Thanks Alex!! I just bought a panoptics 22 and was having trouble cleaning the screen up! I’ll use your settings and I’m sure it will be much better! Thanks Again!
Thank you, I've had my livescope for a year now and have struggled with settings to get it to help me find and stay on schools of fish. Can't wait to try some of these out.
Very helpfull! I did it at the same time on my gpsmap 943 xsv and it worked just great! That's one of the best videos that l've seen that explains the right settings in order to have the best image possible for my machine! Thank you!
Been using this setting for 2 season now its the best for ice fishing especially the blue screen...amber color is good but the blue color every thing shows up more easily to read...
Couple things in this video I am going to try. Appreciate all the help lots of settings mine is not clear using it on lake Seminole so much stuff in the water it's hard to pick out fish.
Great video I just got the livescope LVS 34 took it out a couple times but still didn't quite understand how to get the best out of it but you just made everything Crystal Clear thank you
It depends on the bottom composition more than anything, but turning your gain down to only as high as it is needed can usually clean up a lot of the extra junk on the bottom
I've watched a ton of these videos since buying a livescope last year. This is the most clear and concise explanation I have seen. Have you changed any of your settings since "auto ghost reject" and "color limit" were added?
THANK YOU! I'm not a fan of the color limit, but need to play around with it a bit more to gain a full perspective on it. If I do end up using it I imagine it will be on very low settings. Auto ghost reject I turn on and let it do it's thing, I've noticed a slight difference with it on, but nothing major
No it’s very straightforward and easy to do and I would say it is necessary. Especially if you wanna use your livescope to its full potential. It allows you to make a waypoint when you see something far away in forward mode. It’s very useful especially if you need to pack some stuff up and walk a pretty long distance.
Thanks man i just bought panoptix. I was trying today use it from shore with 2m stick with livescope on it on my closeby pond but it wasnt showing almoust nothing because of flowers in water close to shore.
Yes, it is hard to use from shore for sure. Keep it as close to the surface of the water as you can so it has as much depth as possible. If you have a lot of weeds or flowers, see if you can't rig up some type of board or float with the long cable you can float out a little ways past it
@@AlexTimm yes I have a Helix 7. A friend of mine has the Garmin 93. We used it last year at Saginaw bay. I was sold right then. I can't believe how awesome the graphics are. I'll have one next year.
What position do you have your transducer in on this video? I have LSV 32, with a Garmin Echomap 93SV. I trolled down the lake with trolling motor at a good rate of speed with pole and transducer in the water. Now my unit is stuck in perspective mode? (0 in middle of screen and depth symbol went away) I want to get my depth gauge reading back. Any help would be appreciated on how to change it back. TIA
This is in down view and my transducer is pointed straight down. If trolling, I would recommend using forward view so you can point and see around / in front of you rather than just below you. To get the view back, when on the LiveScope screen, click MENU > Sonar Setup > Installation > Orientation and choose forward mode
Ultra 106 last year's model vs. GPSMap 943svx vs. Echomap UHD2 93sv....If you could only choose one for livescope on ice and boat, which would it be? The screen and processor on my 106 is pretty keen but it's bulky, sucky in bright sun, and can't record.
That's a tough one because it really would depend on how you weigh what is most important to you out of your list. If you want it for ice & boat, the 10" Ultra would of course be the best given the extra screen size, and while it is big, not too big for ice. If recording is most important, gotta go with the GPSMAP. If you want the best screen for in the sun (get a sun visor ☺ ), but the UHD2 93sv out of the 3 will have the slight edge for brightness and visibility in the sun. Given a sun visor can help all of them in the sun, I would say probably between the GPSMAP or the Ultra, depending on if you prefer clean recording through ActiveCaptain vs using a go-pro recording it, or the bigger & better screen
I use an Amped Outdoors 48ah NMC battery and on full brightness with the livescope I get just over 17 hours of non stop use out of it before it dies. Amped Outdoors NMC batteries are the real deal
Great video, lots og good info, thanx for sharing. Can you tell me why there is a 12” void on my screen? Meaning when my lure is resting on botttom and i slowly lift my lure,it will take 12” before the Garmin 95 showes my lure?
Not good! I'm guessing you are in forward view. Sounds like you need to adjust the installation depth. Go to your settings, installation, sonar setup, installation depth and set it to how far in the water the transducer really is in feet. That should fix it
Both! If ice fishing, forward for scouting, but then once I start fishing, down mode for sure. Open water I like forward mode a lot more unless I am vertical jigging or fishing deep water
@@GreenMeanie101 yea I no longer have that issue after resetting and performing Jason Young’s settings and adjusting. I posted it in Garmin Livescope Addicts about it.

At a high level yes, in terms of gain and screen placement / zoom. But it is catered to the LVS32. I no longer have a PS22 so can't make a video specific to that transducer unfortunately
Most of the time I leave color limit at 0 and don't touch it. If there is a ton of matter or bugs in the water it can be useful to turn it up slightly to remove all the clutter but that is about all I've found it useful for
I have done the update, working on that video to be released in the next week or so. In terms of settings, I have not had to change much at all. I LOVE the new layout though on the GPSMAP units. As for the notable addition of the color limit, I need to play more with it, but one note, it is only useful if using on a black background screen (like Amber, or the newer neon colors), since I primarily use the blue scheme, it doesn't work well. I'll do a video on it in a few weeks once I've had more time with it. 👍
This was specifically on the LVS32, but should work the same on the LVS34. You might notice the gain can be lower on the LVS34. I will likely be doing another video on the LVS34 settings coming up
Really great info Alex.. I just bought the LVS34 and the 93sv. Do you calibrate your unit on every trip or is that just a one time setup? What would you recommend that I do to calibrate my unit since I don't have a boat and this is just for ice fishing? Hop in my car?
Awesome! I calibrate only when it needs it (calibration stays for only 1 mode, example if calibrated for forward it won't be for perspective, you will need to calibrate if you want it done to use in perspective mode. And since the units can only keep 1 calibration at a time, if you switch back and want it calibrated you will need to redo it for forward). I would calibrate it in the mode you use most frequently. As for how to calibrate for ice fishing, just go outside and with a steady hand turn the transducer in complete circles slowly and it should calibrate
Great video. I do not have a Livescope yet., however thinking of picking one up soon. I have heard mixed things about how effective it is in deeper water. I fish a lot of lake trout in 80’ to 120’. Any thoughts how this would work? I have heard picking up your lure in deep water is an issue
Deepest I've fished recently with it is 100' and it worked well, of course it all depends how large your bait is too, if you have a tiny little tungsten jig on you are going to run into issues past 45ft, anything bigger should be no problem, otherwise turn the gain up a little bit. They are rated to 200 ft even though I've never pushed it that far
Great question, I actually made a video on exactly that 👍 Check it out and let me know of any other questions: th-cam.com/video/nYFJyKRGhr8/w-d-xo.html
New to Livescope I’m jw how do you mess with these settings. Some ppl say it’s bad for the ducer to have it on and not in the water some ppl say it does not matter. I’m using mine strictly for ice fishing.
It's better to have it in the water when you mess with the settings so you can adjust it to the water you are fishing in. But no, it will not hurt the transducer to play around with it powered on out of the water. If the transducer gets too hot, it will tell you on the screen it is too hot and will turn itself off to prevent from damaging itself
