died cursing everything, even Saber, his first rival in the war
The person who disliked this is Lord Archibald El-Melloi, who still remains jealous of the most honoured Knight of the Fianna.
@LesEnfants1972
Actually no saber in Zero had an lower luck and stat ranking since she wasn't compatible with her master.
Karl Franz von es sie nicht an That's sad.
Not a fan of most of the soundtrack, but this is such an awesome song. When you put that image and it together it all just seems so desperate, like the flame of a man about to go out.
Gil wasn't trying to go out in a blaze of glory, he was trying to pull himself back out of the void. No cool points for him.
alright thank you very much :D
they have 3 or 4 done on bakatsuki, you know. And a team(forgot who, not mirror moon) has started a translation for hollow ataraxia.
People may find this "Off-Topic" but here goes.
Fighting Ornstein the Dragonslayer from Dark Souls to this is Awesome :3
@thethessaliah A large part about Fate/Stay Night addresses why those ideals are still naive, though. Holding onto them is what causes him so much conflict between Fate, UBW, and Heaven's Feel as he comes to realize that they're at odds with reality at large. Hell, at worst they also hurt his loved ones as a result, just like Kiritsugu.
Oh Lancer... oh, how you deserved better than what you got.
I like how someone from Antarctica was watching this video.
Kirei did manage to make a wish through the Grail.
yay, someone who's seen Carnival Phantasm...at least the first episode.
I Just Got Lancer's Legendary Skin In ABA And That Theme Actually Claps
I feel the rising urge to yell EMIYAAAAAAAAAAA KIRITSUGUUUUUUUUUUUUU when listening to this song
Funny how the 4th Grail war ended up creating Heroic Spirit Emiya though.
... that was a sudden change in speed.
@Whit3Lighter Nope, it's slated to begin in october unfortunatly, sucks to be us who want to see it so badly huh?
Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaah!!! XD
Let's do our best, partner!!! X3
That's a tough one.
I wouldn't know really, since most wishes I can think of could be misinterpreted and/or corrupted.
Hmm... Kind of like a wish for the world to be a better place for all eternity?
That's not half-bad! :D
Diarmuid, he fight to the very end, but die by a Comand Spell....
Yes. Being Lancer is suffering
Cu has it in his LEGENDS. Diarmund didn't
Diarmuid doesn't have Battle Coninuation A skill
@Zekeriel oh i didnt mean it in the romantic sense either. i just meant to say that diarmud likes her as a friend and rival a lot because she is unaffected by his love spot, thus is the only woman who can ever be real friends with him; actauuly, sicne all other women will love him and most other men will be jealous no matter what he does, saber is the only oen who can be a real FRIEND for diarmud. thats what i meant. but even that relationship was flawed from the beginning cuz they had to kill
being lancer is suffering
@BloodSportA2 Well, at least Shirou isn't doomed by those ideals... except in the timeline he became Archer and all those dead/bad ends.
For both of them being Irish lancers in zero and stay night have terrible luck
I know Diarmuid can be a Saber, he had that sword named: "The Great Fury" and it's counter part: "The Small Fury" or something, dual-weilding Saber would be nice to have, and one as Loyal as Diarmuid, it would be a pretty good match against any other class.
Odin is theorized to be a Half-Mortal like Gilgamesh, he would be an Insane Lancer with his Gungnir, the Lance that absorbs everything untill it turns black and unleashes it all out again upon the foe, quite the Devastator :D
I like your List
@geenius3ab It was the fourth. Ea would still plow through GARdius Wheel, though, so I don't think it would have made much of a difference.
the 3 Knight-type servants are Saber, Lancer, & ARCHER
