In Los Angeles there's a place called the flower market. It's a beautiful place. I had called in advance and asked for light blue flowers. Roses, daisy's whatever else they could do. Instead of a bachelorette party we did a bridesmaids make your own bouquet and help the flower girls with their baskets. Then they all chose a flower and contributed it to my bouquet. It was such an amazing experience with all of them. It was my second wedding so I wasn't gonna go nuts. I spent about $200 on flowers for 10 bridesmaids, 4 flower girls, my bouquet and the bouquet toss. Such an amazing day.
Visited Aalsmeer during the Floriade in June '92------mind was absolutely blown with the amount of flowers I saw plus the Auction...in the floral industry for 5 decades....
I thought this was going to be a documentary about the global flower trade. Turned out to be a gripe session by brits about why brits aren't in control of it. Bait and switch.
The Dutch have the historical link with the tulip as being a highly prized commodity..but the competitive streak between the Brits and Holland keeps everyone on their toes..it is very stressful but the beauty of flowers and the emotional gasp of the amazing installation at the British art gallery took the cake for me..totally incredible..well done..thankyou for this doco..❤
Flowers are not just for beauty for our eyes but our senses also go with it. What do all people do when they have a flower in hand, sniff. So I can't imagine roses with no scent to them.
As a floral professional, I don’t understand why people think that all flowers have a scent because they don’t. I don’t understand where this came from. Like everything in nature, nothing is alike. Next time when you are around wildflowers growing naturally, smell them and you will see there is no scent. Also in landscapes the same holds true. One flower that has become extremely popular in landscaping are different types of daylilies. You see them everywhere in commercial spaces such as shopping areas. Try smelling them because they have no scent.
@@sreykimsear I think you are the one that needs to smell many types of flowers. I have been in the floral industry for over 35 years and have walked both growing fields, wild Fields, green houses and much more. For instance , a daylily has no scent neither does an Asiatic Lilly, however an oriental lily does have a scent. As a result, I have had many weddings where the brides do not want scented flowers because it interferes with the dinner that is being served on the table. I know what I’m talking about.

Just like any country the Netherlands has it's own troubles, as a vacation any country is very different then living there. Also prices for everything went up alot(food, gas, electricity and more) while income is still the same. Another annoyance is that school degrees/study have to be European, or they most likely are not acknowledged and have to be earned again. I am saying this as very low income Dutch person, I don't know about mid or high end income.

The British don't seem to understand that a country makes money by exporting goods not by producing for their internal market. That's only pomping money around.
The British aren't even close to exporting stuff other people want. At this point, they are about catching up so their own market wants to buy their cheaper domestic stuff in the first place. Why would we in the EU pay more for lower quality stuff coming from outside of our single market? And if not the EU, who else will buy British exports?
My mother bought flowers from the lokal flowershop every single week. That's the Durch way. She even knew when rhe flowers came from the auction. And yes, most flowers do not smell, but there is a growing population that are allergic to Perfumes...also strong smelling flowers.

This is not true. While the dutch are definitely an incredible flower power house, Ecuador and Colombia are the two biggest exporters after them. The roses from Ecuador are the best in the world and I have been in the floral industry for 35 years.

Who knew flowers are worth so much😁🥰
Lol, the English are interesting. In one breath they say they just want to get on with things and sell their exceptional British blooms, in the next they go on and on about how superior the Dutch are & show just how much they're competing with a nation that doesn't seem to be competing with them at all.
Beautiful no words to express their
beauty🥰🙊
I watch Laura Garden Answer, and she has beautiful tulips, so the past Couple of years have been ordering tulips and daffodils bulbs, they told me awhile ago my order was delay because they are coming from Holland, when I finally received them I was so pleased with the quality, have been ordering ever since

We should be eating flowers. You are what you eat. Beauty and color sounds good.
I wonder where the information at 06:00 (the flower greenhouses producing 10% of the Netherlands power needs) comes comes from. As far as I know the opposite is true and the And an average greenhouse consumes as much energy as 400 households, but does not produce any energy...?
