Update:my new Garmin unit required me to use Active Captain maybe because I downloaded the app on my phone. The Update Software icon did not show when I loaded the card, required that I create an Active Captain card as only option. It worked easily enough that way.
Thanks for the great video! I've tried to do updates via the active captain and it was a nightmare! Your walk through, although was probably too elementary for your younger viewers, was just what an old fart like me needed....again, thanks so very much!
Thank you sir, I'm glad you found it helpful! I'll answer your question about the 2D settings on my graph next week. I'm on vacation with my family this week in the Black Hills. Tight lines!
You almost cracked a smile at the end...BTW, I slowed the playback speed to .75 and used a voice to text app on my phone for the particulars. I'll adjust the scale and print it out for reference.
This is a great informative video, I’m not real computer savvy but I think I can do this with all this great information. Thank you for your time and great information
I believe you can. Garmin does have different versions out for the Ultra vs Ultra2 models, so if your models are the same I would suspect you can. Check Garmins website though before taking my word for it.
This was very helpful. I've tried and got stuck with the Active Captain app so will download this on the computer and try to load it into my 2-12" MFD's and the 9" which are all new but have different software versions which the seller, installer and 2 troubleshooter firms have overlooked. I have another issue, I am not able to get the depth shading to 'stick'. I go through all the steps to assign colors to depths but they don't transfer or show up on the 2 gps screens, i use the cruising not the fishing map. Any ideas please. I ocean fish...using Canadian chart 3441 which has some rocks that come up in a hurry especially if you are in any kind of current which pushes you out of position if not paying attention. Thanks
I’m new to garmin 73sv and have livescope also. In your video you went into livescope simulator. Can we do this with transducer out of water, and do we have to have black box turned on when we do it?
Simulator mode doesn't require transducer's being connected or turned on. It simulates the transducer(s). You can turn your transducers on out of water for short durations, but Garmin recommends not leaving them on for any extended period of time out of water, as that can damage high-power transducers (1kw and higher transducers). High-powered transducers use water to keep them cool.
Very good video with clear easy to follow instructions which helped me out. Just curious when the new update comes out do you keep the current version on a separate card incase the most recent update crashes you can revert back to the current one? That is what I was thinking about doing.
Thank you, I appreciate it! I would recommend waiting a month or so after Garmin (or any software for that matter) releases an update before updating, just incase there are bugs to allow time for them to fix issues.
Thanks If I don’t get the option to Update Soft. I must not have the newest version added to the card? I looked at the SD Card and it showed the latest version 27.0v If that is true. Why can’t I get the Update Software window? Thanks
@@OutdoorQuests I did a test check in properties and said it was defective. It was a lower quality card. So bought a new different brand 32g Class 10 and added the newest software version See if that works. I often wonder if a micro card if inserted mistakenly in another brand of sonar if that could damage the card?
Can I used the same card that is in the device now. Or do i need a new card? Old card has files from 2022, and one from 2017. What i am asking is will format the old card that is currently in device and putting new update on it work
I just installed a new 93SV and livescope. I cannot get the Active Captain App to download the software for the livescope. Is downloading from a computer to an SD card the best way to do that?
I think either method works good, but if you're having an issue getting active captain to work downloading the latest update, this method will definitely work. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it! -Cody
If you followed the video instructions, and it's not working, here's the step-by-step instructions on Garmin's website. Hope this helps. Maybe format the memory card, then load the Garmin files back onto the card, and try again. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it. www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4749
A very clear and concise description of how to do this update. Best video I have seen on this!!!

Thank you!

Would you show how to do software update from I phone to Garmin 93 sv ? Thank you
Sorry, I don't have an iPhone.
After i insert sd card into until the promped screen comes up but does not have the option to select software update. Any ideas?
I am buying a 106 SV next week . Can I use the card I updated the 126SV to update the new one ?
I believe you can. Garmin does have different versions out for the Ultra vs Ultra2 models, so if your models are the same I would suspect you can. Check Garmins website though before taking my word for it.
Do you restore the default before update software?

Great vid. Easy to follow 👍 do you need to turn on your livescope before updating?
Thank you. Yes, if you have livescope, power on your GLS10 and it'll update when you update your chart plotter.

Is it possible these Micro SD card go bad? Have a 32G Adapter Card. Thanks
It's possible, but they don't go bad very often. You can also contact garmin support if you're having issues.

Is there any need to have your transducer connected when doing the software update?
Not the transducer, but if you have livescope, you'd need the gls-10 (aka black box) on in order to update it.

Yes, you can format and use your current card. Just know when you format the card, it'll erase everything that's already on the card.

It’s taking my laptop a long time to download is that normal?
Shouldn't take long, but that depends on your internet bandwidth.
guessing Garmin still has yet to use Apple laptops for downloading ?
Garmin states the download is PC or Mac compatible on the website.
Put SD card in no screen popped up. Didn't recognize card. Now what
If you followed the video instructions, and it's not working, here's the step-by-step instructions on Garmin's website. Hope this helps. Make sure card isn't too high of gig
