Yet another lovely video, as a 63 year old ex service man who is no longer able to hike due to various injuries, I love to watch your travels, they bring back so many happy memories of walks gone by .
34 years ago in May 1990 my late pal and myself picked a pebble from St. Bees. We tried to carry it to Robin Hood's Bay, but we took to the high Fells after Ennerdale Water. My mate tripped on High Crag and on the day five his leg was black and blue from knee to ankle. We failed. Our first leg was to Ennerdale Bridge, we had our lunch on Dent and remember taking off our boots to sit and bathe our feet on the footbridge in Nannycatch Beck. Happy Days. All the best, Peter.
Oh blimey, that sounds painful! Good on you both for setting out to do this, and that’s good going doing the whole stretch from St Bees to Ennerdale! I only did a short day the first day as my train got in late & I walked around the coast & into the coves before starting the hike. Sounds like you still had a great adventure despite finishing early!🥾⛰️
It's little surprise these isles have created such classic stories and worlds that have stood the test of time. When youre walking through the Shire or Narnia, theres nothing more inspiring.
First time watching you so Good Luck. I have completed this Hike twice, once in each directions, just as I did the Pennine Way. I know the route and enjoyed my hikes each time and I hope you do too. My backpack was slightly heavier than yours at 25kg, but I still enjoyed every step of the way. Happy Hiking. Being retired now for 6 months and just waiting a month or two before I am off again on another LD Hike, not sure how many I have left in me, but I will keep hiking while I can. Previous hikes include the Pennine Way South to North and North to South, C2C West to East and East to West, North Norfolk Coast Path (Hunstanton to Lowestoft), Lands End to John OGroats, then John OGroats to Lands End, and in 2000 I completed the Coastal Walk/Tour of Great Brittian. Now retired but I still enjoy watching others to refresh my memory of Hikes I have completed. Tony in Essex.
Wow that’s so impressive! We’ll down on your achievements, that’s amazing to have so many trails completed! And 25kg omg… that’s mental! Again, super impressive. Thank you for watching & commenting, I hope you enjoy the videos!
@@Orenjen All I can say about the weight of my pack would be 4 months previous to starting to Hike the UK Long Distance Trails I was in the Army for a few years and the Army Packs weigh 30 to 35kg and where expected to cover 30km per day, so in hindsight my 25kg pbackpack was lighter that I was used to. Hi. You put out such relaxing videos, it's a pleasure watching. The Airbnb was an excellent find. The C2C is on my list to do, so I will be watching the full series. Thankyou.
Thank you that means so much! I know mine aren’t as concise as some, but I hope it’ll please the niche that enjoy the longer, slower paced videos I make 😁
Hi, thank you, it was an incredible journey. And exactly, the section between Reeth & Danby Wiske was a little dire. Ingleby was gorgeous, though the stretch after Ingleby from Lordstones to Glaisdale was a bit naff too, the rest of the sections between were gorgeous 😍
Absolutely brilliant, I loved every minute! I can understand you feeling a bit shy when people are around. Great filming and narration, so relaxing to watch. Thankyou!
Thank you happy to hear it! Yeah I’m putting out 14 videos for each day, and after I’ll be releasing a longform video of all the days in one… I’m expecting it to be 7+ hours long 😬 this is for a couple reasons, as different people prefer different forms of media; some prefer a looong video all in one, and others prefer to watch day by day in different videos. Also, if I were to just release the one long video, it’d take me that long to edit & put it together my channel would be radio silent for months 😂
What a glorious video. So relaxing to watch. I loved the slow pace. The beautiful greenness of everything was stunning. Can’t wait for the rest of the series. Walked the C2C in 2013 - this has made me very keen to do it again.
Oh wow thank you for the lovely comment! Happy you enjoyed the video, and that it’s made you want to hike it again! Congrats on completing it in 2013, it’s not an easy feat at all. I hope you enjoy the upcoming ones just as much!😁
Fantastic video...brought back so many memories....we travelled from our home in Australia to do the C2C last year...most challenging and satisfying thing Ive ever done can understand your emotions.....well done and thankyou. Look forward to watching the rest of your videos
Oh wow, you came a long way for it! I met some Australians on the C2C and they were lovely. And thank you, it definitely is more challenging than people give it credit for, but equally as spectacular 😁
This was so beautifully shot, thank you for taking the time to film the details that so many others ignore, I just loved watching this and will watch your adventure until you reach Robin Hood's bay.
This came up as a suggested video for me and glad I clicked and watched. Made my stressful work day a whole lot calmer s thank you! Looking forward to the rest of the journey.
Hi Jennifer, I’ve watched loads of other videos of the C2C and this is the best so far, looked beautiful and some nice weather to start your journey well. Looking forward to the next instalment already. Cheers Glyn.
Thank you so much! I’ve just completed the Cumbria way this year & got this booked in & planned for this year, will also be filming for my channel! Amazing part 1, thanks again!
Oh that’s wonderful, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Congrats on completing the Cumbria Way, I hiked it in April 2021 and I’m planning on completing it for a second time next year 😁 Best of luck with your C2C journey, I’m sure it’ll be absolutely amazing. And I hope my upcoming C2C videos will help you get a feel for the trail! ☺️

Hope you enjoy the upcoming videos!
I've got to do it again this summer! I tried 2 summers ago during that one heatwave we had but had to stop in Reeth after my boots had chewed my feet in to oblivion. Good to see the route again!
Yeah you definitely should, and hiking it through a heatwave is so tough, the first half of my hike was during the May 2023 heatwave. I definitely wanna hike this again anyway, probably in the next couple years 😁
Hi, what a great video. I loved how you took the time to show the detail whilst walking along the coast line, all the little coves and the wildlife. So many of these videos of the coast to coast seem to zoom along without really seeing anything in much detail. It’s on my bucket list to do, although I’ve been poorly recently I hope to be out and about sometime next year
Happy you enjoyed it, thank you so much! Yeah I noticed that too, some videos don’t show enough of the trail so I aim to do that, I’m glad you appreciate it 😁 I do hope you get round to doing it, it’s tough but an incredible experience. I hope you’re better now!

Hi, oh thank you! I’m glad you enjoy my perspective, I aim to show as much as the hike as I can. And I actually show a picture of what I packed in my Day 2 video!
Hi Tiny Pine, your video is the loveliest coast to coast film I’ve seen yet. Is there any way I can get a copy of the route you took? I’m going it June/July and really fancy the route you’re taking. Parts of it look like Cornwall with the narrow lanes with high banks. Beautiful ❤️
Ah that’s magic, thank you 🙏 I love your approach to it and I’m working my way through your films. You have a pace and approach that I feel comfortable with in my approach to this adventure. My training run is the Hadrians Wall c2c first. Thanks again for sharing your journeys, and sharing the route is an unexpected bonus! 😊
Glad you love it!😁 for this trail I just winged it each day so other than the route itself which was planned, the accommodation wasn’t 😂 either I was lucky or it’s easy enough to find a place to stay, I think every night I booked somewhere the same day!
Love your videoing style, have watched a few C2C videos and yours are the most pleasurable. Wanted to do it for a while now but something always crops up to stop me, definitely going to get up off my arse and do it. One question, you say you're carrying 17kg, that sounds a lot is that much really necessary.
Oh thank you so much! That’s so kind of you to say, and in terms of my carrying weight, it depends on how you’re hiking it as in will you be camping or stopping at B&B’s? I carried all of my camping gear and none of it was ultralight (as UL is way more expensive) this included cooking gear, bottles of water, snacks, clothing, sketching stuff, toiletries and other bits and pieces. I think most people would’ve packed less 😂
@@Orenjen, I'll hopefully be staying in B&B's but will be taking a tent for a bit of independence so I'm not tied to a specific distance every day and there looks to be some beautiful spots to do a bit of wild camping.
I think it’ll still be pretty for sure! You’d get the autumn leaves & moody skies, however you’re more likely to get rain, wind & cold weather, but it’ll still be pretty 😁
Is it possible to see popular places like buttermere/windmere and malham cove/gordale scar on the way? I know they are in the national parks on the way, but i wasn't sure how out of the way they are.
It’s possible to see Buttermere as you ascend up from Ennerdale Valley/Black Sail Hut before going back down towards Honister & Borrowdale. Though you’ll see it from above as you’ll be atop the fells, unless you take a day out to go down to it, you don’t physically pass it. Windermere is a little too far south of this trail, but you pass right through Borrowdale, Grasmere & Patterdale! It also takes you up to some of the popular tarns in the fells such as Grizedale Tarn & Angle Tarn 😁
