Just because it was historically incorrect, it doesn't mean that this movie is not great. i felt this movie and the hunchback of notre dame were severely underrated :(
I just love how Jon Secada and Shanice sings this song. Their voices just blends so well. I miss them so much. We really need to bring back real r&b and go back to our roots.
It was actually also sung in the film by Mel Gibson (yes, it was him, not a professional) and Judy Kuhn when she comes to see him before execution. I'm annoyed they took their version out of following re-releases, as Mel actually had a good singing voice.
@@alking7655 Ik it’s such a good song idk why they cut it out of the final film. But apparently they added it in the film on Disney plus. I didn’t know that because I’m old school and watch it on a vhs tape
Shoutout to my mum for giving birth to me in 1994, and spoiled us by buying these disney movies and letting us grow up with them. Had the best childhood ever :( If I could, I'd go back in a heartbeat. R.I.P Mum
This song is underrated and overlooked because of Colors of the Wind. I used to get emotional with myself listening to this as a kid before even knowing what love was.
IKR? I find this song probably the most underrated love song (not counting sequels) which is sad considering how intimate and mature it is. It isn’t about falling in love like nearly every other one, but instead is all about WHY John Smith fell deeply in love with Pocahontas and how much she means to him! He’d rather die a changed man filled with love than remain the same arrogant captain he once was. Imo John Smith gets waay too much hate as a character, like no one ever remembers how much he changes because of his love for Pocahontas
Irene Bedard Pocahontas Mel Gibson John Smith Christian Bale Thomas David Odgen Stiers Wiggins Billy Connolly Ben Joe Baker Lon Michelle St. John Nakoma Russell Means Chief Powhatan James Apaumut Fall Kocoum Gordon Tootosis Kekata Linda Hunt Grandmother Willow John Kassir Meeko Frank Welker Flit Danny Mann Percy Frank Welker Forest Animals David Odgen Stiers Governor Ratcliffe
Kind of how all Disneys were for me. Watched it as a kid for entertainment, came back as an adult and watched it and got all the meaning behind it, combined with the warm memories of childhood.
Oh man the year this movie came out was the year I was born. I miss those days. That was when life was simple and we didn't have to deal with any of the bullshit of today
Watched this yesterday and I cried at the ending...out of all the times I have watched this film I haven't cried until yesterday...love John smith so much!
Next to Aurora and Ariel this is the best princess ever. She is underrated. Her story is just heartbreaking. The song is wonderful. 2 wonderful singers to bring the heartbreak and the passion and love of a people and a girl.
Aurora is by far one of the worst princesses. I’m sorry but she does absolutely nothing in her movie except wait for a guy she hardly knows to save her. Her movie is very beautiful, but Aurora is literally the most boring character. Pocahontas almost died fighting for what she believed in
Watching Pocahontas as a kid, it was fun. But watching it as an Adult after experiencing love...it was still fun but now more meaningful. You somehow find yourself understanding the emotions better, where you feel you can almost relate, This song has a beautiful meaning, it was very apt for this film.
I refuse to acknowledge the fact that there's a second movie. If they wanted to be historically accurate they wouldn't have made them a couple in the first place! John Smith + Pocahontas forever!!!!
A friend I've met only a few months ago is leaving back to Thailand (foreign exchange student), and tomorrow, he'll be gone. He is worth making friends with, even though that is the only thing we'll ever be, friends. I love him with all my heart, I defiantly dedicate this song to him.
I love this song, this is the song I would sing to my parents because they have given sure a great life so I thank God for finding them, I am so proud to carry their name, if it wasn’t for god, I would never have knew them but I love them for all, my heart
we all know the real story, we just don't want to believe it. for me i would like to believe this fairy tale, its a part of me a part of my childhood and i never want to forget that :)
I miss old movies/cartoons. They just don't make them like they used too... innocent and beautiful for all ages. You can almost never watch a movie without there being swear words or a sex scene. I'm sad to say that I am becoming very disappointed with this new generation.
This movie reminds me of my best friend and I,we are both opposites and fall deeper into love than we both would expect!!!!we are getting married this year!!!!
I can't say much about If I never Knew You except it is one of my favorite Disney songs of all time I was in Grade 7 Summer prior to my 8th-grade year 95-96 when this movie was released I remember in the 8th grade me and my friend mentioned this story to our US HIST- 8 teacher he said your in luck because I have the movie to this I said you said what I told him lets watch it because I and the class want to sing along to the music of this movie
I watched this movie the day I broke up with my boyfriend. Pocahontas happened to be on Netflix so I decided to watch it since it had been forever. When I finished the movie and this song played at the very end, I got emotional because it was very difficult to break up with him, but it was for the best for me to move on with my life.
The ending of Pocahontas STILL makes me cry like a little girl to this day and I am 25 years old!! This song is too deep and beautiful for words. 💖💜

Not to mention that those two movies were two of the first Disney movies that tackled serious and genuine subject matters
And Hercules
Antonius Ferdinand I could not agree more

I feel like they knew if they made it accurate to story it coildnt be considered a childrens movie let alone a Disney movie
I just love how Jon Secada and Shanice sings this song. Their voices just blends so well. I miss them so much. We really need to bring back real r&b and go back to our roots.
By far the best end title song from any Disney movie. Pocahontas is really underrated.
Yeah really. It's sad. I'm obsessed with the movie. Poca should get more props lol
You got that right!
It was actually also sung in the film by Mel Gibson (yes, it was him, not a professional) and Judy Kuhn when she comes to see him before execution. I'm annoyed they took their version out of following re-releases, as Mel actually had a good singing voice.

I was very young the first time I heard that song and I just wanted to cry cause it was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time!
Cookie Monster I was moved by it at 6. I used to just let the credits go and would never regret it. I was so upset this song got cut.
Dat whistle tone is EVERYTHING
Wow this song makes my heart and soul shiver.. I'm so happy I lived through the 90s.. the music and life was so beautiful I miss it all
I’m a 00’s baby so happy I grew up with these Disney movies and this kind of music. The new generation will never know this era 😞
I'm so glad I'm a 90s kid :) so this could be part of my childhood ❤️
When I was a kid I always fast-forwarded the movie to the end just to hear this song :,) which on a VHS player took FOREVER...so worth it though
Kind of how all Disneys were for me. Watched it as a kid for entertainment, came back as an adult and watched it and got all the meaning behind it, combined with the warm memories of childhood.
I know this is a love song but I truly would be lost without my family! 🥰

Such a beautiful song. This is the song that means so much to me, because of one of my very best friends who had changed my life completely.
