Elle hated her, Verena (Vivica's Char) wanted to be named Black Mamba too and felt a bit of jealousy there, O-Ren had respect for her, Budd kinda had a bit of hate for her for her breaking Bill's heart and taking his niece/Bill's Daughter from them but agreed what they did at her wedding was too far so it was more Respect/Grudge with Budd. Personally? I say O-Ren and Budd were the only chill ones that had respect and respect to Beatrix but knew they were dead when she came back.
Killer theme for a great fight between two former friends. I always get the feeling that both of them were pretty sad by the turn of events that forced them to become enemies. A graphic novel about early days of the Deadly Viper squad would be pretty interesting.

Still the way they reacted to each-other in my opinion was far more respectful then the encounters with the other 3 Deadly Vipers. Of course this is just my opinion since we don’t know either way, but I believe they were more than just colleagues.

I think it was more of an indication of O-Rens heritage and tradition, it played out like a samurai showdown. Compare it with the fight scene with Elle in the trailer, she was a dirty fighter. O-Ren had honour, even though she underestimated her opponent.
