- Happiness is… Exuberant little Khanyisa picks on “someone her own size” and chases the bushes in the reserve as they stand tall and to her own height. Klaserie and Bubi both take on babysitting the calf while Timisa, Limpopo and Lundi come to Khanyisa’s side in a protective circle around her as they grow alarmed at her antics!

She’s feeling pretty darn spunky running through that tall bush. If only she knew how many smiles she puts on peoples faces. Khanyisa deserves everything good in life. Ty for making that possible for her. ❤

I am sure all the older elephants are mumbling “its going to be a long day”. I remember Khanyisa’s mischief with her soccer ball and she took off and charged into the tall grass. Thank you so much for sharing this video. It seems a lot of baby elephants practice these mock charges. It is so precious.

Khanyisa was full of playful energy 😄💕. Even the big elephants started to playing 🥰😃❤. Very high bush🌳🌿🌿. I was giggling, Khanyisa was sweet and funny 🥰🥰. I love them💕💕.
I LOVE watching her charge through the bushes! She reminds me of those tiny Elephants that perform their "mock" charges. Good to see she is still silly and playful!! 🩷🐘🩷

So funny! I think Khanyisa was just practicing being a big elephant. Pretending to fight some invisible foe 😄 It's good to see her having fun, but she sure caused a ruckus with the herd. 🥰 And, she loves throwing it in reverse, doesn't she?

When she was in the orphanage, Khanyisa used to play like that in the tall grass. She would challenge the grass like a warrior princess and run about within it just like she's doing with these bushes.

She certainly DOES have the energy of youth! lol So touching to see the females crowd around her with concern. She stayed between them like a good girl. When they were assured that all was well, they moved off enough for her to continue her wonderful imaginary games. Smart animals have imaginations and elephants certainly are smart! 😃 These games will help her when she is older, too.
Interesting that her temporal glands were streaming due to her extreme excitement! Thank you for pointing that out, I might have not noticed.

I just rewatched your video of Khanyisa’s first year after being rescued. After seeing what all she went through to survive and watching her now gives me so much joy and love for these remarkable animals. Have you seen, or do you remember the video where she was running through many bushes and trumpeting same time? The herd was walking next to her and all were quite relaxed like nothing happened.
Our darling little SUNSHINE Khanyisa is quite the character, she acts just like an excited toddler. I never tire of her antics. Her eyes are wide open in the overcast skies and full of energy. Love how the older females gather around her, to calm her down, but not for long. There she goes again, beautiful spirit!!!

I chuckled throughout the entire video. It was especially funny when the adults moved in with their concern and she stopped what she was doing, but as soon as they walked away she was back at it. A typical youngster. ❤

Babies /toddlers are so much fun to watch. They put smiles on your face. It won't be long before we will need to look for pink ears to tell the difference Timisa and Ms. Sunshine/ Khanyisa . and that's a great thing. That means she is growing like a weed. Everybody else is like what are you doing?? she's in her own little world playing having fun and this is so GREAT that she feels so loved and she doesn't have a care in the world. the All Mothers are like "your not suppose to play with your food " your suppose to be eating...

What a delightful video! Khanyisa was sowing her wild oats! Oh my goodness! Thrusting and thrashing her little trunk against the bushes. Then to see her practice her charginh technique, then reverse and charge again. I was waiting for her to trumpet! Tamisa gave her a little trunk hug and then they both played. So thankful Khanyisa has a young elephant to play with. I'm trying my best to learn and identify all of the elephants. I've been going to the Herd history of each one and it REALLY helps when you identify them in your videos.

I was so glad to see Klasserie move in to watch over Khanyisa. I was scared a lion would jump out of the bushes at our baby . Kalsserie is such a wonderful allomother!
Khanyisa is just too precious and she is so loved along with all the others. Khanyisa touched my heart from the beginning as she went through so much but thanks to Adine and the carers look at her today. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the compassionate vet who took care of her wounds and today she gets to live her best life with her herd. ❤❤

this is medicine for my soul, there is nothing better than seeing a baby elephant FREE, HAPPY and PLAYING with no care in the world, it feels like this world is RIGHT, its not, it just makes me sad for the ones who are not free, nor happy and are alone sad and hurt, BUT theres hope, theres hope

Her face changes when shes alert & excited, shes so cute! Dashing amongst the bushes is the elephant version of "playing with your food"!🥰🙏❤️🐘
It is clear to me that elephants have an imagination. You can see it in Khanyisa’s face as she sizes up each bush and plunges in and in the way the other elephants react to her. If it was just her being playful with a bush the other elephants would not have come running and extending their ears. Either they are joining in her game or she was ‘cried wolf’....either way she has communicated what she has imagined to them. There is a doctoral study in the making here.
