I like how this actually shows Iris’s growth in her maturity. She had no doubt in her love for Barry compared to season 1, which makes sense since this is many years later.

I really think that the Eddie/Cobalt Blue arc is one of the strongest villain arcs in the last few seasons, so it's too bad that they saved it for the final four episodes. Thought it deserved at least a half season, maybe starting right after the Red Death arc ended.
Between the increase in the cost of VFX and the extra episodes they would have had to pay major guest stars, I don't think it was in the already reduced budget.

But for Cobalt Blue, you can see how he was able to strategically tie the story into past seasons and make a villain us fans connect with. So, he should've just planned to have Cobalt Blue the whole time.
Eddie is giving off creepy vibes even without speaking. Yet Iris welcomed him and wanted him to stay. In the face of his attitude and his intentions she was right to make it clear so he would not hold on to whatever delusions he had about them being together in 2049. Even if she had tried to coddle him, he would have reacted the same because it was not what he want to hear.
I love how they’re not only timing it back to Eddie’s unseen jealousy towards Barry, but Eddie’s own bloodline. Every thing about the colbat blue arc has been so amazing. They haven’t just made nostalgic references to season 1, they’ve actually been tying seasons 1 and 9 together in such a way. The night Nora died in the post crisis timeline, Eddie being re-incarnated in the future to then obtain his past memories in his other life and travel back to the present. I can’t wait until Colbat Blue resurrects every staple villain like Zoom, Savitar, etc, and I want to see a scene where Eobard Thawn is proud of Eddie for continuing the Thawn legacy and maybe Eddie sabotaging Thawn’s plan one last time.
Well, everything would be perfect but there are only 45 minutes of the show left, knowing previous episodes they will waste 20 minutes on emotional talks and other bullshit and we'll en up with Barry Allen 2.37 minute screentime
I think Iris handled this as best as she could. For 2049 Iris, it’s been over thirty years since Eddie died, and so it’s odd to expect her to have a super emotional reaction to seeing him again. I also think that it’s not twisting the knife further when she told him that, “It was always Barry.” He’s literally arguing that he could be married to her, and she’s making the point that that was never going to be his life, because even if he didn’t die, she’d have realized her feelings for Barry, because she always was in love with Barry, even when she didn’t realize it. Like that’s more than fair of her to make that clear. Her point is that she was always going to end up with Barry, and that Eddie is clinging to a life that he’d never had. She doesn’t owe it to Eddie to say anything but the truth, and if the Negative Speed Force wasn’t in his ear, maybe he’d have accepted the help and also accepted that he can now go live the actual life he was supposed to lead, which isn’t a life with Iris.
if they had the first half of this season be Stephen Amell as Red Death and the second half Rick Cosnett as Cobalt Blue i would've loved it soo much more

So it is possible that she had a differente reaction, because it is the future, she already had two kids, she gone through a lot. So for me a differente reaction from her part was expected. While Iris could've been better at her wording when dealing with Eddie, I think we can all understand where she's coming from. For Iris, it's been decades since Eddie sacrificed himself, and she's had time to heal and move on, while for Eddie, it feels as if it was only yesterday, so of course he feels hurt like team Flash doesn't care about him after what he did. A lot of people feel sorry for Eddie after he feels like his sacrifice was all for nothing, but I think a lot of people are forgetting how in season 2, Barry blamed himself for Ronnie and Eddie's death and because of that he distanced everyone around him, and how it took Iris months to recover and finally start dating again after Eddie's death. I genuinely feel for the guy, but Barry and Iris are both right in how Eddie's life with Iris is way into the past nowadays. Eddie needs to find someone else now instead of fixating on what might've been with Iris.
Maybe telling him that right now when he’s barely processed the grief of losing his life is just not the best way to handle things? If it took the others months and years to process moving on, maybe we give Eddie a few more months before just telling him “hey it’s time to move on” 😅
It feels like Eddie is also trying to claw back some sense of normalcy and stability for himself after dealing with all this information by trying to get back with Iris.
The actor for Eddie really did an amazing job, his character is so tragic and sympathetic, just sucks this episode was filled with more team flash garbage. Everything including Eddie and Barry was great though.
This scene is complexed in a way. What Future Iris says comes off as cruel but it bears some truth. Just because he wants a romantic future with her, she doesn't. She's not just gonna give up her marriage and family for some nutty whackshot with identity issues that came back from the dead because he feels its right. At the same time, I get it. She could've worded it a bit better

This scene kinda hits close to my heart. A girl I grew up with, had a total crush on her and she got married about a year and a half ago. I finally gave up my feelings for her some time ago, but if I'd still carry a torch for her and obsessed the way Eddie is, I wouldn't recognize myself as the man I am. While Iris could've been better at her wording when dealing with Eddie, I think we can all understand where she's coming from. For Iris, it's been decades since Eddie sacrificed himself, and she's had time to heal and move on, while for Eddie, it feels as if it was only yesterday, so of course he feels hurt like team Flash doesn't care about him after what he did. A lot of people feel sorry for Eddie after he feels like his sacrifice was all for nothing, but I think a lot of people are forgetting how in season 2, Barry blamed himself for Ronnie and Eddie's death and because of that he distanced everyone around him, and how it took Iris months to recover and finally start dating again after Eddie's death. I genuinely feel for the guy, but Barry and Iris are both right in how Eddie's life with Iris is way into the past nowadays. Eddie needs to find someone else now instead of fixating on what might've been with Iris.
