  • The renowned English Coast to Coast is a 190 Mile walk starting in St Bee's in Cumbria and finishing at Robin Hoods Bay in North Yorkshire.
Hiking through 3 of Englands National parks it takes in some of the best views in England.
However, with no prior long distance hiking experience and the unpredictable weather of an English spring. It will be both challenging and rewarding.
So sit back, relax and join me on my first ever youtube video and what is sure to be an adventure I will remember forever!

Really enjoyed that, was nice to see so much honesty about how you were feeling and the lack of experience in long distance, I’m very similar myself and really felt I was there walking with you. Great shots and editing will look forward to part 2. All the best…

That is a tough one to do as your first solo trek, but they're all challenging in their own way, and there are always stages where you really feel it. The good news, in my experience, is that you get into a rhythm after a few days and then it becomes much easier. When you've finished you'll realise you've caught the bug and want to do more, then the fun really begins 👍

It was nice to see the NEW Tree Plantation just after you crossed over the M6, that used to be so open and monotonous. It was a case of head down and trudge on.

As for you lack of pre-plannning, I always carry enough dried food to last me 5 EXTRA days when out on mega Hikes like this. I guess you can put that down to pre planning for emergencies, always carry enough food and at least 2 litres of water at all times.

Stumbled upon this the other day, the algorithm decided I needed to see this and... yes, yes I did.
As someone who has done a lot of day trip hikes but no multi day national trails like this I'm loving seeing someone decide to go for it and will learn from the things you point out you've learned along the way.
I'll be watching and enjoying all your future stuff.

I actually met you on the first day coming round Ennerdale Water and was the hiker pitched just along from you that first night (my kids loved seeing my distant cameo as you panned the camera round haha) great video mate and looking forward to reliving the trail through the rest 🤙

Well, you're not doing too badly for your first 'extended mileage walk' as you put it. I'm half each in the camps of 'admiration' and 'foolhardy' 🤪at you going for such a long trek without much experience. But at least you now know you can do it. I'm going to watch pt.2 now. Cheers and well done so far.

Good Luck mate, I have completed this hike twice once in each direction carrying in 30kg. Loved every step of the way, but really sad we never had GoPros when I did it, so now being retired I watch as many others doing one of my favourite hikes. I have also completed the Pennine Way twice (once in each direction) ditto Lands End to John OGroats and John OGroats to Lands End and the Complete Coastline of mainland Great Britian (England Scotland and Wales), but I only did that in the clockwise direction. Retired from work 8 months ago and itching to get out on the trail again but I know my Knees would not survive another Hike. 4am start from St Bees end of day 1 at Black Sail YHA, overnight stay cost me £1.50, after than I wild camped most nights. Good Luck on this Hike and any others you do. Tony the Retired Hiker in Essex.

@@WanderandRoam Yes you could say I have put the Miles in to see whats avaiable in the UK Scenery wise, I just wish I could still put the miles in now, but sadly it takes me well over an hour to walk the 1 mile to the nearest Supermarket, BUT I have my memories of seeing ALL of the UK to fall back on. My last Long Distance (in 2012) was Coach up to Darlington then walked in the non stop rain, via the roads to Barnard Castle overnight B&B then carried on walking to MIddleton in Teesdale then followed the river to Low Force and High Force then up and over the Pennines via the Pennine Way to High Cup Nick and onto Dufton in the mist and rain for another overnight B&B before setting off for Kirkby Stephens via the roads another over night at a converted Church YHA/B&B then folllowed the back roads to Nateby, Pendragon Castle and onward to Hawes to revisit the Highest Single drop Waterfall in the UK, another overnight B&B at Hawes then a road walk to visit the Waterfalls at Bainbridge, Aysgarth then more road walking to Richmond to revisit the Falls below the Castle before catching a local bus back to Darlington to once again take the overnight coach back home to Braintree, Essex ready to start work the next day, boy oh boy was I glad to be back at work and spent most of the day sitting at a bench packaging Cosmetics and trying to explain to the women I worked with that for me a Holiday was NOT sitting on a beach in the Sunshine but a gentle Hike in some remote part of England, then with the aid of a map book I showed them my route for the last two weeks. Most just replied no wonder you are so slim, current weight was about 85KG, now wether you put that down to the hiking I have done or the 15 miles per day cycling to work then another 15 mile back home, I will leave that up to you to choose which is more effective weight loss plan, Tony in Essex a Retired Hiker.

Yes the Lake District can be tough, but the monotony of the Yorkshire Moors is yet to come more days of uphill and down dales until you reach the disused rail route to the Red Lion. That at least is level and easy to walk on.
