    A USP40 was my first gun purchase. I still have it. I EDC a 40 S&W P2000. I love the P2000. I actually consider it to be a soft shooter. I find the P2000SK in 40 to be kinda harsh. I like it better with the flat magazine floor plates so I can just curl my pinkie finger under it. Using one of the larger backstraps that have cushioning may help with recoil.

    I just got one of these a few weeks ago. Got an HK45 V1 LE last winter, wanted a carry gun with the same trigger system as my big combat/duty gun, so I got a P2000SK .40 V3.
    It’s excellent. Definitely my new carry piece, extremely accurate, extremely controllable and mild-mannered recoil compared to the G27, and an easy 9+1 capacity of high-powered .40 S&W.
    Well-worth a custom holster, which will be ordered tonight.

  • @woopsnap
    @woopsnap 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The decocker placement is due to wanting full ambidexterity. If you noticed, the slide release is ambi, the mag release is ambi. The decocker being where it is was I’m guessing their best option. I suppose they could have put that decocker like the other firearm you showed but on both sides. Could possibly have costed them more. Or made it ugly.

    Thx for the SK vid. Have a P2000 V3 in. .40 (so long that the ameriglo’s I put on it have faded) and it’s a good carry gun. That said, I do think it could use a couple of things: 1. Stippling/grip tape. That texture gets slick with even a tiny bit of moisture. 2. Gray Guns has a short reset trigger package that’s worth installing. Mine has been shot enough that the trigger and reset started feeling VERY sloppy. The GG kit put it back to where it should be (~$90). Next will be the flat-faced trigger from GG…😁.

    For the last 12 yrs my duty issue was the .40 p2000 and SK. Thankfully this year we went to Glock 19/26, I do wish we had stuck with .40 tho. I too put thousands of rounds thru the HK,s never failed once even after years of exposure to sand salt water brush . I just hated the super heavy trigger.

      @@TheConcealedCarryChannel You are probably right about the grip. I have two USPs, a full-sized and a compact, both in .45 Auto, which have comfortable grips and are a pleasure to shoot. The other possibility is that the small size of the 200SK may not allow use / full use of the recoil mitigation features which I understand HK to use. In any event, I would jump at the chance to get one of these, and thanks for doing these videos.

    The P2000 SK is a hammer fire designed pistol, and the hammer will stick out and you may not be able to wear it inside the belt. Personally, I find hammer fired pistols are less likely to misfire than striker fired pistols and I know the Glock guys will disagree. I'm biased to hammer fired pistols however as an owner of a Sig 1911 Nightmare .45, Sig P226 Elite 9mm. and HK P30 9mm. I'm looking for a daily carry myself and I guess I should consider a good 9mm striker fired pistol in the near future, but I don't know which one - perhaps a Glock 43 or a Walther PDP compact. Nevertheless, the P2000 SK looks to be awesome for concealed carry for outside the belt. Thanks for the review.

    Sounds like the P2000 v2 LEM 9mm is what you need, to solve your issues, with the P2000sk. The LEM trigger takes a lot of trigger time to get used to it. Otherwise, you get all your fingers on the grip and a 3.66 inch barrel. Works for me.

  • @daffidavit
    @daffidavit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great Video. I have an HK P 2000 I bought new in 2006. It's got a slightly longer barrel and grip. Its imprint states HK/P2000 instead of P/2000. Instead of "BD" on the slide stamp it's described as "AE" which I believe means it's an earlier date.
    It even came with the "collector's" first shot bullet casing sealed in a small envelope signed by the "collector" in case the gun is sold for historical value. I probably have about 500 rounds or less through this gun since I bought it new in 2006. It fits a Glock 30 holster pretty well. I've never had one failure to load with this gun. I also own the Kimber Micro 9 and a Kimber Stainless II .45ACP along with the Glock 30 and a Sig P299 (.357/40SW). I also have a few other guns that I won't compare here. To me, the HK P2000 is the almost perfect carry gun. But due to its size, it has a visible "footprint" when worn concealed. I like to carry a Canik Elite 9 because it is more concealed and can hold 15 rounds in the mag. I used to carry the Kimber Micro 9. Although it is a beautiful piece of art, it can not be depended upon in case of an emergency. Its short sight radius requires some practice to get used to. Also, it always jams up at the outdoor range I belong to. The Kimber Stainless II .45 ACP 1911 is much more reliable and extremely accurate, but it's too large for me to carry concealed.
    I'm not a person who likes to show off my gun hanging from my side, even though I have an LTC in Texas. So I carry the Canik Elite 9mm. But if I had my choice, I'd carry the HK P2000 for safety, or my Sig P299 .357. But not the Glock 30, which I like at the range. I don't feel comfortable carrying the Glock anywhere near my nads. The DAO of the P2000 makes it a perfect gun to carry, equal to the Sig P299 .357/40. IMHO.

      AE means your gun was manufactured in 2004. BD means an HK manufactured in 2013. The system HK uses is as follows. A=0, B=1, C=2, D=3, all the way to K which stands for 9.

      Just tried my new P2000sk out at the range a couple of days back, and yep, I have the same feeling about that "pinky" extension. Interestingly enough, the CZ Rami, same problem. These companies really don't do a thorough grip test on these pinky-things. A guy on ebay provides a pinky extension for the CZ, made from an altered Pearce extension, that fits the hand like downtown. Going to see if the he might have something for the H&K. I put 300 rounds thru my H&K with all different loads and brands, not a single problem. BTW... I had the gun in my hand about 20 times b4 I even noticed the decocker! I also bought 2 of the standard USP 10 rounders (I'm in California) with the X-grips which help as well. Additionally, shoot only 180 grain ammo as 165 grain produces great recoil vs. the punch from the 180 grain. I'm now curious to test some of the not-so-available 200 grain (Grizzly makes them) out of this little beast. Best defensive ammo so far has been Gold Dot and Federal LE 180 grain. Superior grouping with these rounds. The heavier grain is key. These little (or big) adjustments have made a big difference in the shoot-ability of this gun.

    Love how easy the disassembly is, I’ve personally got small to medium man hands and have the perfect fit for the gun. Sorry that’s not the same for you. I personally got the 9mm version and don’t feel it’s all too snappy but that’s probably just because of the smaller cartridge, great review either way!

      Yes. The P2000sk is also a great pistol. I’m not a fan of the rear de-cocker, so the LEM variant is a thumbs up in my opinion.

    What are you talking about dude? Its very accurate, not snappy at all. It’s no different than shooting a 9mm. One draw back is the small magazine but you can use full size p2000/Compact USP magazines with an X grip adapter..I have one on my hip. I use it as EDC and around the house. It is Awesome. I have the LEM a trigger on mine

    LOL....OK, now I'm writing an addendum to the below post. I watched this video on the 2000sk and then happenstanced upon a video you did a year earlier (2 years ago) on the USP Compact 9mm. I'm leaving the original post below in place because I took the trouble to generate it. BTW....that video from 2 years ago was excellent as well. Thanks for the info on both great guns. More than ever now leaning toward the USP Compact in .45. Merry Christmas!
    Sincerely....excellent presentation. I've compared (online only via photos and spec descriptions) the 2000sk .40 cal and the USP Compact .45. Can't compare in a LGS because they're always out of stock of the USP compacts. I'm leaning toward the latter because of 1.) the decocker location if I choose DA/SA version, 2.) the safety only and bobbed hammer if DAO, 3.) the somewhat longer grip, and 4.) the two added rounds in the magazine compared to my Glock 43. Curious as to why you don't prefer the USP-C .40 caliber because of the issue with small grip on the 2000sk....being that the USP-C is only about 3oz heavier, can come in DAO without a snaggable hammer spur, and gives you an additional round in the standard magazine (although I remember you saying you're ok with the 2000sk capacity).
