Great perspective, and the exact reason why I carry the P30SK LEM. In case you missed it (since you’re looking for an optic), about 2 days ago Langdon Tactical LTT announced big news…he’s now offering models with trigger jobs and an optics mount on the P30 and P30L (and just custom trigger and sights for the SK). Search P30 LTT and you’ll see their announcement vid. Enjoy.
Thank you. yes, I saw that new offering. I am fortunate to live near Wright Armory and LTT and have trained with Ernest two years ago. I think what he is doing with the P30 series as well as greygun guys will give these pistols a come back. the LEM trigger is in my humble opinion the best marriage of hammer and striker technology. I have another video of my completed project with the P30L that will post either tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm really happy with this pistol.
@mma709 generally speaking yes. And many guns without external hammers and strikers are also. My comment was about the ability to block trigger movement by blocking the hammer movement. You could do the same with many revolvers and glocks of they have an SCD device installed
The LEM hammer (as you say the striker analogue) is pre-loaded by the initial slide movement resulting in a lighter than true double action only, making it much smoother. Smith and Wesson had the same thing with their double action only models (which I really liked) and so did SIG Sauer with their DAK. Only the LEM has remained popular as I hear nothing about the SIG DAK and the metal frame Smiths are all extinct.
I honestly had no idea S&W and Sig had similar mechanisms at some point, i appreciatethe insight. Sadly they are no longer available, although S&W is bringing back a metal frame pistol. The M&P 2.0 is coming back in full metal (aluminum frame, steel slide). I'm hoping to get one to do a review. Hopefully feels good like the CZ metal versions. I do miss a metal-made heavy pistol in the world of plastics
GUILTY! I’ve been lusting after P30 LEM 9mm Would love to find a range rental in Alabama Georgia to get some time in that. I like to shoot before I buy.
that's very smart. I wish everyone that buys a gun had some time with a rental to see if they really like it. The unfortunate thing is they're not very common.. I know.. took me a while to find someone with one that would let me try it.
Thanks for commenting. There's a 4th version.. v4.1 (they call it COMBAT DEFENSE ACTION) which is a LEM with a shorter action but heavier pull).. but its very rare. For all intentions theres 3 as you mentioned... and you can get the v3 (traditional DA/SA) with decockers and safety.
Yes. there are 2 models of the P30 series with DA/SA V3 (double action/single action) with a rear decocker and No Manual Safety. 2 models are for restrictive states that think that 10 rounds makes it safer for the public and 2 more are for standard capacity of 17 rounds in magazine. hk-usa.com/hk-models/p30/
Thx for commenting. My point was about the trigger/hammer and how it allows me to block the trigger movement while i holster and not about calibers. If i had my choice of calibers I'd pick 10mm over 40 cal... but that's almost an endless discussion
definitely the best handgun...Love that LEM Trigger
Awesome review. Thanks for showing the differences between all the hammer/safety for holstering
Thanks for your comment. If it helps you in any way, i am happy it does.
Great review. Love your breakdown!
Thank you so much. I hope it helps others.

HK P2000 V1 or V2 LEM 9mm Is a better choice.
They are virtually identical, but I prefer the ability to change the three panels in the grip in the p30. Either way they're both excellent pistols
Any external hammer guns are safe for appendix carry

@@a2ztacticalacademy I am a Beretta guy I just put my thumb on the hammer when reholster
@mma709 that's the correct way. I carried a 92fs for a long time, and that's what i did as well

Just picked up a P30 LEM for this exact reason. I’m moving away from striker fired
That was my reason as well. Get the gray guns short reset system. Its totally worth it.

P30 only has 3 versions. 1 and 2 are LEM’s, and 3 is a da/sa. 3 can come with or without safety

@@a2ztacticalacademy Great. Thanks for that.
I completely disagree. The P2000SK is the best because it comes in .40😀
