Went last Friday the trail in front of the new big mine Is completely under water, you got about 150 yards maybe more of riding upstream in 1-2 feet of flowing water with big rocks and no way to turn around. We did it but it was white knuckle the whole way through. Humbolt creek is full and flowing. There was cool waterfalls and lots of water crossing. You need to have your shit together to do the back way because it can turn on you quickly. Don’t go alone.
I went on this trail back in the 70s and I remember the safe in the bank and a two story building which I thought was a hotel at Oro Belle. Oro Belle reminds me a rock somewhere near Rock Springs that actually had a "street sign" scribed on it pointing the way to Oro Belle. I wish I could remember where that rock is, but I know I have a picture somewhere. Your videos are the best and the information you provide is great for us history buffs!
Thx for the update. Been up this trail many of times and never knew there were that many mines that I missed!! Now I can go again and explore a little more!! Thank you!!
This trail was one of my favorites. I just returned last year and saw the changes caused by the re route. Wish that hadn't happened. I think I have pictures of the building you were talking about from 2002. It was in much better shape then. I flew my drone is that Oro Belle area myself but I struggling that day with some weird lighting and just couldn't get the shots I wanted.
Great video. Couple questions: how long did it take you in your atv from the lake to the saloon? (At you normal speed with your normal e water breaks) uds there another trail back to the lake ? Maybe to do a loop to go up and down in one day? Thanks
This trail seems to change every year. It's too bad about the miners. I was there a few years ago when they started. A couple of cool stops. Good thing you had the drone.
