Harvesting for the MOST Beautiful Farmers Market Stand Ever!

  • We have a reputation for having a very beautiful farmers market stand, customers frequently mention it, and people take selfies infront of it to be "Im at a farmers market!" on social media. Its a good looking stand. But I feel like it keeps getting better, as Serina's bouquets have evolved with this year doing $20 bouquets instead of $10, the stand has looked better than our first 2 seasons. That means that this week, our first week this summer with Pink Berkeley Tie Die Tomatoes and gorgeous perfect large eggplants, our stand will have the opportunity to be literally, our best looking stand ever! I don't just want to take an easy win, but I will work extra hard this week to make the pinnacle that much higher! The flowers and veggies do end up looking amazing, but you will have to watch the video to see how the market goes. And of course there is some bouquet arranging in here as well. We arrange a bouquet for the Flower CSA that is bright and cheery with lots of big beautiful zinnias, and some sunflowers. A bouquet for the market is arranged as well, featuring amaranth and coral zinnias. Also there is lots of fun harvesting footage in this video, but you probably are already expecting that.

    You might already have something like this but I really think you should have a sign that talks about your TH-cam channel at the market. If your customer saw your videos and knew how much work that goes in to making the flower bouquets or saw how you grow your food I´m sure they would be happy to support you. Few people know what it takes to have a business and very few know what their food comes from. I love your channel so much and I learn so much from watching you.

      So true. I would never have known the amount of hard work that goes into running a farming business - a farmer in addition to knwoing how to grow different crops requires so many marketing, design skills - like a jack of all trades - in order to successfully run their business. I will be more free while spending at the farmer's market in the future.

    There’s a local farm that occasionally opens up their field and you Pay to cut a certain amount of flowers. Idk if that’s profitable or not. But it will save you time and work not to harvest the flowers. Sometimes I kinda wish you guys had more markets because I’m selfishly hoping for more videos. 🤣.

    Why don't you guys try to put together a "Bouquet bar" kind of thing at the market, all of the leftover flowers can go down and people can build a bouquet? I don't know if people would take the time, but just an idea.

    • @AshleeKnowsNot
      @AshleeKnowsNot 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would probably do something like that if I lived in their area. I usually buy cheap Walmart or Kroger flowers and make my own bouquets.
      It's probably not super practical for markets though. Might work for the farm stand.

    Regarding flower farm vs veggies, as a consumer I prefer farmers market flowers because usually the flowers are fresh and unique and much cheaper than from a florist. Farmers market veggies however are usually more expensive than the store (understandably so). I’m sure the pandemic has been tough on consumers as well so it’s harder to justify spending twice as much on veggies, whereas a fresh bouquet can make you happy for at least a week. Just my opinion.

    You are the most talented bouquet maker on the internet! I wish I lived closer I would show up at your market every week to buy one! Have a bouquet bar like Nicole with your extras?? You guys work so hard, but I’m sure it’s super satisfying to create so much beauty (vegetables are beautiful too) for a living. Thank you for making these videos. ❤️❤️❤️

      Idea for the extra flowers… bring the buckets & offer the opportunity for people to make their own bouquets?

    I'm still Team Veggies!! The market stand setup was excellent this week, started giving just a hint of Fall vibes with the squash front and center. I also thought the bouquets were exceptional this week, really love the two tone ones just have two different colors in then but with different types of flowers. Hope things pickup for you next week!

    "All great harvests start with a single snip" needs to go on a coffee mug. Stunning CSA bouquets! I'm one of those people who really enjoy the smell of tomato greens, so I'll have to give that a try for filler. Glad you're getting some use out of the rubber band hack! Keep up the good work👏👏
    ETA: I really think it's awesome that your extras, especially bouquets, go to the food bank. What a great way to connect with your community and share your talents with people who will genuinely appreciate it. Great example to fellow farmers and your kids.

    It would never have entered my mind to use tomato prunings as green filler. Brilliant! I sure hope your farm makes it through the fire. Love your videos.
