Fantastic special effects by Ray Harryhausen and exciting mythological adventure make this a film that is fun for everyone. It's the story of Jason (Todd Armstrong), a fearless sailor and explorer, who returns to the kingdom of Thessaly after a 20-year voyage to make his rightful claim to the throne. But to do so, Jason must first find the magical Golden Fleece. He selects a crew and with the help of Hera, Queen of the Gods, sets sail in search of the Fleece. Jason and his crew must overcome incredible obstacles including a 100-foot bronze giant, the venomous Hydraa huge creature with the heads of seven snakes, and a spectacular battle with an army of skeletons.

That head turn and sound effect were terrific for the time...great film.
When Talos turned his head I was like, OH CRAP!
The creaking noise Talos made was terrifying detail that scared me when I saw this fantastic film as a child 😀
You and me BOTH! I was 10!
Still haunts me that noise
Yes, incredible sound effects that add so much depth to the bronze giant Talos!
@@jeffkatt I was about 7 or 8 when I saw it..horrified me for a week 🤣
I was in 1st grade when I watched this movie and it also terified me
This is still one of the all-time best
Keep your CGI give me my childhood stop motion anytime.
Without technology development in 1963 they created masterpiece!
aqui pensando o mesmo,perfeito.
They used the technology from 1943. 1943 learned from 1923. Technology learns from itself.
No Computers and they a nice job !

When I was 5 this was the greatest thing I had ever seen.
The older I get the more convinced of that I become
Grew up with this movie along with Clash of the Titans ❤️❤️❤️ always get goosebumps with these scenes ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, and the original Time Machine was so impressionable on us as children.
I saw clash of the titans in theatre when i was 5 years old.
Couldn't sleep easily for years.
Kids now watch horror movies to laugh
@@abdelmoneim3796 I guess the C.G.I. effects are Laughable.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
This film was amazing for his time
This was great and brings back memories! Much better than what is shown on TV today!
I like how Talos climbs down off the pedestal and leans back for a minute .
"guess its time to go to work!"
Who knows how long he’s been in that position
@@andrewlopez411 I'm sure Mr. Talos could use some WD 40
for his creaking joints. 😁
I like how we get to see Hercules do one feat of super strength, still awesome. *edit* Two including the discus throw.
I'll bet that Talos closed and held that door. It must have been surprised that Hercules was strong enough to open it.
This was made around the early 1960's, some of the special effects are very well done, no computer-generated images back then. I first watched it around 1968 and watched it again about 6 months ago, still a great movie.
great film that for the time it was made has very good special effects and when I was a child watching a film the room was full of people and everyone was silent because we liked to see every detail I remember that when I watched this film it was in 1979 on a Telefunken TV that was powered by a tractor battery from the farm where my parents worked at the time, great to remember the good old times.
Ray Harryhausen made a documentary about all of his works: He spoke about how easy Talos actually was.
The hardest was Medusa in Clash Of The Titans; probably the scariest one too.
I've always loved that movie 🍿🎥
great lighting on this set
looks like goddamn renaissance painting
when Corporate finds you stealing office supplies....
Few things I remember have had such a huge impression on my young life, as this film, and especially this part , My late father took me to see this back in 63, This part of the film did its job perfectly, I still find it a must watch,
I envy you for having seen this film on the big screen. I only got the second or third runs on TV. Still one of my favs.
One of my favorite movies growing up
Great musical score too !
Hercules’ actor deserved a longer life. So sad :(

Seeing this for the first time on the big screen must have been an experience.
It was, believe me, I was 13 at the time.
@@mossimmo1271 I was 10! Unbelievable!!!!
Yes it was!
They should release again on the big screen
@@mossimmo1271 Me too!
This is where Harryhausen showed his skill. Today's CGI "wizards" would just have Talos jump down off the pedestal. Harryhausen gave size to his creature with sound and slow movement.
My complaint with the Transformer movies animation is that they move too fast and you don't get the sense they have a lot of mass
They Ruined The Remake of Clash of the Titans for Me
The groaning metallic sound effects are so effective!
I'm 39 and still find this scene as terrifying as I did when i was a child.
Habe den Film bestimmt schon 20 mal gesehen
I always wondered by Talos door was open... some twisted trick of the Gods to lure someone in maybe?
Yes! "If they leave it lying around unguarded they obviously don't want it."
But as Jason says, " The Gods of Greece are cruel, and they want their entertainment"
I'm sure that ten men couldn't have opened that door that Hercules opened.
Despite that. this Hercules lacks the muscles that others have showed. Watch Steve Reeves tearing the tree ( root and all ) in the movie
It's only a film
Seen this ,when I was, 5 yrs. old. 👍
think thus film was my introduction to the classics and gladiator films one of my favorite
Very well done i love this movie alot Hercules one feat of super strength wow !! 💓💓
1:29 - They used the same sound effect for Talos in Blood of Zeus
I watched the clip of that scene and was surprised
Yes, and the same pose too!
They just upgraded his look, and made him “slightly” faster.
It would be worse if Talos would of taken a piss on them ! LOL!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Talos peed from his heel.
I remember watching this at school when I was a child, but I never knew that living statue actually had a name! I thought it was just a guard, and I also wondered how they created those special effects.
Oopsie. Better put it back. 😝
If you freeze frame @2:25...
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Talos has ideal masculin shape body
That big guy needs some oil !
🤣
That was the main sound effect that made it so frightening seeing it back in 1963 as a 10yr old which is how old I was when I first saw it.
@@jeffkatt Me too I was 9 and that sound was scary !
In an irônic sense,I guess you could say Hercules ultimately,AND indirectly, got Hylas killed
That's why he stayed behind when the others left - sniff - guess he was a bit of a senior delinquent 💪
@@susanlockyer1192 Yes. Right. Thanks
What a brilliant film this is, way before C,G,I
Now I know where that joke from family guy comes from about the out-of-shape-in-shape 50s man comes from
Nigel Green may not have had the rippling abs of later Hercules, but he was a genuine tough and strong man respected for the gravitas he brought to his films
Nigel Green looks fairly in-shape to be fair
at 1:30 I woulda painted my pants brown and gave up
I wonder who are the extra 3 statues?
Moe Larry Curly ?
I don't know, but, they ain't gonna chase the Argonauts cuz they're NOT dressed properly. 🤭😅😁🤣
@@richardg1426 the third one looks more like Shemp!!
three other gods i guess , or they arte other bronze guardians like talos

when the 'wind' shut the door of Talos' sarcophagus -
you'd have thought they'd..../Hercules
would have got the message....
Notice Talos eyes are pure black? That adds the creepy factor to him
talos head turns, just how fast can you run?
Talos guard the treasure
I've watched this scene numerous times man and boy. It just occurred to me recently that Talos was avoiding the water. I wonder if they would have been safe away from shore?
It must have been the wind.
More like ill-wind, Talos farted. 🤭
The scale and size of Talos seem a bit inconsistent at times. The shoot of him standing over the lagoon's outlet had him a bit too big and tall than when he was initially introduced in Hephaestus' valley.
you are totally correct. His height is all over the place.
They would have ahot the background footage first and the animators just filled the space available so they didn't leave a ton of headroom in the finished film
Come on fellas stop nit-picking
Winge..winge....get a life!
😁😁😄😃😀
Why is Hercules wearing diapers?
He's wearing a loincloth to protect His manhood.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's a master peace always loved it 👍👍👍
Time to remake this classic with CGI as the star, along with a few big names co-starring.
If not done properly, it could be a disaster!
i wopuld becurious
They should use practical effects when possible
No They Would Just Ruin It
@@philcox95 yeah they would
