    Awesome video! Really helpful for installing the kit in my P30S.
    I, too, opted to keep the original firing pin block spring. Mostly because the spring that came with the kit is somewhere in orbit with all of the AR detents that I've launched over the years.

    Outstanding! Thanks for sharing your experience installing this kit. I saw that GrayGuns was offering these, but was not familiar with the inner workings of the P30. The cost seems a bit pricey for me, but they most likely spent many, many hours of R&D to get the exact configuration that would work reliably. Would love to do this upgrade to my P30s and USPs; in time perhaps.
    I've installed SRT kits and GrayGuns triggers in a few of my Sigs, but the HK mods seem a bit more 'involved'. Always enjoy your videos!

    I performed this job exactly as instructed here, however, the gun would no longer work in single action. When I found your follow up video, you mentioned the sear pin needs to be replaced with the longer one for this problem to be avoided. On my P30L V3, they refer to this piece as the "release catch and decocking lever". If you could just add in the part about removing the sear/release catch and decocking lever and showing how to swap you the pin in this piece with the longer Gray Guns version at approx 5:50, the video would be perfect and take all the confusion out of this fairly simple upgrade. For some, like you, the pin swap was not necessary, however, my gun would no longer work in SA without it. Thank you for your hard work on the video, it was very helpful!

    Installed the SRT in my P30. I am amazed at the difference. I was about to get rid of my p30 because of the crappy trigger. Took me looking up the sear to figure out where the pin went. Drilled a small hole in 2x4 to support the sear while driving the pin out. Went back easier then it came apart except for the trigger spring pin. Took a few times. Thanks for the video. The only decent one out there.

    Reading on forums apparently Bruce from Grayguns said you MUST install that sear roll pin in the kit as it’s a little bit longer and allows the kit to run reliably and not fuck up your firearms.

    • @gsyoung54
      @gsyoung54 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't put it in and I don't know what Bruce is talking about because it makes no f'ing difference if it's a little longer. The original works and there is nothing in a pin that is a little bit longer that will do Anything... its whole purpose is to hold the firing pin and maybe that not square cube looking thing that holds the new lighter spring in place.. Sigs are similar. Mayhe Bruce just wants to make sure we all use the roll pin because as the author of the video says.... some roll or rolled pins may loose their tension with repeated use. I haven't found that to be the case either. It's not like a crush washer on an AR or a crush washer on automotive and airplane spark plugs where you really should replace them if you took one off.

    • @ellijahsmith4445
      @ellijahsmith4445 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      gsyoung54 there is a forum post where Bruce from gray guns responded explaining why the pin is necessary for the gun. Again it’s your gun and your money so do as you will. But it took me an extra two minutes to knock out the old and install the new. Maybe it does something or nothing but why bother risking it.

    • @gsyoung54
      @gsyoung54 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ellijahsmith4445 I forget what I wrote but I did install all the parts and it works very well, especially in SA off the reset! DA pull is definately lighter but when I pull slow it's like I feel some unevenness.. Obviously we don't pull that slow on a DA first pull if you carry that way but I was curious and my name is George so go figure! 😂
      I just put another Grayguns kit in a Sig P320 carry... really helped but I think I'm a hammer fire guy... except for the almost unbelievable until you try it PPQ M2 45 trigger. I need to get a Walther 9 but I'm betting they have an excellent striker fire trigger also. Even with the Grayguns kit the 320 is no match for the PPQ M2.

      @@gsyoung54 The only thing i did not replace was the firing pin safety block spring as I didnt feel like it would make a difference in the trigger honestly. Thanks Dolphin... I just used this video to do a Grayguns SRT and lighter spring to my HK45T as I couldn't quickly find a specific video for the 45 and your parts are identical in name and same general shapes. Just shot it and it works great, especially in SA and reset mode. I may put the orginal spring back if the trigger assembly does not smooth out as it's a little stagey with the lighter spring and I don't have another HK45 to try side by side.

  • @billhoffert1670
    @billhoffert1670 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    WTF? Why wouldn't you show the WHOLE process of how this is installed!! You left out a MAJOR step in this whole process, and that is that you have to put the longer pin included in the set in the Release Catch and Decocking lever!! I followed your video to the letter about 20 f#!king times, tore it apart, put it back together, and the trigger still wouldn't engage! That's kind of the whole point of a gun, the ability to fire and all! Please update this video to include the WHOLE process.. It's an awesome video, super detailed, easy to follow, and that's why I believed in it so much... it's confusing AF when you leave out such a key component to the gun being able to properly fire!!!!

    I noticed when you were installing the hammer spring that you had the hammer in the cocked position...if possible I would suggest doing that with hammer uncocked as it might relieve some of the pressure on that spring. @@navyman8903 I dont know if it was necessary but I did so anyway because Gray guns said the new sear pin is slightly longer than factory which is necessary for the kit to function. Funny thing is, I made a similar mistake you did with the pin but instead of thinking it was a firing pin block spring I thought it was the pin for the hammer so I ended up taking the gun apart further than I had to lol. It wasnt until closer inspection that I realized the decocker also doubled as the sear. • @MrSeannicholas123
      @MrSeannicholas123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the idea behind a titanium (read lighter) firing pin is the concept of reducing lock time. The idea being that the Round will be detonated faster than with a standard firing pin. Faster meaning literally thousand of a second which is kind of moot! added to that, 98+% of shooters do not and will never shoot a rifle (much less a pistol) well enough to justify the cost and time of installing a titanium firing pin! I hope this comment was insightful in regard to your question.

The double action, while it does feel smoother and lighter is still way enough poundage that you will really want to have to shoot your gun if you carry with one in the chamber, safety off like I do... I installed this kit on my P30S 10 times and it wouldn't release the hammer after reset. It shortened the reset significantly but if it won't fire, it's worthless. I reinstalled the original control lever and it operates perfectly! Any ideas?

      Never mind, I was able install the sear pin which was included in the kit and it works fine now.

      Duane Olson Just installed on my P30SK V3 (without Safety). Absolutely love it. Reset is about 30% shorter.

      @@navyman8903 ok so before i installed the kit the way it worked was when the safety was on and i put preassure on the trigger their would be no movement of the hammer....after i installed the kit when the safety was on id apply preassure to the trigger and the hammer would travel back slightly...is that how its supposed to work? Thanks for the response i hope im not imposing.

    Someone help! I did this but (listen carefully)
    When I pull the trigger and hold it, while holding the trigger I put the safety on, then let go of trigger
    Now safety is rendered useless and will fire every time.
    Very familiar with guns too but what did I do wrong?

    Poor parts placement under the camera while removing/placing parts and off-camera work kinda defeats the purpose of the vid, does it not?

    Just read a long thread about this on P-F and realized what a train wreck you caused by misidentifying the sear pin, and refusing to install it initially. You really caused un-needed damage to the reputation of this kit.

    Do not follow these instructions without reading down several of the comments...You must install the NEW sear roll pin on the decocker... It is NOT shown on this video.
